During the two days of waiting for the food truck, Zhou Sui was not idle.
She took her second aunt, Zhang Cui, to the wholesale market. The two of them even went to the clothing wholesale store they used to go to, but unfortunately the owner had already transferred the business.
The two then went to other shops and, after learning about the prices, Zhang Cui looked troubled.
"Sui Sui, are clothes so expensive now?"
They asked at several stores, and the prices were only two or three yuan cheaper than what they could buy in town.
"Second Aunt, we're only buying a small amount, and winter is coming soon. Winter clothes are more expensive than summer clothes."
There's a trick to wholesaling clothes: you have to get all the colors and sizes available for each garment to get the best price.
But if you only want a few of them, then the price will be different.
Zhang Cui was just running a small stall, so naturally she wouldn't dare to buy so many clothes at once; otherwise, she would suffer a huge loss if they became unsellable.
"At that price, I can't buy many clothes to take home."
Before coming, she had discussed it with Zhou Dawu and agreed that the maximum cost would be three hundred, which was within their family's current budget.
"Second Aunt, you don't need to approve much. Just take some long-sleeved shirts, blouses, skirts, and the like."
"Take fewer pants, because we can't let people try them on when we're setting up a stall."
"Also, you can sell hats and socks along with it."
Zhou Sui had figured it out; as long as she didn't get the coat, Zhang Cui had enough money.
Besides, it's a bit too early to sell coats in this weather.
"Sui Sui, you have a good eye. Help your auntie pick out some nice-looking ones that will sell well."
Thinking of the money her niece had earned a couple of days ago, Zhang Cuixin made a firm decision, and the two of them plunged into the shop.
After returning from the city, the two did not go home, but went directly to the town.
Zhang Cui knew the town much better than Zhou Sui. She knew exactly which streets had the most residents and which streets had the most workers.
Zhou Sui told her to choose a location herself, and then she took out the bed sheets and started setting up her stall.
On the way here, Zhou Sui had already told her some key points, such as how to arrange clothes nicely and what to say to different kinds of people.
Zhang Cui has a very outgoing personality, so Zhou Sui isn't worried about her communication skills.
She's easily angered; she can raise her voice at the slightest provocation, as if she's about to rush up and slap someone at any moment.
"Second Aunt, you must remember this: everything in front of you is money. We can go against anything else, but never against money."
Just in case, Zhou Sui had no choice but to try to persuade Zhang Cui first.
"Don't worry, they're all paying three hundred yuan each, I won't raise my voice at them."
Zhang Cui cared much more about the three hundred yuan in her pocket that she exchanged for these bags of clothes than Zhou Sui did.
After explaining everything that needed to be explained, Zhou Sui stood aside and let Zhang Cui start selling on her own.
I was lucky; someone came over to ask after I only called out twice.
"How much are these clothes? Can I wear them?"
Zhang Cui nervously looked at Zhou Sui while holding the clothes, but Zhou Sui shook her head, indicating that she should do it herself.
"boss?"
Seeing that she didn't speak, the customer asked again, "Are you selling this dress?"
"Sell, sell!" Zhang Cui said hurriedly. "These are new styles from the city, fifteen pieces."
"You measure it carefully, this garment has elasticity, it's not the kind that's too tight."
After saying a few words, Zhang Cui finally calmed down, and her smile became much more natural.
"It looks nice, but it's too expensive."
"Give me a discount, I'll buy it for ten yuan."
Upon hearing the price, Zhang Cui almost couldn't keep her smile.
Ten yuan is almost as much as her cost price!
"Girl, feel the quality of this dress; it's soft and thick."
Zhang Cui recalled the lines Zhou Sui had taught her: "A ten-yuan dress is definitely different from this one, but my dress is the same style as the ones in the department store."
Zhou Sui watched from a distance. Although she couldn't hear what they were saying, she could roughly tell from their expressions.
The girl buying clothes kept looking through and comparing the clothes, which showed that she really liked them.
Looking at Zhang Cui again, hesitation and doubt appeared on her face. In the end, she shook her head, though no one knew what the girl said.
Afterwards, the girl handed the clothes to the other person and left, at which point Zhang Cui looked regretful.
Seeing this, Zhou Sui walked over.
"Sui Sui, that girl insisted on selling herself to me on November 11th, but I didn't agree. Is that right...?"
Zhang Cui was a little anxious; if she sold it at the price during the National Day holiday, she could still make a little profit.
Zhou Sui understood her thoughts, but if doing business really meant doing things this way, how could one make money?
"Second Aunt, do it the way I told you before."
"Our clothes have new styles, so we don't have to worry about selling them."
Zhou Sui had to look her eyes out to pick out these clothes; every single one of them looked good.
Good-looking and high-quality clothes will sell well.
Zhang Cui finally calmed down, but then became excited again.
"Sui Sui, the girl who was looking at clothes just now is walking this way!"
Zhou Sui, quick-witted, took the clothes from her hands and whispered, "Let's pretend we don't know each other. I'm here to buy clothes."
After she finished speaking, she picked up the clothes and started to measure them against herself. The girl walked over in a few big strides.
"Boss, where's that dress I was just looking at?"
Zhang Cui reacted quickly, pointing to Zhou Sui, "This little girl is watching."
Zhou Sui immediately cooperated, "Boss, how much is this dress?"
"Fifteen yuan."
The girl next to them felt a little anxious as she watched the two start talking.
"Boss, could you show me another one of these clothes?"
Zhang Cui turned to look at her, "Miss, there's only one of these clothes, and it's a new style that I managed to snag with great difficulty."
"It would be hard to find another piece of clothing like this in town."
From an angle where the girl couldn't see, Zhou Sui couldn't help but curl the corner of her mouth slightly.
My second aunt is quite eloquent; she never taught me these things.
Hearing this, the girl became even more anxious, "I'll take the clothes at the price you mentioned before."
Zhang Cui suppressed a wide grin and pretended to be in a difficult position.
"Girl, the little girl next to the clothes is still looking at them."
My second aunt is such a good actress!
Zhou Sui had no choice but to cooperate, "It looks pretty good to me, boss, how much cheaper can I get?"
"Boss, I was the one who first picked out these clothes, and you set the price too. Hurry up and pack them up for me."
As she spoke, she took money out of her bag, and Zhang Cui could only look apologetically at Zhou Sui.
"Little sister, I'm sorry."
"I have other nice things here, take a look at the others."
After the girl left with the clothes, Zhang Cui couldn't help but let out a soft, excited shout.
"Oh my god, it really sold out."
Zhou Sui smiled, "Second Aunt, you're really amazing, you acted so well."
Zhang Cui blushed with excitement, "That's three hundred yuan! I'm sure I'll do a good job."
After this incident, Zhang Cui's ability to react quickly improved.
Zhou Sui no longer needs to watch from the sidelines; she'll have her own things to do now.
Because her food cart is ready!
