There's a saying that goes something like this: the most handsome men are those who work hard.
In Zhou Sui's opinion, Song Qi'an was incredibly handsome. Of course, Zhou Sui only dared to praise him in her heart, and she was too embarrassed to say it to Song Qi'an's face.
Now that we've confirmed the area's potential, what are we waiting for? Of course, we should buy a house here! If not now, when?
“Didn’t you say your dad wouldn’t let you buy it? Now you can buy it yourself.” Zhou Sui knew that in a few years, the houses and shops on this street would have increased in value several times over.
She herself didn't have the means to buy an entire street, but she really hoped that Song Qi'an could buy one too, since this place would become incredibly valuable in the future.
“But even if you buy it, you’ll probably just rent it out. No one in your family does business.” Song Qi’an has his own job, and Zhao Wenxiu doesn’t seem like the type to run a business.
Zhou Sui chattered on and on, with Song Qi'an occasionally chiming in with a comment.
"I'll buy a place with you, and you can keep an eye on it for me."
Zhou Sui readily agreed, "No problem."
The two sat down at the storefront they had previously chosen. A middle-aged woman lived there; she worked in an electronics factory and would come here to sleep after her night shift.
The older sister opened the door wide and led the two inside, saying, "The storefronts in this row are all tall and wide."
"When the time comes, you can build a staircase and divide this place into two floors. Buy one storefront and get two floors. Isn't that a great deal?"
Perhaps because no one had come to see the house for a long time, the older sister was very enthusiastic and explained everything clearly.
“We’re not asking for a high price. We bought it for over six thousand back then, and now we can sell it for just five thousand.”
Upon hearing the price, Zhou Sui was secretly delighted, as it was cheaper than she had imagined.
"Now that you've found this place, you should know that we're losing a lot of money at this price, but there's nothing we can do. Our homes are too far from here, so we can't live here or use this place. We might as well turn the money into cash and do something else."
Seeing that they didn't say anything, the older woman continued, "I saw that you all came around at the beginning, so you must have asked about the prices. My house is definitely the cheapest on this street."
After looking around, Zhou Sui asked, "Are all the houses on this street basically like this?"
The older woman said, "They're all pretty much the same, maybe a little taller or a little wider. It's only a few square meters, you can't really tell anything."
"Little sisters, how do you think it is? Are you satisfied?" the eldest sister asked again anxiously.
Zhou Sui and Song Qi'an exchanged a glance. "Big sister, let's discuss this first."
"Okay, you two discuss it. Buying a house is a big deal, and a couple should discuss it together. Back when my deadbeat husband bought this house, he didn't discuss it with me at all, and we lost so much money. It made me so angry."
The older sister was still scolding her husband, and Zhou Sui was so choked by her own saliva that she couldn't speak, her face turning bright red.
Song Qi'an patted her back and said, "Be careful, you can cough like this just by talking."
Zhou Sui, disregarding Song Qi'an, quickly explained to her older sister, "Big sister, we're not a couple."
"What? No?" The older woman looked at the two of them with suspicion.
Just as Zhou Sui was about to say that they were siblings next door, she heard the older sister say, "They don't even look like siblings."
"The young man's eyes never left you; I thought you two were newlyweds."
"But it doesn't matter. Whether you're a couple or siblings, it's none of my business. I only care whether you like this house."
Zhou Sui opened her mouth several times but didn't know what to say, so she simply shut up.
Song Qi'an, however, had a smile on his face, looking like he was in a good mood. But when Zhou Sui's gaze swept over him, he desperately straightened the corners of his mouth, forming an odd arc.
"Are you satisfied with this house?" To avoid Zhou Sui's follow-up questions, Song Qi'an simply changed the subject.
"I'm very satisfied." Both the price and the location are quite satisfactory. "But this lady is in such a hurry to sell the house."
They can't stop talking about whether they like it or not.
"She's probably afraid that the house won't sell and she'll lose money." It's not just her; many people on this street probably think the same way.
Zhou Sui also knew that this was the most common reason. It's like when you're selling clothes, and no one stops to look at them all day. But when someone finally comes by, you'll definitely have to put in your best effort to close the deal.
"Seeing how anxious she is, we can try to lower the price further. She's already lost money, so she's not afraid of losing a little more." Zhou Sui covered her mouth and laughed as soon as Song Qi'an finished speaking.
"I never thought you were so cunning before. You're just taking advantage of my misfortune."
Song Qi'an raised an eyebrow, smiled slightly, and looked somewhat roguish. "She brought this calamity upon herself."
If that older woman hadn't been so eager, Song Qi'an definitely wouldn't have wanted her to lose too much.
"Then we can't let this older sister down." Zhou Sui smiled slyly. Who would complain about having too much money? Of course, the lower the price, the better.
The two turned and walked towards the storefront. The older woman seemed to have been watching them the whole time. When she saw the two turn to walk back, she stood up excitedly.
She had just taken a step when Zhou Sui suddenly felt her vision blur. She instinctively reached out to support herself on Song Qi'an beside her.
"Sui Sui?" Song Qi'an was initially surprised by Zhou Sui's sudden closeness, but when he turned to the side, he noticed that Zhou Sui's expression was strange.
He seemed to be in a daze, his eyes wide open, as if he were looking at something.
"Sui Sui?" Song Qi'an called out once, but Zhou Sui didn't respond. He called again and hurriedly put his hand on Zhou Sui's shoulder to prevent her from falling.
