Chapter 2 Surrounded by Assassins

Song Tangxue grabbed Haitang, just as the assassin rushed up to Li Zhaoxian's side.

She and Haitang smashed through the tightly closed cabin window at the back, and the two of them escaped from the main cabin in an instant.

Li Zhaoxian was suddenly stunned. She just... ran away like that?

They ran away?!

Li Zhaoxian's face instantly turned cold.

Meanwhile, Song Tangxue escaped with Haitang. Sure enough, the assassins all went towards Li Zhaoxian. It was much safer to stay away from him.

Haitang was a little dazed and couldn't quite come to her senses. She asked, "Miss, are we abandoning the Crown Prince?"

Song Tangxue dusted off her clothes, her face cold and sarcastic. "Those people all want to kill him. His people won't protect us, and neither will the Song family. We can't just stay there and wait to die."

Haitang felt a pang of sadness, recalling the scene earlier where the Crown Prince and the Second Miss had people protecting them, but her own young lady had no one to protect her. "Young lady, Haitang will definitely protect you."

Song Tangxue's eyes held a smile, but at that moment, a group of footsteps suddenly approached. Song Tangxue turned around warily and saw a group of men in black looking at her. They then said, "That's the Crown Princess, grab her to blackmail Li Xianzhao! Go!"

Song Tangxue's nerves twitched instantly.

She's already escaped, but they still won't let her go.

Li Zhaoxian is indeed a scourge!

She immediately pulled Haitang uphill, but the group of men in black, like wolves lurking in the night, relentlessly pursued Song Tangxue. Song Tangxue and Haitang fought their way through, throwing things and smashing shoes, doing everything in their power to avoid being caught, ending up in a disheveled state.

They eventually escaped to the deck, where the group of men in black approached.

Song Tangxue's palms were sweating, and she said, "I'll count to three, and then we'll jump down together."

Haitang was startled and quickly said, "Miss, I don't swim!"

"Go!" the man in black shouted, and more than a dozen men in black rushed forward instantly.

Song Tangxue: "Three!"

"That's three already?" Before Haitang could react, her whole body leaned backward.

Song Tangxue hugged Haitang tightly, preparing to fall into the water.

Suddenly, a few sharp "whoosh" sounds pierced the air. She felt something fly past her ear. She opened her eyes abruptly and saw that the dozen or so men in black were hit by arrows one after another. "Bang bang" sounds followed, and they fell to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, several bodyguards landed.

Those guards were dressed in black, wore silver masks, and had the family crest of five steps on their shoulders.

Five-step markings... This means that everyone here is a top-tier assassin, and aside from the emperor, only... can possess such a level of assassination skills.

Xie Qianzhong? Song Tangxue's pupils dilated slightly.

"Master!" The group of guards knelt down in unison, and she suddenly looked up.

Amidst the biting wind, golden light shone brightly, highlighting the man's deep-set brows and the jet-black pupils beneath his thick eyebrows. From afar, he exuded a sharp and captivating aura, like the cold glint of a thin blade.

As the sun set in the west, its light shone on his black robes with gold trim, and he descended slowly from the sky like a celestial being.

Song Tangxue couldn't help but recall some things from her past life.

In the twenty-eighth year of Xuantu's reign, Emperor Xuantu passed away.

Crown Prince Li Zhaoxian ascended the throne as emperor, with the reign title of Chizhen.

He appointed Xie Qianzhong, the Left Chancellor, as Grand Tutor, gave him control of the Red Armor Guard, and appointed him as the Director of the Hundred Inspections Bureau to oversee all officials.

In the seventh year of the reign of Emperor Qianzong, Xie Qianzhong led an army of 300,000 in a rebellion and attacked the capital.

In just one year, Xie Qianzhong's iron cavalry marched into the capital. By then, she had become a corpse in a mass grave.

When Xie Qianzhong's subordinates found her, they reported it to Xie Qianzhong. She thought that Xie Qianzhong would leave her body to rot in the wilderness like Li Zhaoxian, but he ordered his men to build a tomb for her so that she would no longer be a lonely ghost.

She had very little contact with Xie Qianzhong in her previous life, and she was grateful that he was able to help her with her burial.

"Where is the Crown Prince?" The deep, cold voice was devoid of much emotion.

Song Tangxue met his clear, dark eyes, paused for a moment, and immediately said, "In the main cabin."

Xie Qianzhong waved his hand, and dozens of guards quickly assembled, shouting, "Rescue the Crown Prince!"

As his cold voice fell, the guards rushed towards the main cabin.

Xie Qianzhong was about to turn around when her heart jumped into her throat. She spoke first, "Thank you for saving me, Prime Minister Zuo."

The tall figure clearly stopped in his tracks. He turned slightly to the side, his dark pupils glancing at her out of the corner of his eye.

Just one glance was enough to feel the extreme cold.

Song Tangxue was slightly taken aback and followed his gaze downwards.

Suddenly, Haitang exclaimed, "Ah!" "Miss, you're bleeding!"

Song Tangxue then noticed that blood was seeping from the sole of her foot, clearly indicating that she had been accidentally injured by a flying arrow.

Song Tangxue looked up again, but that lonely figure had already disappeared into the distance.

Haitang was anxious to treat Song Tangxue's wound, but she withdrew her foot, saying, "I'm fine."

"Miss, what should we do..." Haitang asked hesitantly.

Song Tangxue: "Don't worry, the Left Prime Minister's men are here. Those assassins won't amount to anything. We'll go back to the main cabin later."

Haitang nodded.

After a while, Song Tangxue was sure there was no danger before she walked into the Crown Prince's main cabin.

The main cabin was now completely quiet, a testament to the skill of Xie Qianzhong's personally trained bodyguards. In just a short while, they had dealt with all the assassins, even cleaning up the bloodstains.

As soon as Song Tangxue entered the main cabin, she was met with cold stares from all directions, as if she had committed some heinous crime.

Li Zhaoxian's face turned ashen. "Where did you go just now?"

Seeing his accusatory look, Song Tangxue said calmly, "Naturally, he went to call for reinforcements. Lord Xie has already left?"
