Chapter 7: Attempt to extort money backfires, resulting in being thrown away.

Wang Laizi and her son were particularly disliked in the village. The son was a lecherous scoundrel, and the mother loved to take advantage of others and would always cause trouble.

After Zhou Dayong said this, the neighbors who came in later all chimed in to support him.

"That's right, only Granny Wang would say something like that. Look at Zhou Sui, that little chick, she can't even hide from Wang Laizi, let alone go and fight him."

"You know nothing," Granny Wang said, pointing at Zhou Sui. "My son told me that it was Zhou Sui who hit me."

“Dayong, let me tell you, you have to pay compensation. My son is injured, and your Zhou family has to take care of him.”

Zhou Dayong slapped her finger away, saying, "Old Wang, are you crazy for money? Don't you know what kind of scoundrel your son is?"

After saying that, he turned around and looked at Zhou Sui. "Sui Sui, don't be afraid, Dad is here."

His daughter is timid and easily frightened.

Zhou Sui smiled at him, "Dad, I'm not afraid."

She had the guts to kick Wang Laizi down the hillside, so naturally she wasn't afraid of his family causing trouble.

“Old Lady Wang, you said I hit Wang Laizi, did anyone see it?” Zhou Sui stepped out from behind Zhou Dayong and faced Old Lady Wang directly.

“My son said it, who else needs to see it?”

"Hmph, no one saw it, so your son can say whatever he wants. Today he says I hit him and comes to my house to demand compensation. Tomorrow he'll go to Uncle Chen's house and say it was his family who hit him and demand compensation from them. You two have quite the scheme."

Zhou Sui spoke loudly, completely unlike her previous timid and hesitant demeanor.

Uncle Chen, whom she mentioned, immediately chimed in, "Dare! If she dares to try and extort money from my family, I'll break Wang Laizi's legs."

Uncle Chen was a hunter in his younger days. He was tall and strong, and his harsh voice was quite intimidating.

"When did I...?"

Before Granny Wang could finish speaking, Zhou Sui interrupted her.

"Oh, I understand."

Zhou Sui feigned sudden realization, and everyone looked at her.

"Wang Laizi said yesterday that Aunt Gao's son threw stones at him, caused trouble at Aunt Gao's house, and got money. He wouldn't be trying to use the same trick to ask for money at my house today, would he?"

As soon as these words were spoken, a person rushed out from the crowd, pointed at Wang Pozi's nose, and began to curse.

"You old hag, I knew my son was such a good boy, how could he do such a thing?"

"So it really was you and your son trying to extort money from us."

The person speaking was Aunt Gao. Zhou Sui brought this up on purpose because she knew that Aunt Gao's family had paid the money unwillingly, and now that she had the chance, Aunt Gao would definitely want the money back.

"Give me back the money from my family."

Granny Wang was short and had no ability to talk back when people pointed at her and cursed her, so she simply sat down on the ground.

Just as she was about to start wailing, Zhou Sui spoke up again, "Look everyone, this is how she got money from Aunt Gao's house yesterday, and she's doing it again today."

Granny Wang's mouth was already open, but the shout that was about to come out was abruptly stopped. This was something she often did: throw a tantrum and roll on the ground. When people couldn't stand it anymore, they would give her money in return.

“Yes, yes, Sui Sui is right. It was exactly the same yesterday. She even cried and slapped the ground at the same time.” Aunt Gao chimed in.

Granny Wang's hand, which she had just raised, froze in mid-air; she was somewhat at a loss.

"Damn it, they're addicted to extorting money." Zhou Dayong cursed and stepped forward to stand in front of Granny Wang.

"Hey guys, give me a hand and help carry this old woman outside."

"From now on, if she tries to extort money from someone's house, just throw her out and let her extort money on the main street."

As he spoke, he reached out and lifted Granny Wang by the shoulder. Granny Wang, an old woman with bound feet, was lifted up just like that. People around her saw this and rushed to help, saying things as they did so.

"You know what, Dayong, that's a great idea."

Granny Wang tried to struggle, but she couldn't overcome the strength and numbers of the people. She kept shouting, unwilling to give up.

“I didn’t extort money from anyone. It was Zhou Sui who hit my son and pushed him down the mountain. My son told me this himself.”

"Pay me money! Let me go! Make the Zhou family pay me money!"

Zhou Sui stood still, coldly watching the shrill Wang Pozi, her eyes filled with icy indifference.

That scoundrel Wang Laizi will get his comeuppance sooner or later.

To be precise, only three people know about this incident today: her, Zhao Xinfeng, and his cousin.

Zhao Xinfeng, who committed the assault, didn't want to be extorted by the Wang family, so they wouldn't expose him.

As for Zhang Xiaoqing, if she really comes out to testify, then I have some questions for her.

"Look, it's that girl." Granny Wang's heart trembled when she caught sight of Zhou Sui's eyes. She wanted to show everyone, but no one listened to her. They carried her to the side of the road.

Just as everyone was about to leave, the two boys standing by the door hurriedly walked away.

"I was even saying I'd go in and be a witness for Sister Zhou Sui." Zhao Xinfeng glanced back and saw that Granny Wang had been abandoned by the roadside, crying and shouting, but no one cared.

As they came down the mountain, they saw Granny Wang shouting that she was coming to the Zhou family to settle accounts. Zhao Xinfeng couldn't stand Wang Laizi, so he deliberately went around to see her. If the Wang family was trying to extort money from them, he could be a witness and not let the bad guys get away with it.

Song Qi'an said calmly, "It's better without you as a witness."

"Huh?" Zhao Xinfeng looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"Think about it yourself." With that, Song Qi'an strode forward, but Zhou Sui's slender figure flashed through his mind. She looked small, but she was not only brave but also very interesting.

"Hey, brother, don't walk so fast, what do you mean?" Zhao Xinfeng chased after them, and the two figures quickly disappeared down the road leading to the Zhou family's house.

Li Qiuju was picking vegetables in the garden when she heard someone mention it, so she rushed back.

"That old woman is shameless." Even someone as gentle as her couldn't help but curse.

"Sui Sui," Li Qiuju said, then added with some concern, "did you run into Wang Laizi today?"

Seeing Zhou Sui shake her head, Li Qiuju finally felt relieved. She kept nagging her daughter, "Be careful when you go out in the future. Stay away from Wang Laizi if you run into him."

“He’s so old and has such a bad temper, he’s just given up on himself. You’re still a young girl, you can’t let him ruin your reputation.”

What Li Qiuju said was exactly what Zhou Sui was thinking. Who knew what that scoundrel Wang Laizi would say, which made Zhou Sui unable to lift her head in embarrassment.

"Mom, I know." Zhou Sui replied to each of them, and then said, "Mom, I plan to go to the city tomorrow."

"What are you going to the city for?" Li Qiuju reacted rather strongly. "Sui Sui, is she the one who came to see you a few days ago?"
