Chapter 61 Winter Fishing (I)
When Lu Xiaoxiao returned home, she saw the three brothers of the Liu family were already chopping firewood at the door, so she apologized to them embarrassedly.
After hearing what Lu Xiaoxiao said, the three Liu brothers said, "It doesn't matter where you chop wood. You don't have to apologize to us."
After hearing what the three Liu brothers said, Lu Xiaoxiao nodded. She quickly opened the courtyard door, went to the main room to get a kettle and cups to give them some water to drink, and asked them to take a rest before chopping wood.
After the three Liu brothers rested for a while, they got up and continued chopping wood. Soon they had chopped all the firewood and put it into her kitchen firewood pile. There was some left that couldn't be put in, so they helped her put it under the eaves.
After the three Liu brothers finished their work, they said goodbye and left.
Lu Xiaoxiao looked at the firewood piled up in the woodpile and smiled with satisfaction, thinking that the firewood should be able to be used for a long time.
At noon, Lu Xiaoxiao suddenly wanted to eat seafood, so she took out a cooked king crab, some shrimps and shellfish from the space. She was afraid that these things would be too cold, so she made a cup of brown sugar ginger tea.
After more than an hour of struggle, Lu Xiaoxiao was finally full. She looked at the pile of shells on the table and couldn't help but twitch her lips. Then she thought to herself that it was a good thing that the edible part of these seafood was relatively small, otherwise, with the number of shells on the table, she would have eaten like a pig.
After Lu Xiaoxiao cleaned the table, she went into the space. She saw that the grains, fruits, and vegetables in the front yard were ripe, so she put them all into the warehouse.
After harvesting the food and vegetables in the front yard, Lu Xiaoxiao went to the backyard to check on the medicinal herbs. She felt relieved when she saw that the herbs in the backyard were still as lush as before.
Somehow, Lu Xiaoxiao suddenly wanted to try the feeling of digging ginseng, so she went to the warehouse to find a small hoe.
Lu Xiaoxiao didn’t know how to judge the age of ginseng, so she just found the one that looked the best and started digging.
Lu Xiaoxiao first used a hoe to dig the soil next to the ginseng, and then began to dig the soil little by little with her hands. After more than half an hour, she finally dug out the ginseng. Although two roots of the ginseng were broken by her, she was still very satisfied with the ginseng that was the size of a carrot and looked like a human.
After Lu Xiaoxiao filled the hole with soil, she looked at the place where she had just dug out the ginseng, wondering whether she should plant some ginseng seeds there. But then she thought that ginseng would reproduce on its own, so there was no need to plant it. So she took the ginseng back to the villa, then she carefully put the ginseng into the warehouse and went to take a shower.
The next morning, Lu Xiaoxiao arrived at the river at the time notified by the captain yesterday. When she arrived, the area around the river was already full of people. She saw an old man in his sixties directing several big men to chop ice on the frozen river. She thought that man was the Wu Baotou mentioned by the captain.
After a long time, they finally chiseled open the ice hole. Dozens of people worked together to throw a large fishing net into the river, and used the power of a horse pulling a circular axis to pull the fishing net underwater.
After an hour, there was still no sign of the net being pulled up, so Lu Xiaoxiao saw Wu looking this way and listening that way on the ice. She had no idea what he was doing.
The wind was very strong by the river, but luckily there were many people there and she was small, so she hid in the crowd and was not affected by the wind.
But she saw so many people standing by the river, talking and laughing. If they hadn't rubbed their hands and stamped their feet from time to time, she wouldn't have been able to tell that they were cold.
After more than an hour, Lu Xiaoxiao finally heard someone shouting on the river: "Pull the net, pull it quickly, one, two, three, pull... one, two, three, pull..."
After more than ten minutes of effort, the fishing net and all the fish were pulled up to the surface of the river. Lu Xiaoxiao looked at the fish piled everywhere on the ice, as if this net had caught the entire world under the river.
Lu Xiaoxiao watched everyone put the fish into the bucket with joy on their faces, and she seemed to be infected by this joy and her face was full of smiles.
After all the fish were put into the buckets, the team leader asked everyone to carry the buckets to the threshing ground and then divide the fish.
