Chapter 60 The Small Manor

At home, Bai Mei was curled up in bed reading a book, sometimes laughing, sometimes worrying, and sometimes blushing.

Anyone with eyes could see that this girl was swooning over Chang Jing; his excessive clinging to him during the day had stirred a sweet feeling within her.

Suddenly, she remembered Li Wenxiang's despicable character and feared he might cause trouble for Chang Jing. It was evening now; Chang Jing must have gotten home safely by now, right?

Bai Mei tried to comfort herself, but a vague unease lingered in her heart. She closed her book and decided to call Chang Jing to ask about the situation.

Just as Bai Mei took out her phone, Chang Jing, who had just returned to his room, also took out his phone, wanting to call Bai Mei to let her know he was safe and to explain what had happened that night, so that she wouldn't worry.

At that moment, Chang Jing's phone rang. He was a little surprised, but he still answered the call.

"Hello, is this Bai Mei?"

"Hello, Chang Jing?"

They both spoke at the same time, and then they both laughed.

"I was just about to call you. Are you home yet?" Bai Mei asked. Had Li Wenxiang stopped causing trouble for Chang Jing?

"I'm home. I wanted to tell you that I had a little trouble tonight, but it's all resolved now, so don't worry. It was Li Wenxiang who brought some people to cause me trouble."

Chang Jing could tell that Li Wenxiang liked Bai Mei and was determined to have her, so he wanted to remind Bai Mei about Li Wenxiang's character.

"What? Li Wenxiang's men are causing you trouble? Are you alright? Are you injured anywhere?"

Bai Mei's voice was filled with anxiety. She knew all too well how awful the other party was; many of her male friends had been beaten up by Li Wenxiang.

"They were just blocking my way, but they've already chased me away. I'm fine, don't worry," Chang Jing reassured him.

"Are you really not injured?"

"It's really nothing. You can come and check it yourself tomorrow if you don't believe me," Chang Jing said with a smile.

"Who wants to check you!" Bai Mei said, blushing. "Then be careful, I'm hanging up!"

"Okay, you should get some rest too."

Bai Mei felt relieved, and Chang Jing also felt cheerful because of Bai Mei's concern.

It's so late, and Bai Mei still called to check on me; she must be really worried. Chang Jing looked out the window at the moon, his gaze softening.

"Bai Mei...?" Chang Jing's lips curled into a meaningful smile. After years of bloodshed in quick transmigration missions, he was no longer the naive and impulsive young man he once was.

On the contrary, he knew far more than his peers. He could understand some of Bai Mei's various behaviors towards him.

Whether it's just infatuation or his true feelings, only time will tell.

Tonight, some people are destined to have trouble sleeping...

...

The next morning, Chang Jing got up early to check on his small estate, estimating that the renovations should be almost finished!

Chang Jing remembered that Grandpa Bai Bancheng once mentioned that people who love flowers all dream of having their own small garden.

His space was rich in flower seeds and spiritual herbs, but he had never had a place to plant them. Now was the perfect opportunity to set one up.

His small estate was a long-vacant house that the landlord was eager to rent out. When he heard that Chang Jing wanted to rent the whole thing, he immediately agreed.

Chang Jing returned to his space, took out many flower and grass seeds and well-grown seedlings, and transported them to the newly rented house.

In the garden, he planted more common flowers such as roses, tulips, jasmine, and white peonies.

They also cultivated some exotic flowers and plants, such as blue orchids, golden cockscomb flowers, and purple hyacinths.

In addition, he decorated the estate with babbling brooks and koi ponds, adding a lot of vitality.

Many fruit trees, as well as medicinal herbs such as ginseng and codonopsis, were planted.

Once the manor was finished, it was a feast for the eyes, like a fairyland. Chang Jing stood in his little manor, feeling genuinely happy.

The air is filled with the fragrance of flowers and the chirping of birds, and the babbling of the stream makes this little garden seem almost unreal.

Chang Jing finally finished decorating the small manor in an orderly manner, with all kinds of garden tools in place, and many flower seedlings soaking in the reservoir.

He spent a lot of time selecting many precious flowers from the system space and planting them in the manor.

Finally, the appointed time arrived. Several old men, accompanied by their subordinates, came to Chang Jing's manor to select flowers.

"Xiao Chang, your manor is really well done. It's obvious that a lot of effort was put into its arrangement. However, these flowers and plants look like they were recently transplanted!" Old Master Bai nodded in satisfaction.

"Excellent, excellent. Everyone says that young people these days only know how to eat, drink, and have fun, and don't care much about these traditional trades anymore. Chang Jing, you've given us a pleasant surprise." Another old man also praised him.

Chang Jing smiled and said, "Gentlemen, you flatter me. I'm just an amateur flower grower. I've only planted a few flowers here here."

"Come on, I can tell at a glance that every single flower you're growing is top-notch. I'd buy just these few camellias."

Everyone rushed to see the camellias, and they were all amazed that Chang Jing possessed such a precious variety of camellias. They chatted for a long time before finally leaving.

Next came peonies, camellias, orchids, roses—a wide variety. The old men even expressed their intention to buy the entire garden, which startled Chang Jing.

Fortunately, Chang Jing cleverly steered the conversation away, and the gentlemen gave up. However, they were reluctant to leave and chose many flowers before reluctantly saying goodbye.

"Chang Jing, these flowers of yours are priceless. This old man will give you at least three or four million for this trip, so please accept them without hesitation."

"This... old man is so generous, I'll have to accept it." Chang Jing thought to himself, "It would be a fool not to make money if I didn't want to." He readily accepted the other party's kindness.

“I know the true value of your flowers. Three or four million is already very cheap. I’m taking advantage of you, old man. If you’re willing, I’d like to buy your entire garden.”

After seeing off the old men, Chang Jing broke out in a cold sweat, finding it hard to handle such enthusiastic and generous old folks who were so quick to give him money.

This flower trade brought him an unexpected windfall, which served as start-up capital for his future as a landlord.

Regardless of how many flowers are left in the garden, Chang Jing has decided not to sell them to anyone else for the time being.

The old gentlemen were so enthusiastic that Chang Jing was caught off guard. He still wanted to take his time to manage his garden rather than be forced to sell most of his flowers at once.

Chang Jing sat in the garden in a daze, still shocked by the amount of the transaction, and also thinking about how to shape his small manor into an even more beautiful and charming place.

He felt that he should plant more fruit trees here, along with the flowers in the garden, so that people could enjoy the fruits while admiring the flowers.

If we could host some guests here and let them enjoy delicious food in such a beautiful setting, many people would surely come from far and wide.

Chang Jing felt he had found a new direction. He decided that in addition to planting flowers, he would also cultivate some fruit trees on the estate.

Perhaps, in the near future, this place can become a place that combines flower viewing, gourmet food, and rural life, a lifestyle that would be extremely attractive.
