Chapter 11 Chang Family Meeting

"Brother, what's with you and sister-in-law getting a divorce again? I have a ton of things to do at the oil mill, and Dad even called us back to talk to you."

The sixth daughter of the Chang family married into the Qiu family and provided considerable support to her own family, wielding significant influence within the Chang household. She owned an oil pressing factory, while the two Chang brothers were able to secure jobs at the power supply bureau and street light bureau through the Qiu family patriarch, thanks to her connections.

For Chang Qiuqun, the oil pressing factory was making money at that time. As the boss, she couldn't afford to be away from the shop watching over the shells; every minute she could make hundreds of yuan in business.

"I don't need your persuasion. Song Huizhen and I have nothing to say to each other. We're getting a divorce."

The more they tried to persuade Chang Guomin, the more determined he became to get a divorce, and the more they felt that he could have lived a better and more comfortable life.

“Dad, Amin is not young anymore. If he wants a divorce, let him get one! As long as both children stay.”

Chang Qiuhao, who is the third child in the family, usually dotes on Chang Jing and Chang Ling the most. She immediately asked about the siblings' future.

“They ran off with that guy surnamed Song. They’re ungrateful wretches. You’ve always been so good to them, always thinking of them when you have something good.”

Grandma Chang was particularly resentful that her third daughter was good to Chang Guomin's two children. In her mind, it was right for her third daughter to be good to Chang Decheng and his sister.

"Mom, I'm good to Chang Jing and Chang Ling because they are smart and sensible. How can you say they are ungrateful?"

Chang Qiu's dislike for Song Huizhen is one thing, but her affection for Chang Jing and Chang Ling is another; she can clearly distinguish between the two feelings.

"I heard that Song Huizhen's recent breakdown is because Jianhua, you borrowed 30,000 yuan from Amin?"

Both of her younger brothers were not very capable. In comparison, Chang Qiuhao preferred Chang Guomin's simple-mindedness. Chang Jianhua was too calculating and opportunistic, so Chang Qiuhao had always been wary of him. This incident made her even more resentful of Chang Jianhua.

For example, if Chang Jing or Chang Ling wanted to buy a degree, she would take out the 30,000 yuan without hesitation. After all, as the wife of a construction foreman, she is worth millions, and tens of thousands of yuan is just the cost of two meals.

Seeing Chang Jianhua bow his head and remain silent while being scolded, Chang Qiuhao became even angrier. "Why didn't you tell me you needed money? It's not like I don't have 30,000 yuan."

"Don't curse Jianhua, it was I who borrowed money from Amin, what does it have to do with your little brother!"

When Granny Chang heard Chang Qiuhao scolding her youngest son, she immediately defended him.

"Mom, you know perfectly well that Amin's family doesn't have much money, so why did you still ask him for money? Won't that cause discord between him and his wife?"

Chang Qiu was very wealthy, but she wasn't stupid either. How could a businesswoman let someone take advantage of her for nothing? So, Chang's uncle never even considered borrowing money from her.

As for what Old Lady Chang said about borrowing money from her eldest son, that was complete nonsense. Everyone knows that once you borrow money, it's gone forever.

Knowing what the old lady of the Chang family was planning, Chang Qiuhao had a big problem. It's not a big deal if she's biased on a regular basis, since no one expects anything from her. But using her eldest son's things to favor her younger son and even breaking up her eldest son's family is something else.

"What makes them not get along? How can I make someone as selfish as Song Huizhen not get along? She's not a good person to begin with. Amin will be better off without her."

Grandma Chang refused to accept her daughter's accusations, and she thought it was fine that her eldest son was getting divorced.

"Alright, I didn't bring you back to scold your mother. The problem now is that Amin can get a divorce, but I hope you can persuade the two children. It would be best if Song Huizhen didn't take them away, and at the very least, you should persuade Chang Jing to stay."

Old Master Chang was also annoyed by the noisy house, so he directly expressed his thoughts in a commanding manner.

"We can't possibly persuade them. The only people who can are Qiu Hao and Qiu Qun."

When the second sister of the Chang family, who was the most cunning, heard that it was her business, she quickly tried to shirk it, secretly cursing herself for being stupid and not making an excuse to avoid these troublesome matters today.

She and Chang Guomin were the least compatible. As to her, things like Chang Guomin wanting a divorce and the children not going to live with the Chang family were none of her business.

Ah, it's so nice to have an older sister; she wasn't notified and doesn't have to worry about all this nonsense.

The eldest son of the Chang family has to go out early every day to sell vegetables to make a living, so she is never informed about these things in the Chang family.

“I don’t get along with Song Huizhen, so I can’t advise her. As for Chang Jing and his sister, I can ask them.”

The third sister, Chang Qiuhao, only agreed to ask Chang Jing. It was impossible for her to make things difficult for the siblings. In her eyes, the two children were no less than her own children, and she would respect their thoughts.

“My eldest brother doesn’t want children anymore, so why are you all trying to persuade him? Dad, you’re getting on in years, so stop worrying so much.”

Chang Qiuqun didn't want to deal with these trivial matters. If they were going to get a divorce, so be it; they were always arguing anyway. She didn't have the time or energy to deal with all this petty stuff.

The most cunning second son of the Chang family shirked responsibility early on, while the richest third and fifth sons didn't want to get involved too much. The youngest, Uncle Chang, didn't want his eldest brother to get divorced, but his words carried little weight and he couldn't persuade Chang Guomin.

And so, before noon, the Chang family's meeting ended, and the final result was probably that Chang Guomin could do whatever he wanted.

In the afternoon, Song Huizhen called the Chang family and asked Chang Guomin to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to complete the divorce procedures. However, Chang Guomin was not going to cooperate with Song Huizhen in getting a divorce.

"You can have a divorce if you want, but I won't agree to any of your conditions: the house, the money, and the two children. You can't take any of them with you!"

After the Chang family meeting in the morning, Old Mrs. Chang quietly inquired again about how much money Chang Guomin and his wife had saved. In fact, she just wanted to know how much money Song Huizhen had earned from her stall. As for Chang Guomin's money, she already knew the details.

After learning that Song Huizhen had taken away her savings book containing 50,000 yuan, Old Lady Chang started causing trouble. She insisted that Chang Guomin take the money back, and brainwashed him by nagging that the money belonged to the Chang family and that Chang Guomin should never agree to Song Huizhen's divorce request unless she was willing to leave with nothing.

So when Song Huizhen contacted Chang Guomin, he had already obediently changed his stance and insisted on a divorce. After all, besides his salary, he hadn't saved a single penny, and if Song Huizhen left with the money, his life wouldn't be easy!

"Chang Guomin, you're shameless! You want my money too. I was hoping we could part amicably, but since you're so shameless, I won't be polite anymore. Just wait for me to file for divorce!"

Song Huizhen always thought Chang Guomin was just stupid and blindly filial, never expecting that he would be so shameless as to try to steal her hard-earned money.

This phone call made her see through Chang Guomin's shamelessness and lack of principles. She then told her children about it. She felt that Chang Guomin was so shameless that she needed to let the children know his true colors.

"Mom, don't be angry. Let's find a house and settle down first. We'll find a lawyer to help with the divorce. If no one cleans the house and no one cooks for Dad or takes care of his life, he'll regret it sooner or later."

After calming Song Huizhen down, Chang Jing planned to take his mother to a real estate agency to find a suitable place to rent, as that was their top priority.
