"You're dreaming! You can't take anything from this house, and you can't take your son and daughter with you either!"
Upon hearing Chang Ma's words, Chang Guomin jumped up angrily, his clenched fists looking as if they were about to be swung out at any moment.
“Dad, we’re all grown up now. If we tell the judge that we want to live with Mom, the judge will consider our wishes.”
Chang Ling, who aspires to be a lawyer, explained in a low voice, her meaning quite clear: she absolutely would not stay in the Chang family.
"don't want!"
"I'm telling you... Chang Jing, let go!"
Two voices rang out at the same time. Chang Jing was gripping Chang Guomin's arm. The intense pain made Chang Guomin's face turn red, and he could only shout for him to let go.
When Chang's mother saw Chang Guomin about to hit Chang Ling, she quickly pulled her daughter into her arms. In the blink of an eye, the scenario she had imagined did not happen; instead, Chang Guomin was subdued by Chang Jing.
"Dad, you still like to use your hands so much." As he spoke, Chang Jing tightened his grip on Chang Guomin's hand, and before he could cry out in pain, he pushed him away, causing Chang Guomin to stumble back several steps.
"You..." This is a great humiliation. His son, who used to beat and scold him, has actually rebelled against him and has such amazing strength.
Unable to vent his anger by hitting anyone, Chang Guomin kicked the electric fan next to him, attempting to intimidate the mother and her two children in front of him.
With a bang, the Chang family's nth electric fan broke down successfully.
"Ha!" Aunt Chang glanced at the mess on the floor and sneered. "The most capable thing you, Chang Guomin, is to smash the things I bought for you. Who are you trying to impress? You might as well smash all the appliances and furniture in the house. I'm too lazy to divide this broken property with you."
As she spoke, Chang's mother unceremoniously grabbed the remote control from the side and smashed it on the ground, shattering it into pieces. Chang Guomin looked up at Chang's mother in shock, feeling that the situation was now even more out of his control.
"Chang Jing, Chang Ling, go back to your rooms and pack your things. We're moving out tonight."
This time, Chang's mother wasn't going to let things go peacefully. There was no point in not getting a divorce; she had seen through Chang Guomin. If she stayed with him, she and her two children would always be controlled by Chang Guomin's wife.
Tonight she'll take her two children to her brother's house for the night, and she'll start looking for a place to rent tomorrow.
Chang's mother packed away her valuable jewelry, bankbooks, and other valuables. Ironically, even though she had been married to Chang Guomin for over a decade, the only two pieces of gold jewelry she owned were bought with her own money.
Chang Guomin was very concerned about his image. After receiving the compensation for the expropriation of his orchard, he bought himself two large gold rings, one pure gold and the other gold-inlaid with jade.
Thinking back on everything, Chang Ma regretted that she hadn't filed for divorce sooner. How could she have lived with someone who was so heartless and ungrateful to her, who didn't care about his children, and who had no responsibility to his family for more than ten years?
Chang Jing and Chang Ling each carried a backpack out of the room. Chang Guomin was smoking silently, and Chang's mother soon came out with a duffel bag.
Chang Jing opened the front door of his house. The old woman outside, who had been eavesdropping, was not embarrassed at all. Instead, she took the initiative and started cursing.
"Chang Jing, did you make your dad angry? Your dad works hard every day under the sun to support the family, how can you be so disobedient?"
"Get out of the way. Your son has worked so hard to raise you. When has his money ever been used in our family?"
Chang's mother retorted sharply, pushed open the door, and led the two children downstairs, ignoring the expression on Chang's grandmother's face.
The mother and her two children hailed a taxi as soon as they went downstairs. Chang's younger brother lived quite far away, and a taxi ride would cost about twenty yuan. Normally, Chang would never be willing to spend that much money, but today she didn't want to save that little bit of money and make her children suffer.
Twenty minutes later, Aunt Chang rang Uncle Song's doorbell, and an eight-year-old girl opened the door.
"Third Aunt? Cousins! Dad, Mom, it's Third Aunt and the others."
As she spoke, she opened the iron gate to let Chang's mother and the others in. Her cousin, Song Yaoyao, took Chang Ling's hand and led her to the sofa in the living room.
"Aunt, cousin, it's been so long! Come and sit here, I'll get you some tea."
Song Yaoyao is the eldest daughter of the Song family. She is beautiful and generous. Usually, Aunt Chang would give her pocket money whenever they met, so she was especially warm to Aunt Chang and the others.
"Sister Huizhen!?" Song Yuming knew what was going on when he saw his older sister arrive at the house that evening with her luggage bag.
In his memory, this was the third time his sister had come to his house with her luggage.
"Sister Huizhen, what happened? Did that guy surnamed Chang hit someone again?"
Auntie had just finished hanging up the clothes when her daughter told her that her third aunt had arrived. When she came out, she saw that the three of them—one carrying a schoolbag and the other carrying luggage—and knew that the Chang family must have bullied them again.
"Yuming, I plan to divorce Chang Guomin tomorrow, and both children will stay with me."
Upon seeing her younger brother and sister-in-law, Aunt Chang, holding back tears, finished speaking and then lowered her head, tears falling like broken pearls.
"Chang Jing, tell me, what happened?"
Uncle Song has a bad temper, but he absolutely protects his sister. He disapproved of some of Chang Jing's past actions. This time, when his sister brought her child to his house to cry, he immediately thought that Chang Jing was too useless and couldn't even protect his mother.
“My dad wanted to use the money my mom earned to buy a degree for my uncle’s son. When my mom disagreed, my dad went crazy and tried to hit her. I stopped him. Then my dad asked for a divorce, and my mom agreed.”
After explaining the situation in a few words, Uncle Song's expression softened when he heard that Chang Jing had stopped Chang Guomin from hitting someone.
“Sister Huizhen, you can live in my house with Chang Jing and Chang Ling. We have no objection to your divorce, but your share of the family property cannot be given to the Chang family. You can have the two children with you. If you need my help, just let me know.”
