"Her condition is getting worse." Dr. Liang frowned as he looked at the report in his hand.

“I asked her to come and take a look a long time ago, but she refused to come no matter what.”

Chen Miao placed her hands on the table and asked anxiously, "How long has this been going on? Has she been taking this medication the whole time?"

"Why didn't you try to persuade her more?" Chen Miao raised her voice and began to question him incessantly. "Besides, you know her situation. Even if she doesn't come, couldn't you at least go and see her?"

"As her attending physician, aren't these responsibilities your duty?"

He vented all his anger on Dr. Liang. After calming down, he touched his brow with one hand and slowly uttered two words, "I'm sorry."

He was genuinely terrified by Yu Xi's crazy actions this time. He didn't want Yu Xi to end up like him, a lonely ghost unable to return home.

I don't want Meng Qingze to lose the two people who love him the most.

This worry and anxiety spread, causing him to become unlike himself. He began to pay close attention to Yu Xi's every move, fearing that she might do something that would frighten him.

Dr. Liang stood up from her seat and handed him the report. "Are you President Yu's new assistant? Why didn't I see Xiao Liu here?"

“I’m not her newly hired assistant, but I’m definitely more concerned about her health than her assistants,” Chen Miao explained. Seeing that Dr. Liang still had a scrutinizing look in his eyes, he took out his keychain from his pocket.

Do you know this?

Dr. Liang took the key and examined it. There was nothing special about it, but the keychain was clearly a pair with the one Yu Xi always carried.

The characters Talking Tom and Jerry are obvious to anyone with a discerning eye.

"So, what can this prove?"

"Many people have tried to get close to President Yu over the years, and it seems you are one of them, only slightly more successful than the losers."

Chen Miao spoke calmly, "These keys were used by Meng Chou before; they were his keepsakes. Now she's given them to me. I don't want to replace anyone; I just want her to be happier."

"I think you can see my determination by bringing her here today."

Dr. Liang silently placed the bunch of keys on the table, recalling the words Meng Chou had told him before his death.

"If she ever develops an illness that makes her unhappy, no matter what, you must persuade her to seek treatment and not give up."

It was precisely because of this statement that he always showed extra patience and offered extra comfort when dealing with Yu Xi, this difficult and stubborn patient.

That was the only thing his brother entrusted to him after he knew he would get into trouble sooner or later, and he couldn't help but do his best to do it.

However, following those words came an unexpected request: "If she meets someone who loves her even more than I do, please advise her to be with that person. I hope she can be happy."

Looking back now, Meng Chou had long anticipated what would happen later. He simply didn't believe, nor did he believe, that Meng Chou would actually confront Sun Shuhan and her group head-on.

"Okay, I understand." Dr. Liang was still struggling internally, and even when writing the prescription, her hand holding the pen was trembling. "Go get these medicines, and be sure to tell her to take them on time. Don't do anything that will make her lose control of her emotions in the next few days."

As he spoke, he grabbed Chen Miao's wrist, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, and said what he had already thought of, "If possible, bring her back for a follow-up check-up in a month."

Chen Miao took it and said thank you in a low voice. His complex emotions overwhelmed his reason, and he couldn't care less about anything else.

After he left, Yu Xi, who was lying in the hospital bed receiving an IV drip, slowly woke up. She looked up at the familiar ceiling, got up, picked up her pillow, and leaned against it.

"Who brought me here this time? Xiao Liu?" Yu Xi rubbed her forehead, feeling an inexplicable soreness in her nasal cavity with every breath, and the weakness from being soaked in the water for so long surged up all over her body.

Dr. Liang stood calmly by the window, gazing at the scenery outside. "It's a person named Chen Miao."

"Is he the ghost you mentioned before?" He said calmly, turning to look at Yu Xi. "There are really a lot of strange things in this world, and I've encountered one today."

Hearing his words, Yu Xi immediately woke up, no longer feeling any of the confusion she had when she first woke up. She reached for her silver-rimmed glasses on the bedside table and calmly put them on. "Dr. Liang, I don't understand what you're saying."

"You're a doctor, how can you believe this stuff? How can you listen to what a patient like me says when he's not thinking straight?"

As always, she answered fluently, truly living up to her reputation as Yu Xi, who can always maintain composure no matter the circumstances.

Dr. Liang smiled and said, "I didn't believe it at first, but that's until I touched his wrist, which had no pulse."

“A normal, living person cannot be without a pulse and body temperature,” Dr. Liang analyzed. “Unless he is a ghost, these symptoms are absolutely impossible to appear in a person.”

"Or rather, he was a true walking corpse."

These words instantly ignited Yu Xi's anger. For some reason, Meng Chou's image flashed before her eyes, and almost subconsciously, she grabbed the pillow behind her and threw it at Dr. Liang.

"Don't talk to him like that. What right do you have to talk to him like that?"

Dr. Liang was used to Yu Xi's bad temper and caught the pillow with practiced ease.

He had seen so many patients whose emotions were out of control that, apart from his computer and keyboard, pen holders and vases were glued to his desk, just to keep an eye on these patients who were losing control of their emotions.

Years of visiting patients and providing psychological counseling have honed his skills, and his responsiveness has also improved considerably.

“I’m just stating the facts.” He continued, “Mr. Yu, aren’t you afraid at all?”

Yu Xi laughed self-deprecatingly and asked him in return, "Dr. Liang, have you ever experienced life and death? Do you understand the feeling of seeing your loved one die before your eyes, and being powerless to stop it?"

When she looked up again, tears were clearly welling up in her eyes. "Not everyone is afraid of ghosts. The ghosts you're afraid of might be the people someone else longs for."

"I'm sorry." Dr. Liang put his hands in the pockets of his large white coat. "I understand how you feel. I've also experienced death, but I was too young when my grandfather passed away, and I didn't understand what death was."

"By the time I finally understood, my grandfather had already been gone for a very long time."

As he spoke of these things, his eyelashes drooped and his voice grew weaker.

"So I'm not afraid of him. I even wonder why Meng Chou can't appear in my life like this. I'm not afraid of what others think, and I don't care what others think."

Yu Xi's voice was hoarse, "I think even if he becomes a ghost, I will still bravely embrace him."

Love, the highest of all, is the touch between two hearts.

It has nothing to do with any interests, and is free from any ulterior motives.

Like the ephemeral beauty of the night-blooming cereus, which blooms only at midnight and withers quickly, it is something that can only be encountered by chance.

"But he rarely comes to see me, and I don't understand why."

Dr. Liang slowly closed the window, and as he left the ward, he said, "I will keep this a secret for you."

"Thank you." Yu Xi composed herself and thanked him for the first time.

She gathered her loose long hair, and the moment she let go, strands of hair fell back to her ears. So much had happened recently that she couldn't process it all.

After leaving the hospital, it was already close to evening, so Yu Xi notified the driver in advance to come and pick her up to go home.

Before this, Chen Miao ran around queuing up, registering, paying fees, and picking up medicine for her, doing everything himself.

This inevitably made Yu Xi connect him with Meng Chou. When she was sick and hospitalized, Meng Chou would think the same way and would put aside any other matters to come and take care of her.

This ghost looks so much like Meng Chou in life, yet he refuses to admit that he is Meng Chou after death. Even if, as he said when they first met, he only wanted to stay by her side to protect himself, he didn't need to go to such lengths.

While she was reflecting on these things, she was completely unaware that her home was already in complete chaos.

Sun Shuhan, accompanied by the abbot and his entourage whom Gu Yuan had found, barged into her home and began pasting talismans on the doors of each room. The tables and sofas in the living room were removed and replaced with all the props used in rituals.

The housekeeper was pulled around and kept busy. After everything was arranged, everyone was taken away for an 'exorcism'.

Sun Shuhan wrapped Buddhist prayer beads around her wrist and chanted, "Amitabha, please bless our family with peace and safety. Buddha, please show your power and drive that evil spirit out of our home."

"Brother Sanshui isn't an evil spirit, you can't say that about him." Meng Qingze retorted angrily, hands on her hips.

Sun Shuhan pulled him over, squatted down, and looked him in the eye. "Zeze, you're just a little kid, you don't understand. Look how much that evil spirit has bewitched you!"

"She didn't even call her grandma, and just protected that evil spirit like that?"

Meng Qingze shook off her hands and took two steps back. "Hmph, you're not my grandma. You're all bad people, bad people who want to harm Brother Sanshui. I hate you all."

Sun Shuhan took the pomelo leaf from Gu Yuan with one hand and grabbed Meng Qingze with the other, saying, "You child, you've gone to such extremes, you're truly bewitched."

"Grandma will help you get rid of this bad luck. Come on, don't move!"

Meng Qingze struggled, refusing to listen to her obediently, and kept trying to break free from her grasp.

But a child can't possibly be as strong as an adult.

Taking advantage of the situation, Sun Shuhan struck him hard with a pomelo leaf. She disliked this nominal grandson to begin with. Because she hated Yu Xi, she also disliked her child.

Meng Qingze always maintained a respectful distance from her and refused to address her, which made her even more resentful.

Having finally found a legitimate opportunity to teach him a lesson, how could she let it pass?

"Let me go, you old hag."

Sun Shuhan gritted her teeth and asked, "I'm an old hag? Is that what your mother taught you to call me? I knew it, what kind of good child could that jinx raise?"

Without saying a word, Meng Qingze bit her hand hard, and Sun Shuhan let go of him in pain.

"Mom, she bullied me." Meng Qingze spotted Yu Xi as she entered the room and ran towards her.

After seeing Chen Miao beside her, she turned around and pushed him to leave, saying, "Brother Sanshui, hurry up and leave! They're all going to bully you! Hurry up and leave!"

"Leave? Where does this evil spirit think it can go?" The abbot, dressed in a red kasaya, had a fierce look on his face. His glasses looked like a bottomless ancient well, revealing an eerie feeling. He stared intently at Chen Miao, and the atmosphere suddenly turned cold.
