He was Wang Laizi from the village. No one knew his real name anymore, because of the big and small bumps on his face, everyone in the village called him Wang Laizi.
He's almost forty years old and still single. He's completely idle, and when he drinks, he squints his eyes and leers at young women and older women.
He was beaten many times for this, but he never changed his ways.
Zhou Sui took a step back warily, gripping her sickle tightly. She could smell the unpleasant odor and alcohol on Wang Laizi.
"Girl, is this pig feed okay?" Wang Laizi wanted to take another step forward, saying "pig feed" but his lewd eyes kept looking at Zhou Sui.
Zhou Sui suppressed her disgust; it was best to stay away from this kind of scoundrel as soon as possible.
She ignored the pig feed on the ground, picked up her bamboo basket, walked around Wang Laizi, and headed down the mountain.
Unexpectedly, Wang Laizi was still so fast after drinking. He caught up with Zhou Sui in just a few steps and even dared to reach out and grab her.
"Zhou family girl, why are you running?"
The moment those filthy, black hands touched her shoulder, Zhou Sui quickly shook them off, coldly pointing her sickle at Wang Laizi.
"I'm warning you, if you follow me again, don't blame my sickle for being merciless."
If she were truly eighteen, she would probably be in a complete panic. Now that she has lived an extra lifetime, she has seen all sorts of demons and monsters.
"Hey, Zhou girl, what are you doing? I'm going to tell your parents! How can you treat your elders like this?" Wang Laizi was still a little intimidated in front of the gleaming sickle.
But the girl in front of him was too beautiful, and his drunkenness kicked in again. Lust is a double-edged sword, and this sword had become more powerful than the sickle in Zhou Sui's hand.
When Zhou Sui saw him stop, she immediately quickened her pace and walked down the mountain. Although she was brave, there was a huge difference in strength between men and women.
If she, with her petite frame, were to really go toe-to-toe with Wang Laizi, she would probably end up with both of them suffering heavy losses.
That would be extremely disadvantageous for her in every respect.
She had only run a few steps when she heard a noise behind her. Before she could even turn around, the bamboo basket on her back was pulled backward with great force, causing her to fall backward and to the ground.
Out of the corner of her eye, Zhou Sui caught sight of Wang Laizi and instinctively swung the sickle she was holding at him. However, because he was behind her, the back of the blade barely grazed his arm, causing little damage.
Not only that, he also grabbed Zhou Sui's hand holding the sickle and whispered in her ear, "Damn it, I'm really lucky today. One woman is gone, but there's an even prettier one. Today, I'll die under the peony and be a ghost in style."
Before Zhou Sui could figure out what he meant, Wang Laizi snatched the sickle from her hand.
"Girl, I have money, I'll give you money, just be a good girl and let me touch you." The mouth that spoke emitted a pungent stench and uncontrollable drool.
Zhou Sui's hand was tightly gripped by him. She tried to break free, her face turning red, but she couldn't get a response.
"Girl, just once, just once." Wang Laizi leaned down, impatiently trying to touch Zhou Sui.
Unable to break free, Zhou Sui had no choice but to think of another way. She slowly lifted one leg while groping around on the ground with her other hand.
She had to take down one of Wang Laizi's parts, above and below!
As the stench drew closer, Zhou Sui had prepared two plans, but before she could act, a wad of cloth appeared out of thin air and struck Wang Laizi's head with pinpoint accuracy.
Before Zhou Sui could react, a figure suddenly appeared, holding a stick. The stick struck Wang Laizi, who was also caught off guard.
The stick fell, and the man collapsed—swift and decisive.
Zhou Sui quickly turned over and got up.
"Are you alright?" The voice of the person who spoke was clear and bright. Zhou Sui glanced at him. In front of her was a boy of about fifteen or sixteen years old, with delicate features and a youthful spirit.
"I'm fine, thank you." Zhou Sui smiled gratefully at him, then asked, "Are you Zhao Xinfeng from the Zhao family?"
“Yes.” Zhao Xinfeng grinned, revealing his white teeth. “Sister Zhou Sui, you’d better be careful next time. Luckily, I ran into my cousin.”
"That wad of cloth was launched by my cousin with a slingshot, wasn't it accurate?"
Zhou Sui followed his gaze and saw a tall man standing on a small slope not far away. Perhaps sensing the gaze, the man turned his head to look over.
Even Zhou Sui, who had seen many celebrities in her past life, couldn't help but sigh, "These features, these contours, I finally understand what a jawline sculpted with a knife really means."
"Thank you!" Zhou Sui shouted at him.
The man glanced at her indifferently before looking away. Zhao Xinfeng quickly explained, "Sister Zhou Sui, my brother just has that temper, don't mind him."
"By the way, what should we do with this Wang Laizi?"
Zhou Sui looked at the person lying at her feet. This kind of scourge should be killed with a single blow, but no, this is a society governed by law. She has finally been given a second chance at life, and it's not worth sacrificing herself for someone like this.
"Throw him down the mountain." The voice was calm, but the words revealed a ruthless intent, as if to say, "Drag him down and kill him."
"Huh?" Zhao Xinfeng was stunned. He hadn't seen Zhou Sui many times, and they hadn't even exchanged more than a few words.
How can someone who looks so gentle and delicate speak so casually?
Zhou Sui stopped explaining, took a step back, and pushed off with her foot, sending Wang Laizi tumbling down the small slope.
Zhang Xinfeng stared in disbelief at everything. Zhou Sui leaned over to look at Wang Laizi lying on the slope below, and snorted coldly, thinking, "He got off easy."
"Don't worry, this slope is small and it's all meadow. There are no stones or branches. Children often come here to play. If he rolls down, he'll only get minor scratches at most."
While explaining to him, Zhou Sui packed the scattered pig feed into the basket on her back, and with a strong push, the basket landed on her back.
"Thank you all, I'll head back now."
After Zhou Sui walked down the slope, Zhao Xinfeng strode towards the man not far away.
"Brother, I never imagined that the girls in our village could be so amazing." If it were any other girl, she would probably be so scared that she couldn't even walk.
The person he called "brother" was Song Qi'an, the son of Zhao Xinfeng's aunt.
Song Qi'an watched the figure disappear into the distance down the mountain and hummed in agreement.
Zhao Xinfeng was used to his quiet nature and said with a grin, "Brother, you're twenty, not thirty. Why are you always so bitter and resentful?"
"Come on, let's go up the mountain. When we were kids, we used to catch pheasants on the mountain all the time. Let's see if we can catch one again."
As he spoke, Zhao Xinfeng darted up the mountain like a monkey, and Song Qi'an turned his gaze away from the foot of the mountain.
He let out a long sigh of relief. Forget it, he'd better put aside all the troubles at home for now.
