Yu Xi followed him to the basketball court behind the hospital. It was the afternoon sun, and the afterglow of the setting sun was shining on the treetops, casting long shadows.

Many family members who had already eaten dinner accompanied the patient for a walk. When they got tired, they sat on a bench to rest. In this fast-paced life, Yu Xi rarely saw such a heartwarming scene.

She and Meng Yun found a bench and sat down to chat about the new summer clothing release.

"I never expected Ding Dayong to be this kind of person. The silk fabric couldn't be produced on time, and the subsequent sample garment production couldn't be completed on schedule either."

She looked up with a hint of helplessness, the soft sunset casting a warm golden-red glow on her profile. Beneath her high, delicate nose, her sharp, angular jawline was subtly revealed, giving her an extremely alluring appearance.

Meng Yun was so engrossed in watching that she didn't hear what she was saying for a moment.

Her lips parted slightly in the glow of the setting sun, not deliberately ostentatious, like a half-opened petal.

It must be really nice to kiss!

With such desire in Meng Yun's eyes, he could no longer hear what the former was saying; his thoughts had already drifted far away.

He didn't notice at all that after Yu Xi finished complaining to him, she looked at him blankly and even waved her hand in front of his eyes twice, but he still didn't react.

"Are you listening to me?"

Startled awake by the noise, Meng Yun guiltily raised his finger and rubbed the tip of his nose. After pretending to be lost in thought, he turned his head and whispered, "Sorry, I was just spacing out."

Yu Xi didn't show any reproach in her expression; she simply nodded slightly and asked, "You've been quite busy at the company these past few days, haven't you?"

To marry her, Meng Chou completely broke with his family and started Jin Xue Xiao with her. Naturally, the position of inheritor of the group was given to Meng Yun.

The signs of fatigue on his face were impossible to hide, and the faint glimpse of darkness beneath his affectionate peach blossom eyes was all the more striking.

Meng Yun didn't expect Yu Xi's first question to be whether he was busy. This little bit of concern was enough to comfort him. He smiled and replied, "It's okay, I can manage."

"Sister-in-law, please continue about the summer clothing. I promise I'll listen carefully."

Yu Xi rested her hands on her knees, leaned lazily against the back of the bench, enjoying the glow of the setting sun, and repeated what she had said before.

Meng Yun listened attentively this time, sitting upright like a student listening to her lecture.

"So, that's how it is." Yu Xi sighed deeply at the end. "It seems that the release of the summer clothing collection is bound to be delayed. I still can't salvage it."

If a clothing brand's design and promotion are not launched and released in a timely manner, the only outcome awaiting them is loss.

Meng Yun replied, "I don't think so."

Seeing his mysterious expression, Yu Xi couldn't help but ask curiously, "Why?"

"Because I've already found the silk fabric you need, and the finished products are already produced, and there's enough for that batch of clothes to be made." He said it casually, unwilling to mention the hardships behind it.

At this moment, Meng Yun genuinely wanted to help her and slowly approached her.

Yu Xi's gaze fell on his dark circles, and she instantly understood.

Faced with this result, Yu Xi's fingertips, which had been resting on her knees, tightened slightly, gripping the embroidered flowers on her dress. After a long while, she continued to ask, "Why did you help me?"

Meng Yun smiled gently, like the evening sunset, bringing a touch of warmth to people. He looked at Yu Xi and said, "Because we are family, I have no reason not to help you."

The words were on the tip of Meng Yun's tongue, but when she finally uttered them, a barely perceptible hint of disappointment lingered in them.

The family relationships he desired were far more than just mutual respect without any physical intimacy; his love was revenge and forbearance.

"Thank you." Yu Xi didn't understand why he was willing to help her. Logically speaking, Meng Chou and the Meng family had fallen to the point of severing ties, and Meng's father was still angry and hadn't calmed down, so why would he help her?

Meng Yun leaned forward, gradually moving closer to her. As he took the fallen leaf from her shoulder, he said softly, "Sister-in-law, there's no need for thanks between family members. This is what I should do."

Yu Xi suddenly froze, her body as if frozen in place, unable to move an inch. She could only let his slightly red fingertips pick up the fallen leaves that had landed on her shoulder. It was just a light touch, like a dragonfly skimming the water, without the slightest transgression.

Yu Xi quickly sat up straight, while Meng Yun acted as if nothing had happened, clutching the withered leaf in his hand and refusing to let go. When Yu Xi wasn't looking in his direction, he quietly put the withered leaf into the inside pocket of his jacket.

The sky was not yet dark, and the golden light gradually faded away with the setting sun. The evening breeze rustled the branches, and a group of children were happily blowing bubbles under the tree.

Some children were wearing hospital gowns, unable to run or jump, and just quietly watched their friends play.

As Yu Xi watched them running and jumping, she remembered Meng Qingze waiting for her at home, and she got up to leave.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

Meng Yun also stood up, "Okay, it's on my way anyway, shall I give you a ride, sister-in-law?"

Yu Xi straightened the wrinkles in her skirt and smiled, "No need, I drove here."

Meng Yun didn't say anything more. Just as the two of them were about to step out, a little girl of about five or six years old suddenly appeared in front of them, blocking their way.

"Brother and sister, are you leaving?" The little girl looked at the two of them with curious eyes.

Yu Xi casually took a milk candy from her handbag and handed it to her, saying, "Here, this is for you."

The little girl reached out one hand to take the candy, but kept her other hand behind her back, still standing in front of the two of them, blocking the only way to pass, refusing to leave.

Meng Yun knelt down, keeping eye to eye with her, and asked, "Little girl, are you lost and can't find your mother?"

The little girl shook her head vigorously, then turned to look at her companion hiding behind the tree. The companion opened her mouth wide, silently gesturing for her to take out what was behind her.

After a moment of calm and reflection, she simply handed all the wildflowers she had been hiding behind her back to Meng Yun, and said shyly, "Brother, you and sister are both so beautiful. Aren't you two together yet? Take this bouquet and tell sister that you like her. Be brave."

Meng Yun was taken aback by this sudden surprise and didn't know how to react. He looked down at the bouquet in his hand, a small bunch of flowers made up of a few unknown wildflowers from the roadside and pink roses.

He was kneeling, head bowed and smiling slightly, holding a bouquet of flowers. After the little girl left, he was now directly facing Yu Xi.

This scene is very much like a confession, and the little girl who gave the flowers is hiding behind a tree with her friends, peeking out to secretly observe them.

Yu Xi looked at the person kneeling on the ground with his head down. If he didn't look up, his figure and posture, along with his face which was somewhat similar to Meng Chou's, made her feel a little dazed for a moment.

However, this phantom-like overlap in her mind lasted only half a minute before being interrupted by a clear shout.

"What are you doing?"

"Stand up!"

Chen Miao shouted and ran over from a distance with lightning speed. He went straight to Meng Yun's side and kicked him away. The latter didn't even have time to react. When he turned around to look at the shout, he saw Chen Miao running towards him like a husky with afterimages, almost losing his footing.

Meng Yun staggered two steps from his kick and almost fell face down.

After Chen Miao stopped, he pointed to the child who had started the incident from behind the tree and said, "Little friend, they are not a couple. This lady is his sister-in-law. There is no way they could be together."

"They will never be together. Next time, don't send flowers to random people. Go home now."

After he finished speaking, the little girl who had been giving him flowers immediately burst into tears. The crying attracted the girl's mother, but after hearing what Chen Miao said, the girl's mother didn't know what to say. Feeling extremely embarrassed, she grabbed the little girl and hurriedly fled the scene.

Meng Yun was still holding the bouquet of flowers. For him, the happy moment had passed in a flash, leaving him with only a moment of tenderness. His angry gaze could not be dispelled as he stared straight at Chen Miao.

Chen Miao's hands were wrapped in bandages, and his body was burned in more than just his hands. Despite looking sickly, he was not afraid of Meng Yun at all and stood in front of Yu Xi.

"It's one thing for a child to be ignorant, but he looks so gentle and refined, yet he's actually a scoundrel." He glanced Meng Yun up and down, raised his chin, and looked up arrogantly.

Meng Yun tightened her grip on the bouquet, not wanting to talk to him anymore, and simply said, "I'm not going to waste my breath on someone like you!"

Chen Miao instantly got angry and caught up with him. "What do you mean by calling me that kind of person? Think about who you are first. We're both men, do you think I don't know what you're thinking?"

Yu Xi quickly stepped forward and grabbed him.

She was caught in the middle, torn between two people: one who had helped her through the crisis of not being able to produce the clothes in time, and the other who had saved her life.

It's unreasonable to side with either side.

The bonds of friendship between people, the favors owed and the debts of gratitude owed, are impossible to calculate.

Once you've established a relationship, it's like adding two different colors to clear water; it's hard to separate them again.

"Someone like you, as long as I'm around, you'll never succeed!"

Yu Xi grabbed his shirt, like pulling a husky that wanted to charge forward headfirst, and said in a deep voice, "Alright, don't you think you're hurt enough already?"

Chen Miao instantly changed his attitude, turned around with a pitiful look, and stretched out his bandaged hands to her, "It hurts, it hurts to move even a little."

Yu Xi gently patted his hand that was lowered in front of him, "It hurts, why don't you stay in the ward properly?"

"Can you stay here?" Chen Miao turned to look at Meng Yun's departing figure. "If I don't come over soon, and stay in the ward any longer, then... then..."

He himself couldn't continue speaking. Yu Xi was outstanding and charming; no one could help but like her after just one glance.

So it's not her fault that she's liked.

The ones who are wrong are the suitors who keep coming after being rejected.

"I should go back now, Zeze is still waiting for me at home." Yu Xi warned him with her eyes, "Take care of yourself and listen to the doctors and nurses."

"We're having a summer fashion show next Friday, followed by a dinner party. You and I will go together."

Chen Miao accurately captured the key information: "Me? I can go too?"

Yu Xi nodded, smiling as she watched him jump up like a child, then turned and walked back along the path, while Chen Miao, who was beside her, chattered excitedly about the matter.

The setting sun cast their shadows long and long, and Chen Miao, who had long since become a ghost, finally saw his own shadow again during this trip to the human world.
