After the Lantern Festival, Song Qi'an became busy. In addition to the hot spring hotel project in Cao County, he started other projects, but he still made time to have dinner with Zhou Sui every day.
After spending several days with him, Zhou Sui didn't want him to work so hard, so she told him not to come anymore.
"Don't worry, I'm going to find my older brother to have dinner with."
"I'll definitely eat well. I'll text you what we're having when we eat."
"Then you should eat well too, don't forget everything else when you're busy with the project."
"Okay, bye-bye, see you tonight." Zhou Sui hung up the phone and checked the time. There were only ten minutes left until midnight. She stretched her arms and felt stiff after looking at the reports all morning.
After shutting down her computer, she got up and walked towards the company across the street. She had been eating with Song Qi'an for the past few days and hadn't eaten with Zhou Peng for several days. She was worried that if she arrived late, Zhou Peng would have started eating first, so she arrived a few minutes early.
However, when she went over to ask, the receptionist told her that Zhou Peng had left about twenty minutes earlier.
Zhou Sui didn't ask any further questions, assuming that Zhou Peng was busy with some official business, because he was a very self-disciplined person who strictly followed the rules of work, and would rarely be late or leave early.
When Song Qi'an was with her, the two of them would drive to other places to eat. Today, Zhou Sui was alone and she was too lazy to go, so she planned to eat at a nearby restaurant.
There was a noodle shop on this street that had been open for a long time. The master chef's skills were rare. Zhou Sui went in because of the aroma when she passed by.
The shop was already mostly full, so Zhou Sui found a relatively secluded corner to sit down. As soon as she sat down, she caught sight of a familiar face—no, two familiar faces.
Zhou Sui was surprised to find Zhou Peng, who had left early, in the noodle shop. But that wasn't the important thing. What really surprised Zhou Sui was Tang Jia sitting across from him.
At that moment, Tang Jia was drinking soup with a spoon. Zhou Peng looked at her tenderly and said something, but Zhou Sui was too far away to hear him.
But Zhou Sui no longer cares about that. She's all too familiar with Zhou Peng's gaze; that's exactly how Song Qi'an looks at her.
Zhou Peng? Tang Jia? Zhou Sui silently repeated these two names in her mind, recalling the incident between the two at the police station before the Lunar New Year. Now, only a few months later, things have already progressed to this point.
Moreover, if Zhou Sui is mistaken, didn't Tang Jia like Song Qi?
"Hello, your noodles are ready. Please stir them before eating to prevent them from clumping together." The waiter placed the noodles on the table. Zhou Sui glanced at the noodles quickly, stirring them with her chopsticks, but her gaze remained fixed on Zhou Peng and the other person.
She was completely overwhelmed with surprise and curiosity, and the noodles in front of her didn't even taste good anymore, until Song Qi'an called.
Because he hadn't received a message from Zhou Sui telling him what she had for lunch, Song Qi'an was worried that Zhou Sui hadn't eaten properly, so he called to ask how she was doing.
As soon as the call connected, Zhou Sui lowered her voice considerably, but her excitement was still impossible to hide.
"You'd never guess who I ran into while I was eating."
“My brother and Tang Jia.”
"You'd never guess what's going on between them now." Zhou Suiyue said excitedly, her face beaming with a doting smile, because she had never seen Zhou Peng look at her with that kind of expression, with such tenderness in his eyes.
"Ahhh!" Zhou Sui almost screamed out loud, "Oh my god, what did I just see!"
I don’t know if she was a little too loud, but Tang Jia, who was diagonally opposite, turned her head and looked around. But Zhou Sui reacted quickly and turned her head away so that Tang Jia couldn’t see her face. Tang Jia quickly looked away.
"What did you see?" Hearing Zhou Sui's tone, Song Qi'an couldn't help but become curious as well.
"When Tang Jia was drinking soup, some soup got on the corner of her mouth. My brother was sitting opposite her and gently wiped it off with a tissue. Tang Jia didn't object."
"Do you think those two might be together?" Zhou Sui was still excitedly speculating about the relationship between the two with Song Qi'an when suddenly a dark shadow landed on the table.
Zhou Sui subconsciously looked up, and Song Qi'an on the other end of the phone only heard Zhou Sui say, "Hi, what a coincidence, Miss Tang."
Tang Jia crossed her arms and looked at her, "I knew it was you, but your brother said it wasn't."
"Since we've run into each other, come sit down and eat. Don't hide away."
She didn't want to hide or conceal it; this was a chance encounter.
After Tang Jia finished speaking, she walked back. Zhou Sui quickly told Song Qi'an, "I'm going to eat now. I'll call you back when I have time."
The call ended quickly, and she walked over to Zhou Peng and the others with her bowl in her hand.
"Sui Sui." Zhou Peng stood up somewhat awkwardly.
"Hey bro, you guys are eating here too." This opening line was probably even more awkward than Zhou Peng himself.
There were three people sitting at the table. The brother and sister seemed a little uncomfortable, while the other person picked up their chopsticks and ate with relish.
Zhou Sui looked at Tang Jia, then at Zhou Peng, and asked blankly, "Brother, what about you guys?"
The usually composed Zhou Peng became unusually nervous. He first glanced at Tang Jia, who happened to be looking up at him, and asked, puzzled, "Why are you looking at me?"
"No, it's nothing." Zhou Peng stammered for a moment, then said under Zhou Sui's expectant gaze.
"Sui Sui, you know Tang Jia. She, she's my girlfriend now."
"Awoo!" Zhou Sui couldn't help but shout in her heart. She had guessed right. Besides that, Zhou Sui had many other questions in her mind, but now was not the time to ask them.
