"Can you move away? It's noisy."
With just a few simple words and Song Qi'an's disdainful look, Zhou Meimei's face instantly fell.
Noisy? This man actually said she was noisy?
Especially Song Qi'an's gaze, which made Zhou Meimei blush.
No one had ever looked at her like that before. She was beautiful from a young age, and as she grew up, she took care of her appearance. The men who spoke to her were always kind and gentle.
Zhou Meimei stomped her foot angrily and stormed back to the counter.
When she glanced sideways at Song Qi'an's back, she let out a loud snort and turned her head away, her gaze landing precisely on the black sedan outside the door.
Zhou Sui wasn't in the shop, and Song Qi'an had no reason to stay any longer. After finishing his meal, he said goodbye to Li Qiuju and left.
Zhou Meimei had been listening intently to him. If Song Qi'an could greet her at this moment, she would forgive his rude behavior earlier.
But the footsteps grew closer, and even as the figure passed right in front of him, Song Qi'an didn't even glance at Zhou Meimei.
As soon as the person stepped out of the store, Zhou Meimei stomped her foot hard again, just as Li Qiuju turned around and saw it.
"Xiaomei, what's wrong?"
"My leg cramped up." Zhou Meimei forced an awkward smile.
Li Qiuju actually believed it, saying, "Don't sit for too long, and don't stand for too long either, it's bad for your health. Sit for a while, stand for a while, and take turns."
Zhou Meimei nodded perfunctorily in response to her concern.
As soon as the others went to the kitchen, Zhou Meimei hurriedly picked up a mirror and carefully examined her face. Was she ugly? No, she wasn't.
Just as she was reveling in her own beauty, two children who looked like elementary school students walked over with crumpled money.
"Boss, we'd like to buy a grilled sausage."
"What does it taste like?" Zhou Meimei took the crumpled money, counted it carefully, and put it into the drawer after confirming that it was correct.
"It's spiced, and it's packed in a bag."
Zhou Meimei turned her head and called out to Li Qiuju. After receiving a reply from inside, she turned back and waited with her chin in her hand.
Her gaze fell on the two children in front of her, and Zhou Meimei suddenly asked, "Little friends, is the older sister pretty?"
As she spoke, she showed what she thought was the best angle, and the two children nodded blankly, "Beautiful, beautiful."
Zhou Meimei was overjoyed; she knew she was beautiful.
"How can the two of you share one sausage? Let me treat you to one, one for each of you."
She took out her bag from under the cabinet, put the money for the sausage in it, and then asked the kitchen to add another one.
The two children, each holding a grilled sausage, waved to Zhou Meimei with smiles, "Goodbye, pretty sister."
"Okay, okay, okay, goodbye, little friend." That "pretty sister" really touched her heart.
She believed that children don't lie, and that she was simply beautiful.
With the praise from the two children, Zhou Meimei finally felt a little better.
In the afternoon, she was so busy that she didn't have time to think about those annoying things.
After getting off work, Zhou Meimei greeted Li Qiuju, carried her small bag, and swayed home.
Her house is two streets away from the shop, about a 20-minute walk away.
"I'm back." Zhou Meimei called out as soon as she unlocked the door.
"Oh my, Xiaomei's back!" Zhou's mother, Chen Jiazhen, exclaimed excitedly.
When Zhou Mei went inside, she saw several unfamiliar people in the house. As soon as she entered, their eyes all fell on her.
One of the round-faced women said, "This must be Xiaomei. She's really beautiful."
Chen Jiazhen quickly replied, "It's our Xiaomei. She's been beautiful since she was little."
"Meimei, come quickly and call for help."
"This is Aunt Zhang, this is Aunt Wu, and this is this one."
When she pointed to one of the young men, Chen Jiazhen smiled broadly, "This is Brother Wu."
The man called Brother Wu had been staring at Zhou Meimei ever since she came in. Now that Zhou Meimei was in front of him, he actually stood up excitedly and reached out to shake her hand.
"Hello Meimei, my name is Wu Qiang."
Zhou Meimei didn't even extend her hand; she just said "oh."
The man looked slightly displeased, and Aunt Zhang, a woman with a round face, quickly tried to smooth things over, "Oh dear, Xiao Mei, you just got off work, right? Where do you work?"
Chen Jiazhen then asked the man named Wu Qiang to sit down. She also wanted her daughter to sit down, but Zhou Meimei didn't give her any face at all.
"I work in town."
"Mom, I've been busy all day and I'm exhausted. I've already had dinner, so don't worry about me. I'm going to bed."
He then went inside and closed the door in front of everyone, leaving a group of bewildered people outside.
"Well, well, Xiaomei is working hard right now, let's ignore her and continue with our own story. Anyway, you've already met her."
Chen Jiazhen's voice softened a little when she said the last sentence.
More than half an hour later, the living room finally quieted down. Chen Jiazhen saw the person off and immediately rushed to her daughter's bedroom door.
"Zhou Meimei, you brat, come out here!" she said, banging on the door.
"Mom, I'm hungry. Is there anything to eat at home?" Zhou Meimei opened the door after only two knocks and started muttering about being hungry.
Chen Jiazhen glared at her. "Didn't you say you'd already eaten dinner and that I didn't need to worry about you?"
Zhou Meimei picked up an apple from the fruit plate, sat down on the sofa, and started crunching away.
"Tell me about this girl, she's such a grown-up, doesn't she have any manners? Everyone's sitting outside, how can she have the nerve to come inside and not greet anyone? What will the Wu family think of our family's upbringing?"
