Tang Jia was eventually sent back to the hotel. Watching Song Qi'an's car speed away, Tang Jia gritted her teeth in frustration. This man was becoming more and more ruthless.
There were few cars on the road at night, and Song Qi'an stepped on the gas and drove smoothly back to his residential area.
Zhou Sui looked a little sleepy, yawning several times in the elevator.
After getting off the elevator, Zhou Sui took out her keys and said to Song Qi'an, "I'm going to sleep." She was a little sleepy; it was already past midnight, and when she came back, most of the lights in the apartment complex were off, except for the streetlights.
The key turned in the lock once, and Zhou Sui opened the door and walked in. Just as she was about to close the door, a hand blocked her way.
"Hmm?" Zhou Sui looked at Song Qi'an.
A short while later, the lights in Zhou Sui's house came on. The warm yellow light was very comfortable for the eyes. Zhou Sui was nestled on the sofa, covered with a blanket.
She watched as Song Qi'an boiled water and washed cups in the kitchen, and then a cup of hot water was placed in her hands.
"It's warm, you can drink it directly." As soon as Song Qi'an finished speaking, Zhou Sui took a sip, and the temperature was just right.
Song Qi'an sat down at Zhou Sui's feet. "Don't take what Tang Jia said in the car to heart. She and Xiang Jie came to the city to see me before. They didn't want to stay in a hotel, so the two siblings stayed at my house."
“I share a room with Xiang Jie, and Tang Jia has her own room,” Song Qi’an explained in detail.
Zhou Sui held her water glass and said "Oh".
"And she probably found out about me living at home from Xiang Jie." After all, it was Xiang Jie who gave him this terrible idea.
Zhou Sui just uttered "oh" repeatedly, her expression remaining completely unchanged.
"I really didn't mean to hide it from you." Song Qi'an was practically scratching his head in frustration. If he had known the matter was this serious, he would never have listened to Xiang Jie.
"Really not?" Zhou Sui finally looked up at him.
Song Qi'an's expression was as serious as could be. "It really isn't."
Zhou Sui suddenly sat up straight, instantly shortening the distance between herself and Song Qi'an.
Are you afraid I'll get angry?
Song Qi'an truthfully replied, "I'm scared."
Zhou Sui nodded knowingly and pursed her lips. Song Qi'an looked at her nervously. Was she angry again?
The next second, Zhou Sui suddenly burst out laughing, her body shaking with laughter. Song Qi'an quickly took the water glass from her hand and put it on the table.
He stared at Zhou Sui in astonishment, wondering what had happened and how someone who was angry just a second ago could be laughing the next.
Because of his surprise and bewilderment, he was very different from his usual cold and aloof demeanor.
Zhou Sui laughed so hard she leaned back on the sofa, saying intermittently, "Brother Qi An, you, how can you be so cute?"
Cute? Is that a suitable word to describe him?
But he couldn't think about that now. "You're not angry anymore?" He must not be angry to be able to laugh like that.
Zhou Sui laughed until her throat was a little dry. "Water."
Song Qi'an hurriedly took the cup and, without letting Zhou Sui do it, made her drink it down with his own hand.
"Drink slowly, don't rush." Song Qi'an saw her face was flushed from smiling and was afraid she would choke.
After taking a couple of sips of water, Zhou Sui gradually calmed down. Actually, she was no longer angry; she had just felt wronged at the time because she had been kept in the dark.
But Song Qi'an's helpless explanation made her feel much better.
She had been holding her water glass the whole time because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to hold back her laughter, because she found it quite amusing to see Song Qi'an so nervous.
Everything has its limits. She had endured enough before she finally laughed.
Song Qi'an asked, still not entirely reassured, "Are you really not angry anymore?" He had little experience with women and didn't know that girls were like that; whether they were angry or not was just a matter of a single thought.
Zhou Sui shook her head, covering her cheeks with both hands. "Is my face very red?" She felt it was burning hot when she touched it.
Song Qi'an replied, seemingly off-topic, "It looks good, all rosy and cute."
Who asked that? Zhou Sui felt her face burning even hotter, this time not from laughter, but from shyness.
The tense atmosphere from before had been dissolved by Zhou Sui's laughter. Looking at the charming woman under the warm yellow light, Song Qi felt a slight stirring in his heart.
“Sui Sui”.
"Um?"
He nervously clenched his fingers. "Is it too hasty for me to ask you for an answer now?"
The answer is a little secret that only they know.
Song Qi'an trusted his intuition; Zhou Sui's reactions these past few days didn't seem like she was indifferent to him.
Zhou Sui coughed lightly to clear her throat. She knew this moment would come sooner or later, and now that she had come to terms with her feelings, she would no longer back down.
“Song Qi’an.” Zhou Sui looked at the man in front of her.
Song Qi'an unconsciously straightened his back, and then he heard Zhou Sui say, "I like you."
I like you.
These four words, like fireworks during the Lunar New Year, burst open in Song Qi'an's mind.
He stared blankly at Zhou Sui, his mind processing this immense joy.
His body reacted faster than his brain; he suddenly pulled Zhou Sui into his arms, just like the hug they had when they parted, as if he wanted to meld Zhou Sui into his own body.
His deep voice held an undisguised joy, "I like you too, I like you so much."
Zhou Sui's earlobes turned red without her noticing. Song Qi'an's voice was like an electric current, spreading from her ears to her whole body. She didn't know what else to do but hug Song Qi'an back.
The two hugged for a while before letting go. Song Qi'an immediately changed. He was in high spirits when he was happy, and his eyes were smiling. He didn't look so cold anymore.
As for Zhou Sui, her girlish charm made her seem a little shy, and she quickly looked away after only one glance at Song Qi'an.
Song Qi'an wished he could stick to Zhou Sui all the time to make up for the two years they had been apart.
But it was getting late, and Zhou Sui was already feeling sleepy when she got back.
"Get some rest early tonight, we're going to Cao County tomorrow." This was something we'd agreed on beforehand—going to Cao County for fun and to check out the land Zhou Sui bought.
If he hadn't mentioned it, Zhou Sui would have almost forgotten about it. "Right, we have to get up early tomorrow."
They planned to stay overnight in Cao County before returning.
"Sleep peacefully, I'll call you again tomorrow when I go to their house." Originally, it was Zhou Sui who was supposed to pick up Zhou Xu and Zhou Yu.
“I’ll go.” Zhou Sui wanted to say that this was her business, but Song Qi’an said, “We’re boyfriend and girlfriend now, so leave this to me. You can go to sleep peacefully and wait for my call.”
He adapted to his new identity quickly and was quite satisfied with it. Even after leaving Zhou Sui's house, Song Qi'an still had a smile on his face.
