Woof!

Woof!

The mall was packed with people on the weekend, and long queues formed outside the snack shops. Yu Xi held Meng Qingze's hand and walked slowly, while Chen Miao followed behind them. Usually a hasty person, he didn't seem to mind following them at a leisurely pace.

Instead, he couldn't help but smile as he watched Yu Xi and Meng Qingze's backs. Going shopping together was his wish, a wish he had never been able to fulfill.

On his deathbed, images of his life from the beginning to the present flashed through his mind, but those warm scenes were all figments of his imagination, and even the figures in them were blurry. Only now did he begin to break through that blur and become clear one by one.

"Mom, I want to eat that!" Meng Qingze pointed to an ice cream shop and shouted excitedly to Yu Xi.

Yu Xi looked in the direction he pointed and saw that the line of people had stretched from the store entrance to the north-south passageway. It seemed that it would be difficult to get a table in less than half an hour.

She usually strictly controls Meng Qingze's diet by having the live-in housekeeper prepare the meals according to a diet plan customized by a nutritionist, and he rarely eats snacks.

Yu Xi cherishes her only child and wants to hold him in the palm of her hand.

However, she initially did not agree with this idea, and did not even consider it at all.

"no."

Upon hearing those two words, Meng Qingze immediately squatted down and hugged her legs, revealing his childlike, spoiled nature.

"No, it's been a long time since I've had ice cream. I came out to play with Brother Sanshui today, so let Zeze have some this time." When Meng Qingze mentioned Chen Miao, her eyes, which had been closed and refusing to leave in a coquettish manner, quickly opened. She winked at Chen Miao, signaling him to help her, and then immediately withdrew her expression the moment Yu Xi looked down at her.

Chen Miao saw through his little scheme at a glance, but pretended not to understand, spreading her hands innocently, and decided to tease him.

Seeing his reaction, Meng Qingze assumed he wasn't on her side either. She was about to continue acting cute, but before she could even say anything, she turned around, crossed her arms, and stomped her feet angrily.

"Hmph! You're all bad adults!"

Chen Miao couldn't help but laugh when she saw him like that. Yu Xi was wondering why he would use the word "you" when she turned around and saw Chen Miao smirking.

The latter noticed the probing gaze, and the smile on his face instantly froze. He then took two steps forward, bent down slightly, and picked up the still angry child.

“Come on, Mom won’t buy it for you, Uncle Sanshui will buy it for you.” Chen Miao said, pulling him into his arms and gently tapping Meng Qingze’s forehead with his index finger.

Just as Yu Xi was about to reach out to stop him, Chen Miao continued, "The child finally gets to relax, so let's grant him this little request! Zeze is such a good boy, it's just an ice cream. Come on! Uncle Sanshui will buy it for you."

She shook her head and smiled helplessly, but did not stop her any further.

Meng Qingze nestled obediently on Chen Miao's shoulder, still looking at her with a questioning gaze, waiting for Yu Xizhen's consent.

Go!

Upon hearing this, Meng Qingze clenched his fist and waved his arm with joy, like a victor.

Then he whispered in Chen Miao's ear, "Brother, you look so young, why do you call yourself an uncle?"

“I’m the same age as your mother, shouldn’t you call me uncle?” Chen Miao blurted out, then immediately realized it was wrong.

Sure enough, Meng Qingze looked at him suspiciously and poked his cheek with her small hand.

It's also poking at the ghost beneath the skin—the real him.

He wasn't presenting himself as Chen Miao to everyone; he was his most authentic self.

Meng Qingze retorted, "I'm not a three-year-old child, I'm five years old this year, you can't fool me."

Chen Miao smiled and said, "I don't lie to children."

"Everything I said is true." He said, a fleeting hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes, which was instantly overwhelmed by a surge of emotions.

"How about we bring Mom an ice cream too?"

Meng Qingze nodded and whispered in his ear, "I know, Mom loves matcha ice cream the most."

Chen Miao opened the phone app with one hand and let the little guy choose. "Let's see what we want first, and when it's our turn, we'll just click on it."

He knew, of course, that Yu Xi's favorite food was matcha-flavored ice cream, and she also preferred matcha-flavored cakes and milk tea. She always seemed to have a penchant for things related to her preferences.

That hasn't changed at all over the years.

As Chen Miao followed behind the two of them, he noticed that Yu Xi would frequently glance down at her phone, and even while riding the escalator, she was typing messages.

Sure enough, no CEO in real life is ever not busy.

Although he had never held such a high position, the work of an ordinary employee was already quite limited, let alone that of someone in a high position.

Unlike the CEOs in TV dramas who spend most of their time dating the female lead, Yu Xi is a true career-driven woman.

After she finished what she was doing, she saw Meng Qingze running towards her quickly with an ice cream in each hand, his small figure nimbly dodging the crowd.

"Mom, this is what Uncle Sanshui bought for you. It's your favorite matcha flavored ice cream."

He called out in a childish voice, as if to curry favor with Chen Miao, and handed the ice cream to Yu Xi.

As Yu Xi received the ice cream, she felt a pang of emotion. She remembered that when she was in school, an ice cream like this was something she wanted to try but couldn't afford to buy.

The price of one cup is enough to cover her daily expenses, and every time she goes shopping with Meng Chou, she can't help but glance at the store sign a few more times before quickly walking past.

Meng Chou was very attentive and always paid attention to her little emotions.

While Yu Xi was trying on the baseball cap in the store, he said, "Xiao Yu, you can browse here for a bit, I'm going to the restroom."

Yu Xi didn't pay any attention, simply brushing the stray hairs from her forehead back and casually saying, "Okay, go ahead. I'll wander around and wait for you here."

She moved from the clothing section to the hair clip and hair tie section. After picking up a fishbone-shaped hair clip, Meng Chou happened to run up to her. He put one hand behind his back and said mysteriously, "Little Fish, close your eyes."

Yu Xi put down the hair clip, closed her eyes as instructed, and smiled, "What did you prepare? It's so mysterious."

"You'll find out soon enough." Meng Chou took out the ice cream he had hidden behind his back, his voice soft yet seductive, "Little Fish, do you like me?"

A very soft voice gently landed beside my ear, its warm breath sweeping over me.

Just as Yu Xi was about to answer, a spoonful of matcha-flavored ice cream reached her mouth first, melting in her mouth with just the right amount of sweetness and the refreshing aroma of matcha, hitting her heart directly.

Yu Xi was somewhat surprised and placed her hand in front of her pretty red lips. When she opened her eyes again, she saw Meng Chou holding the cup of ice cream in both hands and handing it to her. He said like an honest little dog returning from hunting, "I just happened to pass by on my way back and saw a lot of people queuing up to buy it. I thought it must be delicious, so I bought it."

Yu Xi thought he had seen through her little scheme, and felt a little embarrassed. She stood there, stunned, not knowing whether she should catch him or not.

Meng Chou had naturally considered this as well, and continued to ask, "How is it? Isn't it delicious?"

"Mmm." A smile played on her lips.

"For Xiaoyu." Meng Chou stuffed it directly into her hand. He knew that such an expense was nothing to him, but it was a different story for Yu Xi.

Meng Chou urged, "Eat quickly, it's hot, it'll melt in a bit."

Afraid that Yu Xi was still uncomfortable, he picked up the fishbone hair clip she had just put down, brushed his bangs aside, ruffled them a couple of times, and clipped the clip on. He then made an "8" with his thumb and forefinger on his chin and asked Yu Xi in a cool manner, "How is it? Does it look good?"

Seeing the person in front of her put on a small clip in their bangs, Yu Xi mischievously picked up another one and quickly clipped it on the other side, admiring it afterwards.

"This looks much more symmetrical."

Meng Chou picked up another one and raised his hand to put it on her, but Yu Xi deftly dodged it.

"Okay, you can put it on me, but I can't put it on you, right?"

Yu Xi took two steps back, holding the ice cream in one hand and opening her phone camera with the other. She seized the opportunity and took a picture of Meng Chou wearing a hair clip, saying as she took the picture, "Such a rare moment, I definitely had to record it for you."

"The aloof and handsome guy everyone talks about is actually like this in private."

Meng Chou took two steps forward, reached out and pulled her into his arms, making her turn her back to him.

He lowered his head and buried it in Yu Xi's neck, looking at the photos she had mischievously taken, his eyes crinkling with a smile, "I only do this to you, and only Xiao Yu can see me like this."

As Meng Chou spoke, he turned off her phone, his face looming larger and larger on the black screen. "I don't care what others think of me. But with Xiaoyu, I won't be so aloof as to refuse to say a word."

He didn't restrain her; his arms were loosely wrapped around Yu Xi's waist, and she easily turned around to face him and look at each other.

"So good, so obedient." Yu Xi went along with it and continued, "Then are you my one and only puppy?"

People browsing the shops kept passing by the two of them. A faint blush spread across Meng Chou's cheeks. He didn't answer; his affectionate gaze was the best answer.

Seeing that he didn't answer, Yu Xi broke free from his embrace, pretending to be angry as she tentatively walked forward, leaving behind the words, "If you don't want to talk, then don't. I'm not the kind of person who likes to force others..."

Before she could finish speaking, Meng Chou caught up with her at some point, leaned down, and whispered a single word in her ear.

"Woof!"

Yu Xi stopped in her tracks instantly, unable to believe what she had just heard.

Even the dignified young master Meng would go to such lengths to make her happy.

Does this count as successful dog training?

Is this still the same aloof and self-possessed Meng Chou?

Countless thoughts flashed through her mind in an instant, but a strange sense of pleasure arose in her heart, and she even wanted to hear him say something else.
