Chapter 104 This orange is really sour

After Song Qi'an finished speaking, he realized that he had been a bit too blunt, but he quickly found a topic to change the subject.

"I saw Wang Laizi acting suspiciously in front of your house when I passed by just now. You'd better not be home alone."

Wang Laizi is a scoundrel; he probably doesn't take the warning seriously at all.

She would have almost forgotten about Song Qi'an if he hadn't mentioned him. He rarely stayed in the village and they never had a chance to meet.

"I understand." Actually, she spends relatively little time at home alone; when everyone else goes out, Grandma Zhou stays at home too.

But Grandma Zhou went to the village entrance to meet someone. One of her old friends said she was coming to visit her and was afraid the person wouldn't be able to find her, so she was waiting at the village entrance to estimate the time.

Just then, Grandma Zhou's voice came from the doorway, "Sui Sui, Sui Sui, are you home?"

Just as Zhou Sui got up and walked out, Li Baolai opened the door.

"Sister, please come in and sit for a while. This is my eldest son's house." As she spoke, Grandma Zhou led in an elderly woman who was about the same age as her. Behind the elderly woman was a handsome young man.

"Grandma," Zhou Sui greeted her.

"I left my key at the Wang family's house at the village entrance. Please have Grandma Zhang sit in your house and warm herself by the fire for a while while I go get the key." Grandma Zhou had just led the person into the main room when she looked up.

"Qi An is here too?"

"Grandma Zhou," Song Qi'an stood up to greet her.

"Sit down, sit down, everyone sit down." Grandma Zhou gestured for everyone to sit by the fire. "Sui Sui, you take care of things for Grandma, I'll be right back."

"Grandma," Zhou Sui followed her out, "Why don't I take it? You can serve her." She didn't know anyone there, so how could she serve her?

Grandma Zhou pushed her hand away, "By the time you bring it back, it will be so long. It's cold outside. I'm dressed warmly. You should go inside and not get cold in such light clothing."

As she spoke, Grandma Zhou pushed Zhou Sui into the house, and then ran out of the yard.

Zhou Sui sighed softly, called Li Baolai, and they went into the house together.

"Grandma Zhang, please have some hot water and some fruit first." Zhou Sui poured hot water for the guest and then served her a fruit platter with melon seeds, snacks, and fruit.

Li Baolai, who had been sitting and yawning, immediately perked up when he saw the fruit and snacks. Just as he was about to reach for them, he glanced at Zhou Sui and, seeing that she wasn't paying attention to him, grabbed three candies and an apple.

Zhou Sui really wasn't paying attention to him, because Grandma Zhang was asking her all sorts of questions.

"You must be Zhou's eldest granddaughter, the one who owns the shop?"

"Oh my, she's so beautiful, so fair and delicate."

How old are you this year?

ā€œI’m nineteen,ā€ Zhou Sui replied.

"That's not young anymore."

"Have you promised yourself to someone else?"

Zhou Sui shook her head. Nowadays, people ask if you have a partner. Only the older generation still asks if you've been betrothed.

"It's about time to start looking at girls. A young girl of eighteen or nineteen is in her prime; it'll be harder to find someone any older."

Zhou Sui had nothing to say about the old man's ideas and simply nodded perfunctorily.

It was the young man next to Grandma Zhang who spoke up, "Grandma, don't ask anymore." He had seen it all; the smile on the girl named Zhou Sui's face had faded.

"You silly child." Grandma Zhang gently slapped her grandson's hand. "Zhou Sui is such a good girl. You don't dare to ask her, so Grandma will ask her for you."

Upon hearing this, the people in the room reacted in different ways.

The young man blushed and dared not look at Zhou Sui again.

Zhou Sui was stunned. What was going on?

Song Qi'an hadn't paid much attention to the young man at first, but now that his sharp eyes were on him, and he saw the young man's flushed cheeks, he seemed to understand something.

"Your grandma isn't here either, so I'll introduce you to her." Only Grandma Zhang remained cheerful.

She held Zhou Sui's hand with one hand and the young man's hand with the other, a scene that Song Qi'an witnessed.

"Sui Sui, I want to drink water," he suddenly said.

"ah?"

"Okay, I'll get you some water right away." Zhou Sui felt that Song Qi'an's words were like heavenly music. This Grandma Zhang kept holding her hand and wouldn't let go. She looked at herself and then at her grandson. Her eyes made the hairs on the back of Zhou Sui stand up.

She pushed Grandma Zhang's hand away and got up to pour water for Song Qi'an.

When Song Qi'an spoke, the Zhang family members all looked over. They naturally knew that such a dazzling man was in the room, but since Song Qi'an hadn't said anything, they didn't take him seriously.

"Are you the eldest grandson of the Zhou family?" Grandma Zhang asked after squinting for a while.

"I am Sui Sui's friend."

Grandma Zhang looked as if she had just realized something, "No wonder Zhou's eldest grandson looks so different. He didn't look like this before."

Zhou Sui brought over half a glass of water, and Song Qi'an patted the chubby boy next to him, "Sit over there."

Li Bao looked at Song Qi'an, then at the fruit plate, and obediently sat down next to it, bringing him closer to the plate.

"Sit here." Song Qi'an pulled out a chair for Zhou Sui and let her sit next to him.

After Zhou Sui sat down, he placed the shelled sunflower seeds and oranges in front of her, saying, "Eat first."

Zhou Sui took the orange, broke off a piece and put it in her mouth. Her eyes narrowed immediately. "It's sour." She didn't even chew it much before swallowing the orange.

"Give it to me, I'll peel it again." Then Song Qi'an naturally took the orange from her hand, put it in his mouth, and swallowed it in a few bites.

Zhou Sui was so surprised that she wondered if they were eating the same orange. "Don't you think it's sour?"

"It's alright." It's mainly because Zhou Sui started eating sweet things, which amplified the sour taste.

"Eat this, it's sweet." Song Qi'an quickly peeled another one, and this time he tasted it first before handing it to Zhou Sui.

Zhou Sui was holding an orange when she put it in her mouth. She noticed that the Zhang family grandfather and grandson across from her were staring at her.

"Um, Grandma Zhang, you can have some oranges." Zhou Sui pushed the fruit plate towards them.

"Hehe, okay." Grandma Zhang looked at Zhou Sui, then at Song Qi'an, and finally picked up an orange. It was a bit sour. She then handed the orange to the dejected young man next to her. "Eat it."
