Chapter 15 Discussion (2/2)

"Well, she came and sat for a while." Zheng Wanqing considered her words carefully, "Speaking of the fact that the girls' school is currently short of teachers, many classes cannot be held..."

Xie Yun put down his chopsticks and waited quietly for her to continue.

Zheng Wanqing took a deep breath and mustered up her courage to speak: "Sister Bai Xiao asked me...if I wanted to teach at the girls' school." She looked up and looked directly into Xie Yun's eyes, "I kind of want to go."

The air in the dining room seemed to freeze for a moment. Xie Yun's face suddenly became serious. He put down his bowl and chopsticks and responded calmly: "No."

This decisive answer made Zheng Wanqing stunned. She didn't expect Xie Yun to refuse so directly.

"Why?" She asked in confusion, with grievance in her eyes, "I know teaching and educating people is a good thing, and..."

"Wanqing," Xie Yun interrupted her, his voice low and firm, "You know the current situation better than me. The school is a place they focus on monitoring. It's too dangerous."

Zheng Wanqing's voice trembled a little: "I don't want to do nothing every day."

Xie Yun looked at her red eyes and sighed. He stood up and walked to Zheng Wanqing's side, gently holding her shoulders: "I understand how you feel. But precisely because the situation is tense, I can't let you take risks."

"How about letting you take care of the store's accounts?" Xie Yun suggested, "This way you can have something to do without having to show up in public."

Zheng Wanqing felt even more disappointed after hearing this. She pushed Xie Yun's hand away and said in a muffled voice, "Facing boring numbers every day is completely different from what I want to do."

Xie Yun smiled helplessly and reached out to gently scratch her nose: "You..."

Zheng Wanqing turned away and refused to speak. Xie Yun knew that she was stubborn and angry at the moment, so he stopped trying to persuade her. He sat back in his seat and served his wife a bowl of soup.

"Let's eat first. The food is getting cold." He said softly, "We can discuss this another day."

In the dead of night, Zheng Wanqing sat quietly in front of the dressing table, her slightly melancholy face reflected in the bronze mirror, combing her hair with the sandalwood comb in her hand.

Xie Yun leaned against the head of the bed, concentrating on reading the book in his hands, the yellowish light shining on him.

"Are you still angry with me?" He put down the book, walked behind Zheng Wanqing, and took the comb from her hand.

Zheng Wanqing looked through the bronze mirror and met his gaze. She frowned slightly, her eyes full of entanglement and helplessness: "I'm not willful..." She hesitated to speak, the resentment in her heart surging like a tide.

"I know." When Xie Yun leaned over, the unfastened collar of his nightgown revealed a ray of tan skin, and the lip prints with moisture swirled around her hair. "You are my wife, and this identity itself is sensitive. I don't want you to take risks."

Zheng Wanqing was silent. She knew that Xie Yun was right, but she couldn't suppress the resentment in her heart.

He put down the comb and put his hands on her shoulders: "I have an idea, maybe you will be interested."

Zheng Wanqing turned around with a questioning look in her eyes.

"I am an old friend of the editor-in-chief of Ta Kung Pao. They are looking for an editor for the literary supplement." Xie Yun stroked her hair gently. "You are well-read and have good writing skills. You are the perfect fit."

Zheng Wanqing turned around abruptly: "Really?"

"Of course it's true." Xie Yun raised his lips slightly, "The newspaper office is in the concession, so it's relatively safe."

Xie Yun took advantage of the situation and gently embraced her in his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head, but still reminded her seriously: "But, you have to promise me a few things."

"You say." Zheng Wanqing nodded obediently, looking at him intently.

"First, Uncle Zhou must take you to and from the newspaper office every day. Second, do not stay outside alone after work. Third..." He gently held her face, his expression became extremely serious, and his eyes locked tightly on hers. "If you find any abnormal situation during work, you must stop working immediately and go home immediately."

"Also, don't go to the girls' school for now." Xie Yun said firmly, "The current situation is tense. The school is the focus of attention of all parties. It is too conspicuous. Let's talk about it after this storm is over."

"In two days, I'll let Uncle Zhou take you to see the editor." Xie Yun placed a kiss on her smooth forehead. His voice was a little tired, but full of tenderness. "But now...it's time to rest." He suddenly exerted force in his arms, picked her up and walked towards the bed.

Zheng Wanqing exclaimed softly, and then couldn't help laughing out loud.
