Monday is Zhou Sui's busiest time. After finishing her work at the company, she still has to go to night school. By the time she gets to her apartment building, it's already past nine o'clock.
She parked her car back in her parking space and called Song Qi'an as she left the company.
Song Qi'an said he would be very busy all day, and his assistant had already driven his car away.
Zhou Sui wondered where Song Qi'an would stay tonight as she got out of the car, but then she realized that her worries were a bit unnecessary.
Song Qi'an had already bought property in the city, so he wasn't worried about not having a place to stay. Even if he couldn't find a place to stay for a while, there were plenty of hotels in the city for him to choose from, so he didn't need to worry about it.
After getting off the bus, Zhou Sui noticed a truck parked in front of the building, with workers in uniforms unloading things.
Zhou Sui glanced at it; it was furniture, and brand new at that.
Did someone buy new furniture or did a new resident move in?
But they're still bringing in furniture so late; they must be in a hurry to move in.
She wondered which floor it was, but when she got off the elevator, Zhou Sui was stunned.
The family next door had actually opened their door. They had been living there for a while, but the door next door had always been closed. At first, Zhou Sui thought she hadn't run into anyone, but later she found out that the house next door had always been empty; the owner had bought it but never lived there.
But now the door is open, and the inside looks brightly lit, with a sofa-like object placed by the door.
Just then, the people inside came out. "Miss, are we blocking your way? We'll move in right away." These people were wearing the same uniforms as the people downstairs.
The door opened wider, and Zhou Sui could vaguely see the furniture in the living room. At that moment, the elevator door opened again, and this time it seemed that a table was being brought up. Zhou Sui quickly stepped aside to let the other person pass first.
After everyone had moved their things inside, Zhou Sui walked to her room, opened the door, and went inside.
It looks like someone's moving in next door. I wonder what kind of neighbors they are, and whether they'll be easy to get along with.
She's used to living alone, so the sudden arrival of a neighbor made her feel a little out of place.
The noise of moving things next door continued until 10 o'clock, which was exactly the right time. Zhou Sui thought it would disturb her sleep, since she usually goes to bed between 10 and 10:30. But the noise stopped as soon as she finished washing up.
Back in bed, Zhou Sui subconsciously picked up her phone to check, and sure enough, she had received a text message from Song Qi'an ten minutes earlier.
Song Qi'an said his meeting today would probably end around midnight, and his assistant had booked a hotel for him near the company so that Zhou Sui could get some rest.
At the end, there were the words "Goodnight".
Zhou Sui guessed he was still in a meeting, so she sent him a concise text message: Okay, I'm going to sleep now. Get some rest after the meeting. Goodnight.
Song Qi'an saw the message almost the instant she sent it, and he immediately picked up his phone and read through it.
The manager, who was reporting data at his desk, subconsciously stopped because he noticed that President Song, who had been expressionless all day, seemed to have a slight change in his facial muscles, which we'll call a smile.
Could it be that my report to General Manager Song was satisfactory?
The manager immediately perked up. If General Manager Song was satisfied, it meant he could leave work. He cleared his throat and suddenly became more energetic as he continued his report.
But he was interrupted after only two sentences, "The data from 1990 doesn't match." Song Qi'an's emotionless voice rang out.
"Huh?" The manager was taken aback, glanced at the data, and then thought of flipping to the back of the report to find more detailed data.
Before even reaching the end, Song Qi'an had already pulled out a data table. "The data is incorrect; all conclusions are invalid."
Song Qi'an didn't need to say anything more; the manager, with a bitter face, took back the data sheet and said, "Understood, will modify it immediately."
As soon as he left Song Qi'an's office, several colleagues who were still working overtime with him immediately surrounded him, asking, "How did it go? Has the report been approved?"
"The data is incorrect."
“Impossible. I’ve checked the data twice. There’s no way it could be wrong,” one of the men said.
The manager didn't bother with any nonsense and simply handed over the data sheet, "From 1990."
The man took the data sheet and compared it with the report, his face turning green. "I clearly checked it twice, how could it still be wrong?"
The manager glanced at Song Qi'an's office and said in a low voice, "Everyone, be on your guard. Our CEO Song is no ordinary person, unlike the previous one. He can tell there's a problem just by listening to these figures."
The faces of the people gathered around turned serious. They exchanged glances and returned to their desks to continue working.
Just as Song Qi'an had said, the workday didn't end until midnight.
He rubbed his slightly swollen temples, took out his hotel room key from his pocket, and had just gone inside to take off his coat when there was a knock on the door.
Song Qi'an opened the door and saw, "Secretary Wu?"
The woman in front of him winked, her expression affected, her mouth seemingly unable to open, "Mr. Song, I heard the door open next door and guessed you were back. Do you need me?"
Before she could finish speaking, Song Qi'an interrupted her, "No need."
After saying that, the door slammed shut. Secretary Wu was leaning against the door frame talking to Song Qi'an when the door slammed down and almost hit her in the face.
She clutched her exposed chest, looking utterly terrified, staring incredulously at the closed door. She was standing before Song Qi'an dressed like this, and he hadn't reacted at all?!
Secretary Wu was so angry that he wanted to kick the door, but just as he raised his foot, the door suddenly opened again.
