Chapter 13 Another Storm

"Huang Huolian, what are you shouting about? Come back here right now."

The commotion outside the door was so loud that it woke up Old Man Chang, who was taking a nap at home. With a sour face, he called Old Woman Chang home and looked at Chang Jing and his sister without a smile.

"Grandpa, Grandma is a bit agitated. Please tell her to take care of herself! People who don't know the situation might think that my grandma is scheming to get her daughter-in-law's money."

My mom brought us back only to pack her own clothes and personal belongings; no one will touch my dad's things.

Chang Guomin has absolutely no possessions; all the clothes he wears are bought by his mother.

Chang Jing knew that there were people watching the commotion downstairs, so he deliberately mentioned that Old Lady Chang was trying to scheme against her daughter-in-law's property, which was also a warning to Old Master Chang to keep an eye on people.

"Chang Ling, girls are more likable when they are quiet and gentle. Chang Jing, if you were sensible, you should try to persuade your mother more. What will people think of you siblings in a divorced family? Don't worry about your grandmother, she won't scheme against your mother's things."

"My siblings and I don't need to know what other people think. As long as my mom is happy, we're happy, and that's enough."

In the 1990s, divorce was rare, and society generally viewed divorced women with a degree of criticism. But Chang's mother didn't care, and Chang Jing and his sister cared even less.

Looking into Chang Jing's calm and collected gaze, Old Master Chang realized at that moment that Chang Jing was unpredictable; this grandson had changed.

Upon hearing this, Old Master Chang said no more and slammed the iron gate shut. Chang Jing smiled coldly; he didn't care anymore. No one could control him; his grandfather's scheming was deeper than anyone else's.

Chang's mother listened to the commotion outside from inside the house. For the sake of the two children, she didn't want to go out and make a scene. Just when she was about to lose her temper, Chang's grandfather stepped in and stopped Chang's mother from continuing the commotion.

Trying to swindle her money? Dream on! In the future, not a single penny of hers will be allowed to reach Chang Guomin. Old Granny Chang wants to take advantage of her through Chang Guomin like before? In her next life!

The mother and her two children quickly packed up everything they could carry and moved it downstairs. Song Huizhen said goodbye to the neighbors downstairs one by one. When asked about the reason for moving, she explained it from beginning to end without any hesitation.

Given Granny Chang's character, if she were to speak, she would only distort the truth. And Aunt Chang is even more eloquent. Song Huizhen is going all out this time. It's impossible to keep family scandals hidden, so she'll just tell the truth herself, and no one can spread rumors or cause trouble.

Song Hye-jin's actions meant that the Chang family would be the subject of whispers and gossip for the next week.

"Mom, how exactly did my brother and sister-in-law resolve their issues? My sister-in-law keeps telling everyone at the market that the Chang family is scheming to take advantage of her hard-earned money, and that my brother refuses to divorce her because of money."

...Has Song Hye-jin gone mad? A woman who keeps talking about divorce, doesn't she feel ashamed?

"Mom, you have no idea, everyone at my workplace is making fun of me and my older brother."

Seeing his mother's gloomy face and silence, Chang's younger uncle was extremely anxious. He and Chang Guomin worked in the same system, and although they did different jobs, they knew each other.

Now, because of his older brother's divorce, he's almost being viewed through a prejudiced lens as a bloodsucking mosquito.

"What has your older brother been up to lately? I haven't seen him for days."

Since Song Hye-jin moved away with her two children, she has never seen her eldest son again, and she has no one to carry out her plans against Song Hye-jin.

"Brother... I heard that you go to play cards with people every day after get off work, but I don't know the specifics."

His older brother always liked to nag him like a mother hen, telling him what to do, so he never bothered him unless there was a reason.

"Then when you see him at work, tell him to come back. I need to talk to him."

After giving a brief instruction, Old Lady Chang didn't seem to care that she had just overheard her youngest son saying that her eldest son was gambling every day.

A few days later, Song Huizhen learned that her two children were also running a stall, and that her eldest son had even bought a second-hand tricycle to haul goods.

After discussing it, the mother and her two children decided that Chang Jing would be in charge of hauling the goods, while Song Huizhen and Chang Ling would each take on a separate stall to sell fruit.

With Chang Jing's encouragement, Song Huizhen took him to the fruit wholesale market every day to purchase goods, and she also taught her son her skills in selecting fruit.

To Song Huizhen's surprise, her son was much luckier than her. When she went to pick up the goods, the fruit she got was just average, decent quality, while her son always managed to get exceptionally good, top-grade fruit at a very reasonable price.

(Chang Jing: A rare find in the world!)

And so, the fruit that Chang Jing replenished was the fruit he got from his spatial storage. With the spatial storage, the fruit business was so good that it made people envious, and the mother and her two children were working hard to make money.

Today, Chang Jing had just finished restocking Chang Ling's stall and returned to Song Huizhen's stall. As he rode his tricycle to the market intersection, he saw a crowd gathered in front of his mother's stall.

Startled, Chang Jing stopped the car and rushed over. Most of the fruit in the car was kindly pushed aside and watched over by an old man who did business in the same market.

"Excuse me, let me through!" Chang Jing struggled to push through the crowd and saw his mother being surrounded and verbally abused by three thugs who looked like they wanted to eat him alive.

"Mom, what happened?"

With a swift step, Chang Jing shielded Song Huizhen behind him, glanced at the socialite in front of him, and then turned to ask.

"Why are you here? Go back now, this is none of your business."

When Chang's mother saw that her son had arrived at this time, she was worried that the troublemaker would hurt Chang Jing, and she was anxious to send Chang Jing away first.

"Oh? You're Chang Guomin's son? You brat, your dad owes our boss a lot of money. He sent us here to collect it from your mom. If you know what's good for you, pay back what Chang Guomin owes you. Otherwise, you think you can do business here? You're dreaming!"

The young man, smoking a cigarette and looking arrogant, noticed that his mother's stall had been overturned, leaving a mess. The vendors he knew nearby, not daring to get involved, secretly helped Song Huizhen clean up her things.

"Chang Guomin owes your boss money, so go ask him for it. My mother and Chang Guomin separated a long time ago. He's the one who told you to come here to find my mother?"

The only way Chang Jing could know that his mother was setting up a stall here was because that bastard Chang Guomin told him. Thinking of this possibility, Chang Jing became even angrier.

“Your dad didn’t say he was divorced. He said his wife runs a fruit stall here, and your mom is in charge of all the money in the house, so he asked us to come and get the money. Your dad lost 60,000 yuan gambling, and he wrote an IOU.”

The fact that the thugs were willing to explain the situation to you shows they still have some conscience. Chang Jing knew these people wouldn't leave empty-handed today.

“The money Chang Guomin owes has nothing to do with us. Even if you come and overturn our stall, we will not pay his debts. If you do not leave, I will call the police immediately.”

Song Huizhen held onto Chang Jing's hand, not daring to back down. Her son was here; she had to hold him up.

"You're asking for it, Brother Mao! Let's just take action! If she doesn't pay back the money, we'll come every day and take whatever money she makes..."

"You dare?" Before the thugs could finish speaking, a man in uniform shouted, pointing a security baton at them.
