Chapter 148 Meeting her was such bad luck

Manager Wan was still relatively clear-headed. He forcefully pulled his wife back, and Zhou Sui and the others followed behind until they arrived at Wanfu Hotel.

"What exactly do you want?" Manager Wan asked them after settling his wife into the lobby.

He had just walked in when the receptionist told him that the boss had called to ask about the fight that happened today, and he didn't want anything else to go wrong at this crucial moment.

“Our demands are very simple.” Zhou Sui looked at him and said, word by word, “Pay for medical expenses and apologize to my sister.”

Manager Wan snorted and put his hands on his hips. "Our hotel staff were also beaten. Don't forget that, okay?"

I really don't know where this woman gets her confidence from, constantly talking about losing money.

Zhou Meimei gently tugged at Zhou Sui's clothes and whispered in her ear, "Sui Sui, their injuries are more serious than ours."

If it really comes down to losses, they'll actually be the ones who lose more.

Well, Zhou Sui doesn't really care about this amount of money.

"Okay, let's call it even then, we'll call it even."

"Apologize to my sister!"

"Otherwise, we'll just block the entrance today and not leave, so everyone will know how Wanfu Hotel bullies others and tarnishes their reputation."

Manager Wan glanced at the lobby, then turned to Zhou Meimei with a helpless expression. "Xiaomei, I took good care of you when we were working together, didn't I? Why are you still bringing this up now?"

Zhou Meimei lowered her head slightly and remained silent for more than ten seconds before she spoke.

"Manager Wan, I've repaid you for your previous care."

“This isn’t the first time your wife has wronged me. She caused me to lose my job before. This time, she not only has to apologize to me, but also to everyone else.”

Zhou Meimei seemed to have made up her mind, and when she raised her head again, her expression was firm.

Manager Wan scoffed, a mocking look on his face. "I say, Zhou Meimei, did you really hurt your head just now? And you even apologized in front of everyone."

"If my wife heard this and hit you again, I definitely wouldn't stop her."

Even he wanted to go up and give Zhou Meimei a good beating; that brat really dared to speak her mind.

Zhou Meimei slowly turned her head towards the lobby, her gaze falling on a young woman behind the counter. Zhou Sui followed her gaze and noticed the stiff smile on the young woman's face.

"Manager Wan, I won't take the blame. Otherwise, I'll tell your wife about your affair with Lili."

"Boss Wan will be here in half an hour, right? It'll be a good opportunity for him to find out how you and Lili fool around at work and how you two line your own pockets."

Zhou Meimei spoke calmly, but Manager Wan, who was standing next to her, rushed over anxiously, shouting, "Zhou Meimei, what nonsense are you talking about?!"

"You know better than I do what I'm saying." Zhou Meimei turned to look at Manager Wan. "Apologize, or this matter won't be over today."

If it weren't for the people walking by outside from time to time, Manager Wan would have loved to cover Zhou Meimei's mouth.

"Are you crazy? Isn't Lily your good friend?"

Zhou Meimei's gaze fell on the young woman again, and she laughed sarcastically, "Good friend? Watching me get beaten up and doing nothing, huh?"

"Think it over carefully. Do you want your wife to apologize, or do you want me to tell you the truth?"

It was as if a knife was held to Manager Wan's neck. He had no choice but to go in and talk to his wife. No one knows what he said, but in the end, Zhou Meimei still heard an apology in the lobby.

The lobby staff all looked bewildered. Zhou Meimei was too lazy to explain, and after hearing the apology, she turned around and left.

"Meimei." The young woman chased after her as soon as they stepped out the door.

Zhou Meimei didn't even turn her head, urging Zhou Sui and the others to leave this troublesome place quickly.

When they passed by the clinic, Zhou Sui insisted on pulling the two people inside, at least to disinfect their wounds and apply some medicine.

By the time all this was done, it was already dark.

Zhou Sui told the employees who came with her to go back to the store to let them know they were safe, while she took Xu Yibai and Zhou Meimei to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

While waiting for the food, Zhou Meimei said gratefully to Xu Yibai, "Thank you. If you hadn't appeared in time, I would have been in a terrible situation today."

Her gaze seemed somewhat intense, which startled Xu Yibai, who waved his hands repeatedly, saying, "No need to be polite, we just happened to run into each other."

In Xu Yibai's view, everyone is a colleague, and it is normal for them to help each other.

After thanking Xu Yibai, she looked at Zhou Sui and said, "Actually, when you asked me why I went back to town, I lied to you."

"Hmm?" Zhou Sui raised an eyebrow, looking all ears.

A year ago, Zhou Meimei worked as a receptionist at Wanfu Hotel. That's when she met Lili. The two girls, who were about the same age, quickly became good friends.

However, as time went on, Zhou Meimei noticed something was off about Lili; she was getting too close to her boss, Manager Wan.

Although she sensed something was wrong, Zhou Meimei still didn't ask.

Until one time, Zhou Meimei forgot to take something while working the night shift, so she went back to the dormitory to get it.

There were several rooms in the corner of the hotel that were reserved as dormitories for employees. Zhou Meimei was about to knock on the door when she heard strange noises coming from inside.

Before she could even process what was happening, she heard Manager Wan's voice. Zhou Meimei was so frightened that she forgot all her belongings and rushed back to the front desk.

"Later, I actually mentioned it to Lili indirectly. She neither denied nor admitted it, but just changed the subject."

“We all work together, so I didn’t want to be too direct. But who knew that one night during my shift, Manager Wan happened to be bending down and talking to me at the front desk.”

"His wife came in a big fuss to catch him cheating, thinking that Manager Wan was staying out all night to keep me company at work."

Actually, no, it was because Manager Wan had just finished accompanying Lili at that time.

After Wan's wife made such a scene, Zhou Meimei was constantly being pointed at and gossiped about wherever she went, because Wan did indeed take good care of the front desk staff.

Little did they know, "Manager Wan was just taking care of Lili; I was just an afterthought and got caught in the crossfire."

"Later, I couldn't stay any longer, so I went home. When I came back to the city, I ran into Lili, and we got back in touch. She and Manager Wan were still the same."

“But,” Zhou Meimei sighed heavily, her eyes beginning to redden, “meeting her was really, really bad luck. I never want to see her again.”

Zhou Sui gently patted the back of her hand, offering silent comfort.

Perhaps it was only after this incident that Zhou Meimei truly saw what kind of person Lili was.
