Chapter 156 A Dinner Appointment

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, it's all my mother-in-law's fault, Teacher Xu, and this gentleman, I apologize to you."

Xiao Jun's mother suppressed her anger towards her mother-in-law and repeatedly bowed to apologize to the two of them. She thought to herself that this time, no matter what her husband said, she would not let her mother-in-law take care of the child. Look at what she had done to the child. If this continued, the child would be ruined. He even listened to his grandmother and bullied the teacher. He had forgotten even the most basic respect for teachers.

Xu Yanhong, also suppressing her anger, replied directly, "Xiao Jun's mother, please don't ask me about Xiao Jun's homework anymore. I didn't expect that a good intention could cause so much trouble. I dare not be so kind again."

“Oh, Teacher Xu, no,…”

Xu Minghe, with his keen sense of perception, pulled Xu Yanhong and the two children away, saying as they walked, "You're so kind, look what you got for your kindness..."

These words made Xiaojun's mother blush. She couldn't help but glare at her mother-in-law and complained, "Mom, all you do is cause me trouble. If you think your son's uncle is nice, then move to his house."

"Hey, how can you say that? I'm your mother-in-law. How can you talk to your elders like that?"

Xiao Jun's mother ignored her and pulled the child by the hand, walking straight out.

Xu Minghe pulled Xu Yanhong along for a while before awkwardly letting go of her hand, explaining, "Teacher Xu, please don't misunderstand, I was just afraid that old lady would keep bothering me..."

Xu Yanhong shook her head and said with a smile, "I should be thanking you. I said I would treat you to dinner last time. How about today? Bring the two kids along."

"Ah, it might not be possible today. My third brother and sister-in-law are waiting for us to have dinner." Xu Minghe looked at Xu Yanhong with some difficulty.

"That's alright, next time. You can just call me Yanhong from now on, and I'll call you Minghe, okay? We're friends now, right?" Xu Yanhong blushed and looked at Xu Minghe somewhat shyly.

She felt something was off. She wasn't usually this shy, so why was she blushing and her heart racing in front of Xu Minghe?

Xu Minghe also boldly glanced at Xu Yanhong and whispered, "How about I treat you to dinner tomorrow? I'll leave work early, what do you like to eat?"

"Then I'll wait for you at the school gate after get off work, okay?" Xu Yanhong decided to follow her heart.

"Okay, it's settled then. I'll take you home first."

Xu Yanhong smiled and glanced at the two children. "No need, I'll go back by myself. You should take the two children home quickly; they're probably starving."

Xu Minghan was also standing at the entrance of the food stall, looking out onto the street. He couldn't help but mutter, "Why is it taking so long to pick up a child? Could they have lost them?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Minghe appeared at the corner with two children in his hand. He quickly waved and said, "Here? Why did you take so long?"

"Something came up, so I'm a little late. You guys eat first, don't wait for me."

When Zhang Xuemei saw Xu Minghe approaching, she smiled and introduced him to her second sister, Zhang Xuelian, saying, "Sister, brother-in-law, this is Minghan's fourth brother, Xu Minghe. Beside him are the two children from our eldest and second brothers' families, Xiaowen and Xiaokai. Quickly greet them as aunt and uncle."

"Hello, Auntie and Uncle," the two children greeted obediently as they stepped forward.

"Alright, sit down and eat."

"By the way, where's Xiao Wan? I haven't seen her." Xu Minghe noticed his younger sister was missing as soon as he sat down.

Xu Minghan rolled his eyes at him and said, "Xiao Wan has someone treating her to dinner, unlike you, you're not enthusiastic at all. I introduced you to someone, but you didn't go. I don't know what you're thinking?"

"I was thinking of focusing on my career first," Xu Minghe explained, though only he knew the real reason.

"Fourth Uncle knows our Teacher Xu! We just heard them talking about having dinner together tomorrow!" Xu Dingwen shouted.

"That's right, that's right, even Fourth Uncle blushed, Xu..."

"What nonsense are you spouting, you brat?" Xu Minghe reached out to cover his nephew's mouth. He had been careless; he hadn't expected these two kids to mimic his speech.

Zhang Xuemei quickly reached out to stop Xu Minghe's outstretched hand and said with a smile, "Don't be in such a hurry. Let the children talk. Xiaowen and Xiaokai, you just said that your fourth uncle knows your teacher Xu? And you even blushed. What's going on?"

Xu Dingwen chuckled as he recounted what had happened after school, and then, mimicking his fourth uncle, said, "How about I treat you to dinner tomorrow? That's what my fourth uncle asked Teacher Xu."

Zhang Xuemei became interested and then asked, "So what did your teacher, Ms. Xu, say? Did she agree?"

Xu Dingwen nodded, "She agreed, and she even blushed!"

“Yes, I saw it too, they both blushed,” Xu Dingkai chimed in.

Xu Minghe reached out and patted his fourth brother on the shoulder, teasingly saying, "So you're not focused on your career, but already have someone in your heart. Tell me, how far have you and Teacher Xu gone? How did you two meet?"

"Third Brother, what nonsense are you talking about? We've only met a few times. The house I rented belongs to her maternal grandmother. This dinner was to thank me for helping her today. It's not like what you're saying. It's all nonsense from Xiaowen and Xiaokai."

Xu Minghe waved his hand and explained that although he had some feelings for Xu Yanhong, she was a teacher and probably wouldn't think much of him. He only invited her to dinner to thank her for helping him twice.

"Then why are you blushing?" Zhang Xuemei asked with a suspicious look.

"Isn't it hot?"

"Are you hot in the dead of winter?" Xu Minghan also became suspicious. Wasn't this just like protesting too much?

Seeing that Xu Minghe was sweating with anxiety, Zhang Xuemei smiled and smoothed things over, "Alright, let's just talk. Look how anxious you are. It's okay to thank him, but don't be stingy when you treat Teacher Xu to dinner tomorrow. Bring plenty of money with you."

"Yes, you can't just treat her to a bowl of noodles and call it a day. Be generous and go get some stir-fried dishes. Ask Teacher Xu what she likes to eat first, don't just order a couple of dishes and call it a day..."

Xu Minghe, seeing the group of people across from him making fun of him, interrupted his third brother and said in a low voice, "Third brother, why don't we eat first? You can talk to me again when we go to work tomorrow."

“Yes, yes, we’re all hungry, let’s eat first,” Zhang Xuemei said with a smile.

"By the way, Minghan, let's go to the hospital to see my sister-in-law after we finish eating, and take the two kids back with us while we're at it."

It's not that Zhang Xuemei doesn't want her two nephews to stay at her home; it's just that her parents-in-law took Panpan and Linlin back to the village to visit relatives and haven't returned home yet.

They have to work during the day, so they really can't take care of the two children. If my sister-in-law really gets sick, then she can stay at the shop and help take care of them for a couple of days; that's fine.
