Chapter 22 The Popular Noodle Stall

Xu Mingwan arrived in town quickly and was about to get off the bus when Xu Dongxiang called him back.

"Xiao Wan, wait a bit before you leave. I need to talk to you," Xu Dongxiang said, turning around to Xu Mingwan, who was about to get out of the car.

Although Xu Mingwan didn't know what he wanted to do, she knew that her third brother was close to him, so there must be something about her third brother that he wanted to tell her.

After everyone on the bus had left, Xu Dongxiang looked at Xu Mingwan and asked, "Your third brother called me yesterday and said that if you get off the bus, he will take you directly to the bus station. Here is his address. He said he might not have time to pick you up and that you should take a bus directly from Tianshui City."

Xu Mingwan took the note from Xu Dongxiang, glanced at it casually, and then put it back in his pocket.

"Then thank you, Brother Dongxiang."

"It's alright. Say hello to your third brother for me. Sit tight, I'm driving."

...

"Are you really not going to pick up Xiaowan later?" Zhang Xuemei looked up at her husband as she helped prepare the ingredients for later.

"No need, I've already given her the address, she can come. Besides, I really don't have time to answer calls, business is booming right now! It would be shameful to waste a single day."

I'll buy some good groceries when I get back this afternoon, and we'll have a nice meal together. I'm off now!

Xu Minghan rode his tricycle, pedaling hard. It was already 10:30, and he needed to get there before they got off work at 11:00. He also needed to light the stove and boil the water before he could get it ready.

Xu Minghan thought it would be too much trouble to move so many things back and forth, so he spent a few yuan to rent a storage room in an old house next door. He used it to store coal stoves, coal briquettes, and the like. He also bought a few old tables and chairs to set up next to his stall when he set up his stall.

As soon as they arrived at their destination, Xu Minghan parked the car and locked it.

Go to the side, take out the coal stove, light it, and boil water.

Next, lay out the seasonings, meat sauce, and fresh noodles on the table. Then, put a plastic bag over a disposable bowl, add oil, salt, MSG, and soy sauce. Once the preparations are complete, just wait for the customers to come in.

As soon as the bell rang to signal the end of the workday, within two minutes, a number of people emerged from the main entrance and surrounded Xu Minghan.

"Boss, give me a serving of thick rice noodles, with soup."

"I'd like a serving of thick noodles, mixed."

"I want thin noodles, in soup, I love thin noodles."

"Okay, okay, I'll cook it for you now, it'll be quick." Xu Minghan picked up the rice flour strainer, put a handful of noodles in it, and then hung them one by one on the wall of the burning stainless steel bucket.

The noodles were cooked quickly. Xu Minghan reached out and used a strainer to drain the water, then poured them into a bowl. He scooped a few spoonfuls of the simmering bone broth from another bucket and added a large spoonful of meat sauce.

"Everything's ready. Add scallions, garlic, and chili oil yourself if you want. There are also free pickled radishes on the side; add as much as you want!"

"Boss, your pickled radishes are so delicious, I can eat so many of them on their own."

Xu Minghan smiled and said, "Take some if you like. My wife's cooking is really delicious."

"The boss is very generous, so I won't stand on ceremony."

"I want some too, give me more."

Upon hearing Xu Minghan's words, those who wanted to eat immediately scooped a few more spoonfuls of pickled radish into their bowls, all thinking that they would definitely take good care of the boss's business in the future.

Xu Minghan looked at them with a smile. It's good that they like to eat; it means their skills are recognized and they can keep customers coming back.

Like that noodle shop I used to frequent, once I poured in too much vinegar and the owner scolded me for ages.

Although he didn't say anything at the time, he never went to that noodle shop again. He wouldn't go even when invited. He just felt uncomfortable. What difference does it make what you eat? Why should he spend money to put up with her attitude?

"Boss, the seasoning of your noodles is really good, the flavor is just right," a customer said to Xu Minghan while eating his noodles.

"Yeah, I love this chili sauce. It's spicy enough, just my taste. What? Boss, have you been to the Southern Province?"

Xu Minghan took a moment to reply, "No way, I just figured it out myself. As long as it suits your taste, I'm worried you won't like it! If you like it, put in more. You shouldn't be afraid of spicy food."

Hearing him say that, the customer who loved chili sauce was even happier. "Boss, you're the best. The noodle shop I went to before complained to me when I added a little too much chili sauce, saying that chili was expensive and that she would lose money. I can't eat without chili."

Xu Minghan didn't belittle the noodle shop owner, but just smiled and replied, "Haha, it's alright, there's plenty of chili sauce here, as long as we don't waste it."

Since Xu Minghan was the only noodle vendor in the vicinity, most of the factory workers who wanted to eat noodles came to his stall.

Fortunately, he prepared a lot of noodles so that he could supply them all. Moreover, the process was simple; he prepared all the ingredients in advance, and all he had to do was cook the noodles, scoop them out, and put them in a bowl.

"Boss, don't you have any pickled vegetables here? I really like them."

"Hey, He Damin, haven't you had enough of the pickled vegetables at home? You still want more now that you're out here?" a colleague teased. "You've had enough of the pickled vegetables at home, so you definitely want to eat something better when you're out here!"

He Damin scratched his head and chuckled twice, "It's strange how I crave this after not eating it for so long. Aren't all kids from the village like this?"

Xu Minghan hadn't actually prepared any pickled vegetables, but that's alright, they're easy to get.

So he replied with a smile, "I don't really have any here, but that's okay. I'll pickle them when I get back today, and we'll definitely be able to eat them in about a month. Then we can come and eat them then."

He Damin was overjoyed and quickly said with a smile, "Boss, I'll definitely wait for you. I wish you a prosperous business!"

He Damin didn't do it for any other reason than that the boss was willing to take his words seriously and even went out of his way to pickle vegetables. He felt he had to patronize the boss's business more often and promote it for the boss.

Xu Minghan underestimated how easy this business was. In just over an hour, he had finished cooking all the noodles he brought, and those who came later didn't get any.

Xu Minghan quickly packed everything up and put it on the tricycle. He washed the stainless steel bucket right there and put it in the rented house.

Touching his bulging wallet, Xu Minghan felt a surge of excitement. Although he hadn't counted the money yet, he was certain that today's income would be quite good.

Thinking this way, I felt more energetic in my legs and pedaled harder. It usually takes me about twenty minutes to get home, but today I only took fifteen minutes.

With a squeak, Xu Minghan pulled the brakes and parked the car directly in front of his house. He then took out his keys, opened the door, and went inside.

"Xuemei, has Xiaowan arrived?" Xu Minghan asked as soon as he entered the room.

"Third Brother, don't you even look up? I'm right here!" Xu Mingwan said with a smile as he stood up.

It's been several months since I last saw my third brother. He seems to have changed a lot, it's hard to describe. My third sister-in-law is the same; she's not as quiet as before.
