That night, Zhou Sui was awakened by a cry.
Before she even got up, she heard footsteps in the yard, and Li Qiuju's worried voice, "Axu, Baolai, what's wrong?"
Zhou Sui was also worried that something might have happened, so she put on a thick coat and went over to check.
Li Baolai was sitting in the middle of the bed, crying with his eyes closed and his neck tilted back. Although his voice was loud, not a single tear could be seen.
Zhou Xu, dressed only in a thin undershirt, stood by the bed and said through gritted teeth, "He wet the bed!"
"You even stole my blanket and squeezed onto my side!"
Upon closer inspection of the bed, everyone saw that there was indeed a puddle of urine. No wonder Zhou Sui felt the room smelled strange when she came in.
She clearly remembered that Zhou Xu was also a clean person, and he would thoroughly clean the room every weekend when he came back.
"Put your clothes on quickly." Li Qiuju took the clothes from the bedside and handed them to Zhou Xu, afraid that he would catch a cold.
Zhou Xu took the clothes and glanced at Li Baolai, who was still wailing. At first, the two of them each had half of the bed and one blanket, and they slept quite well.
Li Baolai's snoring was a bit loud, but Zhou Xu could just cover his head with the blanket.
But in the middle of the night, Zhou Xu felt very cold. When he woke up and touched his blanket, he found that Li Baolai had taken most of it away.
He reached out to pull the blanket, but only found one blanket on the bed. So he asked Li Baolai where his blanket was.
Li Baolai was sleeping like a pig, grunting and groaning for a long time without making any clear statement.
Zhou Xu simply turned on the light to take a look. He saw that Li Baolai had covered himself with the blanket, so he tried to pull the blanket out to prevent Li Baolai from taking it from him.
As he pulled on the blanket, he realized something was wrong. The blanket was damp in the middle, and the bed smelled terrible.
Then Zhou Xu simply dragged Li Baolai up; not only were the blankets wet, but the bed was wet too.
What disgusted Zhou Xu was that he actually reached out and touched the damp spot on the blanket.
No, this is too disgusting. Zhou Xu couldn't stand it anymore and went out to wash his hands.
Zhou Dayong stepped forward and lifted the bed sheet. "The cotton is soaked through." He lifted another layer of cotton. "The bottom layer of cotton is damp."
Come to think of it, Li Baolai is a ten-year-old. Can his pee be compared to that of a child?
Li Qiuju opened the cabinet to find cotton to change, and Zhou Sui walked over and said coldly to Li Baolai, "Shut up, or I'll throw you outside."
She hadn't slept well and was in a very bad mood, but Li Baolai's howling was like a demonic sound piercing her ears.
Li Baolai opened his eyes a crack and looked at Zhou Sui. He remembered his grandmother saying that this very beautiful older sister of Zhou was not actually a biological daughter of the Zhou family, and that he should not be polite to her.
"You dare!" he shouted, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at Zhou Sui.
Zhou Xu walked in just then, grabbed the pillow, and yelled, "You bastard, how dare you hit my sister!"
“I hit him, so what?” Li Baolai shouted at the top of his lungs, making Zhou Sui’s ears ache.
Zhou Xu rolled up his sleeves and was about to teach someone a lesson when Zhou Sui stopped him. "Sister?!" He was incredulous; Zhou Sui hadn't told him that before they went to sleep.
"Take him outside and let him sober up." After Zhou Sui finished speaking, Zhou Xu didn't hesitate immediately. With a strong pull, he lifted the chubby Li Baolai and walked out.
"Let me go, let me go!" Li Baolai struggled desperately. Although he was heavy, he was not flexible at all. No matter how much he struggled, Zhou Xu held his arm tightly.
Li Qiuju and Zhou Dayong came over with the cotton and were so shocked when they saw it that they quickly put the cotton on the bed. "Axu, what are you doing?"
"Auntie, Auntie." Li Baolai had already been pulled out of the room by Zhou Xu.
He was originally wearing two pairs of pants, but because he wet them, he took off one, leaving him with only a thin pair of cotton long underwear.
As soon as he stepped outside, a gust of cold wind rushed into his body from his feet, especially into the wet area around his groin.
"Mom, don't worry about it." Seeing Li Qiuju about to chase after her, Zhou Sui quickly pulled her back.
“I’ve heard people say that if a child this age is still wetting the bed, there’s probably something wrong with their health.”
"Look, Li Baolai can't even open his eyes. He's probably still asleep. Let him go out and cool off for a while so he can wake up."
"Really?" Li Qiuju always believed her daughter's words, but now she was unsure whether it was true or not.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I won't let Li Baolai catch a cold. You and Dad should change the blankets quickly. He'll come in once you're done."
As Zhou Sui spoke, she pushed Li Qiuju to the bedside and asked her to change the blankets, then walked out herself.
"It's really cold." Zhou Sui rubbed her hands together. If it weren't for Li Baolai, she wouldn't have gotten out of her warm bed.
She took a few steps forward and looked coldly at Li Baolai, making him, who had been wailing, involuntarily shut his mouth, his shoulders shaking as he sobbed, and this time he actually had tears in his eyes.
“Li Baolai.” Zhou Sui lifted her eyelids to look at him. “I told you, if you dare to make a sound again, you’re staying in the yard tonight and not going back.”
"So that you won't wet the bed again and wake everyone up."
"I'm not outside." Li Baolai was about to shout again, but when he caught sight of Zhou Sui's cold gaze, he swallowed his words.
Zhou Xu bent over slightly and said with a dark face, "You better behave yourself. If you wet the bed or make a sound again tonight, I will absolutely not let you into bed."
As he spoke, Zhou Xuchao clenched his fists, whether from the cold or fear, a series of urinating sounds came from him, and then the smell of urine spread.
Zhou Sui covered her nose and took a few steps back. Zhou Xu finally couldn't help but shout out, "Li Baolai, if you don't take a shower today, don't even think about coming into my room!"
Hearing the shouts, Li Qiuju ran out again, "Why did he pee again? Oh dear, Baolai is really something else. He does this every winter. What are we going to do?"
While Li Baolai was taking a shower, Zhou Sui asked Li Qiuju about it. It turned out that Li Baolai was obviously lazy. In the cold winter, he didn't want to get up to urinate, so he simply urinated on the bed.
No wonder he sleeps alone; if he pees on one side, he can just turn over and sleep on the other side.
Zhou Xu gritted his teeth, "If that kid dares to pee again today, I'll make him pay."
"I threw the blanket and Li Baolai into the yard. No one could stop me. I made him sleep in the toilet."
Zhou Xu spoke loudly, as if he was deliberately speaking to Li Baolai inside, which made the sound of water being splashed even louder.
“That’s your cousin.” Li Qiuju patted her son, telling him not to scare him.
Zhou Sui knew that this wasn't meant to scare anyone; Zhou Xu was capable of doing such a thing.
Li Baolai has been spoiled rotten. Since he's come to the Zhou family, she'll reluctantly try to correct the child's bad habits.
