Chapter 244 Memory Lichenosis

A few days later, it was Lin Lin's turn to sit in the general practice clinic.

After a busy morning, patients with various headaches, fevers, and injuries came and went like a revolving lantern, and Lin Lin didn't even have time to drink a sip of water.

Just when I was about to take advantage of this moment of leisure to rub my sore neck and take a break, I saw a young man with a dazed look being helped in.

Lin Lin looked up and saw that the young man was thin and his steps were unsteady, as if a gust of wind could blow him down.

What was shocking was that as he walked, moss fell from above his head, and the tiny green spots were particularly glaring on the smooth ground.

Although Lin Lin was only a few years old, this was the first time she had seen such a strange sight. Even though she had a strong mental state, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.

She subconsciously stood up, walked quickly to the door and looked out. She saw moss debris winding all the way behind the young man, like a dark green path, which was indescribably weird.

The young nurse who helped the patient in seemed to have suddenly noticed this change.

She looked shocked and subconsciously took a half step back, almost unable to hold the medical record folder in her hand.

Lin Lin calmed himself down, raised his hand to signal the nurse not to panic, and looked at the patient in front of him calmly.

The young man was supported and sat in front of Lin Lin. Perhaps because he moved a little too much, suddenly, a large piece of moss fell from the edge of his head. With a dull "click", it landed on the ground between the two of them, splashing a few specks of dust.

The falling of the moss seemed to have touched a nerve in the young man, and he looked at Lin Lin with increasingly confused eyes. His originally dim eyes seemed to be covered with a thick mist, and were unclear.

The two stared at each other for a long time. Lin Lin took the lead in breaking the deadlock and said softly, "Hello, sir!"

"Are you feeling unwell in the hospital today? Can you tell me about it?"

"Ah?" Lin Lin's words startled the young man, and then he asked, "Am I sick? What am I doing here?"

Lin Lin's heart skipped a beat and he frowned slightly, thinking that this situation was getting increasingly strange. The patient didn't even know why he came to the hospital. It seemed that this strange disease of lichen growing on his head had a much greater impact on him than he had imagined.

She patiently smiled gently as she continued, "Look, you have quite a bit of moss growing on your head now. And you weren't in a good mood when you first came in, so I'd like to know what specific abnormalities you've been feeling lately."

After hearing what Lin Lin said, the young man raised his hand and touched the top of his head. Some moss fell down again, but he seemed unaware of it. His eyes were full of confusion, and he muttered to himself: "Moss? This... Why don't I remember when it grew out?" As he spoke, his eyes began to wander around, as if he was trying hard to recall something, but the more he thought about it, the more confused his face became.

"Who are you and where is this place?"

Lin Lin's heart tightened. He hadn't expected that this young man didn't even know who he was or where he was. The impact of the disease was obviously getting worse, and the situation was becoming increasingly difficult.

She quickly approached the young man and said in the most gentle and calm tone possible, "Sir, I'm Lin Lin. This is a hospital. Don't be afraid. I'm here to help you understand your physical condition."

The young man just stared at her blankly, with no emotion in his eyes, as if he hadn't heard Lin Lin's words at all. He kept repeating in his mouth: "Hospital? Why am I in the hospital? What's wrong with me..." As he spoke, he raised his hand and tried to scratch the top of his head where moss kept falling. His movements were mechanical and flustered.

Lin Lin quickly grasped his hand, preventing him from further damaging his scalp, and softly advised, "Don't move for now. We need to find the cause of this. Think carefully about whether you've been to any unusual places or come into contact with anything strange before this."

After Lin Lin held the young man's hand, his body stiffened slightly. After a long while, he seemed to come back to his senses. His eyes were still confused. He just shook his head slowly and said weakly, "I... I can't remember anything. I can't remember anything. My mind is blank, as if all my memories have been eaten away by the moss."

As Lin Lin listened to his words, he became more and more certain that this moss was no ordinary thing. It might really have the strange ability to devour people's memories.

As he was thinking, the originally stable temperature in the outpatient clinic seemed to suddenly drop a few degrees. Lin Lin couldn't help but shudder, and the young man seemed to have noticed something. His body began to tremble uncontrollably, and the fear in his eyes became more and more intense, as if something terrible was slowly approaching them.

Lin Lin suppressed the uneasiness in his heart and comforted the young man as if to cheer himself up: "Don't be afraid, I'm here. We can definitely figure out what's going on and find a solution." But despite saying this, the haze lingering in his heart could not be dispelled.

At this moment, the lights in the outpatient clinic flickered without warning, as if an invisible hand was fiddling with the switch. Every alternation between light and dark made the atmosphere in the room even more eerie.

The moss debris on the ground seemed to come alive in the flickering light and shadow, wriggling slightly and emitting a pungent smell of decay that made people almost nauseous.

Just as Lin Lin was about to open the door and call for support, the slimes had already crawled in through the crack in the door and were devouring the moss debris on the ground bit by bit.

They were covered in sticky matter, and there seemed to be a faint light flowing in their translucent bodies. They moved in a bouncy manner, and wherever they passed, the moss debris quickly disappeared.

But in a flash, the moss that fell on the floor of the clinic was devoured by these slimes, and the disgusting stench in the room was slightly lighter, and the clinic was no longer so gloomy that made people's scalps tingle.

Only after the moss on the ground was instantly devoured by the slime did the normal brightness and temperature in the clinic return to normal. The lights stopped flickering and it was so quiet as if nothing had happened.

Lin Lin was full of suspicion, but he also knew that this was not the time to explore. The most urgent task was to save the unconscious young man in front of him.

She calmed herself down, turned around and walked quickly to the bedside, picked up the stethoscope and carefully checked the young man's physical condition. Seeing this, the young nurse hurried over and handed over a blood pressure monitor and other equipment.

However, before Lin Lin could breathe a sigh of relief, the young man who had been lying quietly on the hospital bed suddenly began to glow faintly under his skin, as if something was moving inside his body.

Then, he suddenly opened his eyes without any warning, without a trace of life in them. He stood up with his eyes empty, and his hands tightly grasped Lin Lin's arm like a pair of pliers.

Lin Lin felt a sharp pain and struggled hard but couldn't get free. The young nurse beside him screamed in fear and tried frantically to pull the young man away.

At this critical moment, a strange bird song suddenly came from outside the window, clear and long. The young man seemed to be struck by the sound, his hands loosened instantly, and he fell straight back into bed and fell asleep.
