"Jade gambling? Your dad took you to gamble on jade again? You should go, Jing. I'll feel bad if you don't go."
They've been best friends since junior high, and they know what their parents do. Liang Yi has long been curious about jade gambling, and now that he has the opportunity to see it for himself, he's naturally happy to do so.
Jade gambling is a game of life: one cut can make you rich or poor, one cut can lead to heaven or hell. Without sufficient expertise and experience, it's just throwing money away. But Chang Jing is different. In one era, his mission target was the king of jade gambling. Perhaps here, he can also try his hand at jade gambling.
"Alright, let's go and see for ourselves."
"I want to go too! Brother Chang Jing, is that okay? I want to go see how jade gambling works, please take me with you!"
Bai Mei, who had just come out of Director Bai's office, quickly expressed her willingness to go as well.
"Sure! Let's go together then. We'll leave Saturday morning, and I'll have my dad drive back to pick us up."
Tangyuan assumed Bai Mei was an acquaintance of Chang Jing and a pretty young woman, so he generously offered to go together and provide transportation.
"I can provide a car too, hehe, Brother Chang Jing, where do you live? I'll pick you up and we'll go together!"
Although Bai Mei's family is very wealthy, her parents are busy with their careers and rarely have time to spend with her, so she has a dedicated driver and nanny to take care of her daily needs.
After having a lively dinner and discussing their plans for Saturday, the group went home separately.
The next day, after school, Chang Jing went to a mobile phone store and picked out the latest model phone. He also bought a SIM card as a gift for his mother to celebrate the opening of her fruit shop.
He then went to the secondhand store where Liang Yi bought the phone again. This time, he discovered that the people squatting at the store entrance were the habitual pickpockets who specifically targeted other people's phones to steal.
As for how he found out, it's simple: he noticed several people following him after he left the secondhand store.
Silently leading the people to a more secluded alley, Chang Jing stopped, flicked his fingers, and suddenly turned around, blocking the several followers in front of him.
"Gentlemen, you have been following me for quite some time now."
"Brother, now that we've been discovered, let's begin here! Go!"
At the leader's command, only one young, somewhat simple-minded man rushed out and actually raised his hand to hit Chang Jing, while the other three stood and watched.
"What a big dummy! Look at your buddies, they're all standing there watching you come out and get beaten up!"
After casually making a provocative remark, Chang Jing threw the person down with an over-the-shoulder throw, and even kindly withdrew 80% of his internal energy.
"Hey, you three, if you're going to fight, hurry up and get over here. Stop dawdling and you're making me late for dinner. Are you really that bad at pickpocketing? You need four people to steal a phone, and now you're just going to rob me outright because your skills are so bad?"
Chang Jing was annoyed. Four people sharing one phone, it shouldn't cost that much!
"We're here to teach you a lesson. You were the one who got one of our brothers arrested a couple of days ago. Today, we're going to break your hand and cripple you!"
The brother was arrested and taken to the police station; they couldn't get him released on bail because they heard he'd offended someone. This kid actually came to buy a phone alone today, and since they'd run into him, they didn't want to miss the chance to teach him a lesson.
"If you're going to get revenge on me, then hurry up and do it! Stop dragging your feet and stalling for time."
The remaining three were all talk and no action. They wanted the reputation of loyalty but didn't want to actually do anything. They instigated a big, dumb guy to take action, but he was defeated by Chang Jing. These three were all talk and no action.
"He's all alone, let's all go together."
This time, all three of them actually took action. However, Chang Jing was not just someone who was somewhat skilled, as they had imagined. For someone who handled such business matters, Chang Jing really didn't put in much effort.
On average, each person occupied less than a minute before following in the footsteps of the big oaf, or even worse.
At least when dealing with the big, clumsy guy, Chang Jing held back eight-tenths of his strength, but when dealing with these three "shrewd" ones, he used three-tenths of his strength, breaking one of their hands.
"My hand is broken, please take me to the hospital quickly."
When a pickpocket loses their hand, it's like losing their livelihood. How can people like them, who only want to get something for nothing, are lazy, and afraid of hardship, possibly survive without being thieves and pickpockets?
"Big guy, are you still cooling off there? Hurry up and avenge us!"
Seeing the first person Chang Jing had knocked down standing there rubbing his shoulder in a daze, the others who had broken their arms were unhappy. They started arguing and encouraging the big guy to continue provoking Chang Jing.
"Hurry up and pay me back right now, or I'll see how your old mother will afford to go to the hospital for treatment."
Perhaps someone really had something on him. Although the big guy was in pain all over, he still rushed towards Chang Jing. He was kicked away by Chang Jing, but he got up and continued. Chang Jing wondered if this guy was really an idiot.
"Hurry up and run!" Seeing that the big, clumsy guy was no match for Chang Jing, the three whispered a word, got up, and ran away.
"Hey, you idiot, all three of your accomplices have run away, and you still won't stop? Do you want me to keep beating you?"
Chang Jing didn't intend to call the police this time; he just wanted to get rid of the person. Although he didn't strike first, it was still excessive self-defense! He broke the other person's bones, and he wasn't willing to pay compensation.
Upon hearing Chang Jing shout to stop, the big, clumsy man collapsed to the ground, completely exhausted. He muttered to himself, "I can't let my mother go without money for medical treatment and medicine."
Filial piety? Using money earned through petty theft to support his parents? This guy probably wants to drive his parents to their deaths!
"Big guy, do you owe those guys a lot of money? How come you just become a thief when they tell you to, and fight when they tell you to? Aren't you afraid of getting sent to the police station and going to jail?"
