Chapter 12 Jiang Chen goes berserk, Lou Mu arrives

Just as Tang Nian was about to ask for more information, she suddenly heard a loud bang, which shook the entire mountain.

Tang Nian was caught off guard by the sudden shaking and almost fell to the ground. She barely managed to steady herself and remembered the loud noise she had just heard.

No, it seems to be two sounds.

There was another loud bang, some distance from Muyun Mountain. Tang Nian subconsciously looked towards the direction of Muyun County.

She was afraid that something would happen to Minghuan and the others.

Just then, Tang Nian found herself unable to move. Looking down, she saw that the previously illusory black smoke had materialized, grabbed her arm, and frantically dragged her toward Mirror Lake.

Tang Nian revealed her snake eyes, and with her still-mobile wrist, she used her sword to cut through the black smoke that was pulling her.

She looked up and saw Jiang Chen rushing towards her with bloodshot eyes. She quickly held her sword horizontally in front of her and gritted her teeth to block Jiang Chen's outstretched hand.

The hour of Xu (7:15 PM) had passed, and without the sacrifice of a fifth person, Jiang Chen completely lost his mind.

Jiang Chen suddenly grabbed Tang Nian's sword. Tang Nian's eyes widened, and she had a bad feeling. She used her strength to wrap the sword.

The next second, her sword was broken in Jiang Chen's grasp.

Tang Nian was jolted back a few steps, spitting out a mouthful of blood. Seeing that she was about to retreat to the shore of Mirror Lake, Tang Nian gritted her teeth, bent down to dodge Jiang Chen's attack, and rolled to the side.

Fortunately, beings like Jiang Chen, who almost only exist in legends, do not possess many magical arts; most of what they know are the martial arts they learned in their previous lives.

However, Chen's strength was too great. Even though he used a mortal body, Tang Nian was able to break the sword made of fine black iron with one hand when he used his cultivation to resist.

Tang Nian was suddenly glad that she had sealed the tomb's exit. Ren Xing'an's mortal body could not allow Jiang Chen to exert his full strength, otherwise she might not have been able to withstand a single move.

That's right, she didn't just seal the tomb robber's hole; the formation she set up was to block the tomb's exit.

Suddenly, a small, crystal-clear white bead landed beside Tang Nian; it had fallen out of her sleeve as she rolled over.

She remembered the bracelet on Lou Mu's wrist.

Is it Lou Mu's?

Tang Nian didn't remember how she got the bead. When she saw Jiang Chen turn around and raise his fist, Tang Nian quickly picked up the bead and held it in her palm. She then rolled over and landed behind Jiang Chen.

Seeing the large crater that Jiang Chen's fist had smashed into the spot where she had just been, Tang Nian swallowed hard and couldn't help but cough twice.

The area around Jiang Chen and Tang Nian was slowly enveloped in black smoke. As the smoke grew thicker, Tang Nian knew that if she couldn't finish the fight quickly, she would still face certain death.

Tang Nian stood up, her white clothes covered in mud and sand from rolling on the ground, and a few strands of her hair, which were tied up, fell down and hung in front of her eyes.

Tang Nian clenched her fist. She remembered that an ancient book had recorded that Jiang Chen's weakness was between his eyebrows.

She has no choice but to take a gamble now, betting that even if she were to be given a mortal body, Jiang Chen's weaknesses would remain unchanged.

Suddenly, Tang Nian felt something was wrong. She opened her hand and saw that the bead that should have been in her hand was gone.

At the same time, she sensed that the God's control over her seemed to have weakened.

Tang Nian didn't have time to think, because Jiang Chen had already turned around and was walking towards her step by step.

Tang Nian clenched her fists again, concentrating her strength in her hands, and a faint blue light emanated from her palms.

Such power never reappeared after she was bound by the gods.

Jiang Chen, who had lost his mind, was not moving very fast. Tang Nian seized the opportunity and swung her fist towards Jiang Chen's forehead.

Jiang Chen subconsciously covered his forehead with one hand and swung the other hand at Tang Nian's right arm.

Tang Nian pursed her lips, intending to dodge to the left, but was pulled back by the silently rising black smoke and took the blow squarely.

Although Tang Nian reacted quickly and used her own strength to block part of the impact, she was still injured by the shock.

The surrounding black smoke grew thicker and thicker. Tang Nian used her power to conjure a sword, cutting off the smoke that was pulling at her, but new black smoke kept coming in.

The black smoke seemed different from what Tang Nian had seen in Muyun County. Tang Nian was entangled in the black smoke, and she could clearly feel her strength draining away, her eyelids growing heavier and heavier.

Watching helplessly as Jiang Chen approached her step by step, Tang Nian resignedly closed her eyes.

The expected pain did not occur. Instead, there was a loud bang, the ground shook, and the next second Tang Nian was pulled into a warm embrace.

Tang Nian struggled to open her eyes a crack, and what came into view were Lou Mu's bright fox eyes and white fox ears, with what seemed to be several tails swaying behind him.

"Nine-Tailed Fox..."

Tang Nian murmured, then lost consciousness.

Lou Mu paused, tucked Tang Nian's loose hair behind her ear, and said softly, "Sorry I'm late."

After settling Tang Nian down, Lou Mu stood up and looked at Jiang Chen, who was struggling to get up. With a gentle wave of his hand, the surrounding black smoke disappeared completely. The bronze cauldron stopped emitting black smoke after Lou Mu appeared, and the eyes on the snake's head seemed to have lost their previous luster, as if it had become an ordinary bronze artifact.

Jiang Chen, now unconscious and only knowing how to kill, stood up and walked towards Lou Mu.

Lou Mu took off the folding fan that he always wore at his waist and with a gentle block, Jiang Chen was forced to retreat uncontrollably.

Jiang Chen, panting heavily, stared intently at Lou Mu with bloodshot eyes, baring his fangs as he charged at Lou Mu again.

Lou Mu turned sideways to dodge Jiang Chen's attack, then raised his folding fan and slashed straight at Jiang Chen's forehead.

The instant the folding fan struck Jiang Chen's forehead, his body seemed to lose its soul, and he fell straight backward.

A bolt of lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, followed by a clap of thunder, and a torrential downpour descended without warning.

Lou Mu frowned, retracted his tail and ears, approached Jiang Chen, and squatted down to begin his examination.

His eyes were tightly closed. Lou Mu pried open his eyelids, and the redness in his eyes slowly faded, and his fangs gradually disappeared.

A large whirlpool slowly emerged on Mirror Lake, and the bronze cauldron floating on the lake disappeared from the whirlpool in the torrential rain.

Jiang Chen was immortal; he left this body and returned to his tomb.

However, the original owner of this body had his soul devoured by Jiang Chen, so he could no longer live.

As for whether he will come out to wreak havoc on the world again, Lou Mu looked at Tang Nian, who was still asleep. That was up to her to decide.

But was Jiang Chen really out of his mind to escape this body?

Lou Mu picked up Tang Nian, and Tang Nian unconsciously snuggled closer to Lou Mu's chest, causing Lou Mu's ears to turn red again, much to his dismay.

He glanced down at Tang Nian, whose face was pale and disheveled from the rain, and felt a pang of heartache. He quickened his pace and carried her down the mountain.

The torrential rain lasted all night, seemingly trying to wash away everything that had happened on Muyun Mountain that night.
