"Since I can't go back to the underworld anyway, just tell me if you need any help with this." The young prince stroked his chin. "Speaking of human skin, I think I've seen monsters with human skin on them before."
Tang Nian frowned: "When?"
"Just yesterday, you asked me to guard the inn. I didn't see anything strange in the inn, so I sneaked out to the backyard to see if there was anything good to eat in the kitchen."
"There weren't many people in the backyard. I walked around for a while before I saw a person with his back to me next to the water tank in the kitchen. He seemed to be looking at something in the water in the tank, and he had a ghostly aura about him."
"I couldn't see it very clearly, so I wanted to show myself."
"Then I saw him pressing his face there, which now I think was him putting on human skin."
"My sudden appearance startled him, and the ghostly aura on his body immediately disappeared. He then turned around and ran into a side room, but when I chased after him, I didn't see anyone."
"The backyard was too quiet, and I was afraid of alerting them, so I didn't investigate further."
Tang Nian recalled the network of secret passages she had seen in the basement of the Ye residence, and a bold idea came to her mind.
Perhaps that secret passage connects to the entire city of Jingning.
She shared her conjecture with the young prince, and unsurprisingly, he agreed with it.
"That would make it even more troublesome for you to catch him. Once he enters the secret passage, you won't even know where he'll run off to."
The young prince's words were like a bucket of cold water poured on Tang Nian.
Tang Nian decided not to continue the conversation with this kid who couldn't talk at all.
"And then? Did you go to the Fuyao Opera House?"
The young prince was very curious about the Fuyao Opera House. When Tang Nian returned to her room that day and did not see the young prince, she subconsciously felt that the young prince must have gone to the opera house.
"Yes, I went, but I was turned away at the door." The young prince immediately lost his spirits when he mentioned this.
Tang Nian glanced at the young prince with suspicion: "You're not just going to walk out the main gate like this, are you?"
The young prince instantly bristled, then slumped listlessly onto the table, pouting slightly.
"Do I look like such a stupid person?" he replied weakly. "I was invisible, but in this theater, it's like being trapped in a maze. No matter which way I go, I can't go in; I can only go out."
"I also tried not to become invisible and just sneak in, but that didn't work either; I was still blocked outside."
He had only ever heard about being lost in a maze from other people before, but he never expected to actually experience it.
But then again, he is the son of the King of Hell, what ghost would dare to lay a hand on him, let alone whether it would be of any use to him?
"Could it be an illusion?" Tang Nian stroked her chin. "Ji Shuhe also said that he couldn't enter the theater, and there was a great demon inside, but I didn't sense any demonic aura at all."
"Great demon? Compared to a ferocious beast like you, what great demon are you?" The young prince curled his lip. "Wait, who is this Ji Shuhe you're talking about?"
Tang Nian told the young prince everything that had happened.
The young prince sat up, frowning as he stared at Tang Nian: "You really trust a half-demon you've just met? Aren't you worried that he's behind all of this?"
Tang Nian shook her head: "I don't think so. Besides, Lou Mu has already approved of this decision."
The young prince couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Only Lou Mu would put up with your nonsense..."
"What are you talking about?" Tang Nian squinted and pressed her knuckles.
The young prince suddenly perked up, his eyes darting around: "I mean, senior sister, how did you retrieve Lou Mu's two souls?"
Lou Mu's soul is not easy to find. Even if he went, he would not be able to find it for half a day. I did not expect Tang Nian to come back so quickly that day.
"Your old man had Brother Fan find it for me directly, so what?"
Tang Nian was completely bewildered. Wasn't this the young prince's idea?
Sending her to the underworld is just a way to seek help from her master, isn't it?
This old man...
The young prince cursed inwardly, but showed no sign of it on his face.
No wonder she came back so early that day.
He had originally intended to set up his senior sister and that stinky fox.
Although he disliked the fox, his senior sister desperately needed him right now...
It was mainly my mother's instructions...
If Tang Nian were to go find him personally, Lou Mu's two souls would have their own consciousness, and Tang Nian would have to make them willingly follow her.
But when Dad takes action, there's no need for such a complicated process.
He's wasted such a good opportunity; he needs to think about it again.
"It's nothing," the young prince said with a laugh, moving on from the matter.
Tang Nian frowned as she looked at the young prince who was clearly hiding something, but in the end she sighed and didn't ask any more questions.
"There's one last show tonight, and Lou Mu and I will both be there. If what Ji Shuhe and Ye Liunian said is true, today is our last chance. I can't just stand by and watch these people go to their deaths."
"Senior sister, it's quite unusual to hear you say that." The young prince shook his head with a smile. He noticed that Tang Nian had been traveling for a long time and was becoming more and more humane. He didn't know whether this was a good thing or a bad thing.
Tang Nian glared at him: "You stay at the inn tonight. You can see the opera house from here, and it will be convenient to provide backup if anything happens."
"Alright." The young prince didn't say much and followed Tang Nian's arrangements.
Just as the young prince was about to leave, Tang Nian called him back.
"The jade bracelet you took that day, was it Jiang Chen's?"
The young prince pouted, "How could Jiang Chen have such a thing..."
"Ye Liunian said that Ye Liusi brought this jade bracelet out of Jiang Chen's tomb."
“That’s strange…” The young prince scratched his head. “Senior sister, don’t worry about this. I’ll find out the truth once Father agrees to let me return to the Underworld.”
No matter how Tang Nian asked, the young prince simply refused to answer.
Tang Nian had no choice but to send the young prince back.
Lou Mu didn't return to the inn until it was almost dark.
Back in the room, before Tang Nian could even speak, Lou Mu walked right past her and poured himself a cup of tea.
"What's wrong?" Tang Nian found Lou Mu's expression somewhat amusing.
Lou Mu glared at Tang Nian with annoyance.
It was rare to see the usually aloof Lou Mu make such a move, and Tang Nian couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You still have the nerve to laugh? I'm just trying to help you."
"Yes, yes, thank you for your hard work, Lord Lou." Tang Nian smiled and bowed, offering a perfunctory thanks. "Then, Lord Lou, have you found out any information?"
"No." Lou Mu leaned on the table with one hand. "I can't hear. It's good enough if Ye Liusi doesn't notice anything amiss."
Tang Nian didn't believe Lou Mu's story, but she still comforted him and told Lou Mu about the news Ye Liunian had given her.
"With Ye Liusi like that, you can't protect her."
"How so?" Tang Nian asked curiously, and sat down opposite Lou Mu.
