Where did the student who worked at the store during winter break go?
What is the relationship between the two of you?
Zhou Sui's two questions made Wu Gang's heart pound.
"She, she's my younger sister from my hometown." Wu Gang thought for a moment but didn't try to come up with any other reason, since that was indeed their relationship.
Zhou Sui looked at him, waiting for Wu Gang to answer another question.
“That guy who worked during the winter break, he… he’s off today.” After Wu Gang finished speaking, he cautiously glanced at Zhou Sui, only to see the young boss looking at him with a half-smile, which made Wu Gang feel a chill.
"Hmm, what a coincidence?"
"Yes, it just so happens that it was his turn to rest." Wu Gang forced a smile.
Zhou Sui nodded without saying anything, and Wu Gang was unsure whether she believed him or not.
"Oh, right, there's one more question." Zhou Sui suddenly asked halfway through nodding.
Wu Gang tensed up again. Every question Zhou Sui asked made him more nervous. Who knew what kind of century-old problem he was about to face?
"I'm curious, how did your sister get paid when she worked at the store during winter break without being reported to HR?"
Zhou Sui couldn't possibly work for free in the store; she never even dared to dream of such a good opportunity.
Wu Gang knew this question would come up sooner or later, but so far, he hadn't come up with a reasonable answer.
His lips moved, and just as he was about to bite the bullet and speak, there was a sudden knock on the door. The person outside said, "Mr. Zhou, the police are here. Please have the person in charge come over."
Wu Gang secretly breathed a sigh of relief; now it was either him or Zhou Sui who had to go down and communicate with the police.
He secretly hoped that Zhou Sui would leave, otherwise, if Zhou Sui and Wu Ermei were left here, Wu Ermei might inevitably be tricked into revealing something.
Staying behind would allow him to communicate with Wu Ermei and prevent things from getting worse.
"President Zhou, would you like to go downstairs for a moment?" Wu Gang looked at Zhou Sui expectantly.
But as Zhou Sui waved her hand, Wu Gang's heart sank to the bottom. "I haven't been to the store for a while. You are more familiar with the store's situation, so it would be more suitable for you to go."
Wu Gang had nothing to say, so he could only nod in agreement, "Okay, I'll go down now."
As he went downstairs, he tried to wink at Wu Ermei to keep quiet, but to his surprise, Wu Ermei followed him out.
"Hey, wait a minute." Wu Ermei had only taken two steps when Zhou Sui called out to her.
"He's the store manager, so he can handle it. Store manager Wu is busy anyway, so asking you is the same thing." Asking this young girl is much easier than asking that old fox Wu Gang.
“Me.” Wu Ermei turned to look at Zhou Sui. “Boss Zhou, I don’t know anything. I just know that I came here to work, and I haven’t received my salary even once. You can ask Manager Wu when he comes back.”
Upon hearing this, Wu Gang, who had just arrived at the door, thought, "Wow, that's clever! Anyway, Wu Ermei has been working here for less than a month and hasn't received a single paycheck. I just don't know why."
As Wu Gang stepped out the door, his heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down. As long as Wu Ermei insisted that she knew nothing, she might have come up with a solution by the time he returned.
And just as he expected, before Zhou Sui could ask any more questions, Wu Ermei said with a bitter face, "Manager Zhou, I really don't know."
"My stomach hurts a bit, I have diarrhea, can I go to the toilet and come back later?" Wu Ermei said, pretending to be in pain and clutching her stomach.
However, her clumsy acting was easily seen through, and Zhou Sui didn't expose her. "Go ahead."
She was just going to drag things out and wait for Wu Gang to come back. She could wait. She wanted to see what kind of excuse Wu Gang had prepared.
