We didn't see a single person along the way.
The small shops along the street were brightly lit with lanterns and candles, but there wasn't a single person in sight.
The four returned to the inn, and seeing that it was empty, Tang Nian pursed her lips, unsure of what to say.
Leaving Ye Liunian alone was definitely not feasible, so after discussing it, they decided to leave her in her previous room, where they would stay as well.
"How come there's no one left in the inn?"
The young prince shook his head: "You hadn't been gone long, and the people queuing in front of the theater had probably all gone inside. I felt that the inn was too quiet before, and when I opened the door, it was like this. I searched the inn inside and out, but there was no one there."
"When you were waiting for us in front of the theater, did you see anyone run out of there?"
Ye Liusi has disappeared.
This is what Tang Nian cares about most.
She was quite certain that Ye Liusi was not among those onlookers who were killing each other.
Seeing that the young prince was still shaking his head, Tang Nian sighed.
"What do we do now?"
"Let's wait for Ye Liunian to wake up first." Tang Nian glanced at Ye Liunian, who was still unconscious, her mind a jumble of thoughts.
Lou Mu took out a porcelain bottle and handed it to the young prince: "What is this medicine for?"
"Why don't you ask me? Ask him!" Tang Nian suddenly turned her head and looked at Lou Mu with an unfriendly expression.
Seeing the tense atmosphere between the two, the young prince smiled and shook his head.
After seeing the patterns on the bottle, the smile on his face disappeared. After seeing Lou Mu nod, he opened the porcelain bottle with a serious expression.
"Hmm?" He leaned closer to smell it, and sure enough, something was wrong.
Is there a problem?
"Where did you get this medicine? It can cure your ears." The young prince bit his lip and remained silent for a moment. "But this medicine is only available in the underworld."
Lou Mu recalled the benefactor mentioned by Song Shiyan: "It was given to me by Song Shiyan."
"Didn't Song Shiyan already go to the underworld? You didn't see that monster in human skin, did you?" Tang Nian interrupted, frowning.
Lou Mu recounted how Song Shiyan had come to see him.
"You mean the person who kept staring at me was Song Shiyan?"
Tang Nian simply couldn't connect Song Shiyan with that clown.
Lou Mu nodded.
"How is that possible? My master clearly said that Song Shiyan's soul went to the underworld..."
Who is this extraordinary person who can escape the clutches of death?
The two people in front of him frowned more and more deeply, almost to the point of knotting their brows.
Before they could speak, there was a knock on the door.
Tang Nian subconsciously gripped the sword on the table.
The young prince looked at the door warily and said softly, "I'll go open the door."
He opened the door a crack, and a man in white stood outside.
Who are you?
Tang Nian and Lou Mu exchanged a glance, and Tang Nian called out, "Let him in."
Ji Shuhe bowed to the young prince, then walked past him without ceremony and sat down at the table.
"He is Ji Shuhe."
Ji Shuhe looked at the stern-faced young prince with a mocking expression and laughed, "So you had helpers after all, no wonder..."
“We have burned the entire warehouse down.”
“I know you not only burned down the warehouse, but also destroyed the theater.” Ji Shuhe showed no surprise, his smile still playing on his lips. “That saves me some trouble.”
Tang Nian couldn't help but stand up, push open the window, and lean out to look outside.
Flames soared into the sky from the opera house.
Tang Nian looked at Lou Mu suspiciously, but Lou Mu gently shook his head.
The young prince, however, could not sit still and asked directly, "Where are the people of Jingning City?"
"I have no idea."
"Is the opera house really going to close like this?"
"I don't know either."
Lou Mu stopped the young prince from asking any more questions. With Ji Shuhe being so uncooperative, asking any more questions would be useless.
He said in a deep voice, "What are you doing here?"
Ji Shuhe dropped his nonchalant demeanor and placed his hands on the table: "I'm just here to talk to you about a new collaboration."
"you say."
“I have a way to find that great demon, and I can take you there, but…”
He paused deliberately, and the young prince, as he had hoped, asked the question.
"But what?"
"I won't lift a finger. You kill him." Ji Shuhe said casually, as if he were discussing what to eat for dinner.
Before Tang Nian and Lou Mu could speak, the young prince spoke up, clearly displeased.
"We don't even know what kind of demon it is, how can we kill it?"
"That's none of my business." Ji Shuhe raised an eyebrow slightly and turned to look at Tang Nian. "So, do you agree to this cooperation or not?"
Tang Nian tapped the table lightly without speaking, and Ji Shuhe was in no hurry, just staring at her quietly.
Just as Lou Mu was about to take action because he couldn't stand it anymore, Tang Nian spoke up.
"We promise you."
"We'll set off first thing tomorrow morning." Ji Shuhe clapped his hands and stood up.
Where to?
"You'll find out tomorrow," Ji Shuhe deliberately kept everyone in suspense.
He slowly walked behind the screen, bent down and glanced at Ye Liunian, who was still unconscious on the bed.
While the others weren't paying attention, a wisp of silk floated from Ji Shuhe's hand to Ye Liunian's body and disappeared instantly.
"This girl will wake up in no time."
Lou Mu coldly issued the order to leave: "It's getting late, Young Master Ji should also leave."
Ji Shuhe shrugged, not caring, and walked out of the room with his hands behind his back, thoughtfully closing the door behind him: "I'll come again tomorrow morning."
Once Ji Shuhe's footsteps had completely disappeared, the young prince frowned and asked, "Why did you agree to his request?"
"Do you think he'll still leave today if we don't agree?" Tang Nian raised an eyebrow.
"Stop arguing, look at all this wood ash."
Lou Mu carefully poured the wood ash onto the table. Tang Nian picked up a little, brought it to her nose, and smelled a fragrant aroma.
The smell made her feel a little dizzy.
“This smell…” Tang Nian glanced at Lou Mu, thought for a moment and then said, “It smells a lot like the wine that was made to drink in the theater that day.”
The thought that the wine might be related to the wood ash inside the human skin made Tang Nian feel nauseous.
The young prince took some and spread it evenly on the table.
"Peach wood?"
"How did you know?" Tang Nian looked at the confident young prince with suspicion.
The young prince smiled and glanced at Tang Nian: "Senior sister, it's your own fault for not studying properly back then."
"Shut up."
As soon as she finished speaking, the person on the bed let out a soft moan, and Tang Nian was instantly drawn to her.
"Clean this place up."
After speaking, she quickly went to the bedside.
"You're awake?"
Ye Liunian struggled to sit up, covering her head, and the moment she saw Tang Nian, she grabbed Tang Nian's shoulders tightly with both hands.
Where is my sister?
Tang Nian fell silent for a long time before slowly shaking her head.
"What..." Ye Liunian was stunned. She slowly lowered her hands and sat blankly on the bed with her head down.
"I didn't see her. Did she escape?" Tang Nian thought for a moment and then comforted her.
