Chapter 23 Old Acquaintance (2/2)

Liu Zheng was very interested: "Since we are old acquaintances, the communication will be smoother. Ji Chen, the young commander highly praises the wife's literary talent, you can ask for advice."

Ji Chen nodded slightly, suppressed his emotions, and turned his eyes away from Zheng Wanqing's face: "Editor Liu, don't worry. I know a little about the young lady's literary attainments."

Liu Yuzheng exchanged a few pleasantries, then stood up and said, "You guys chat first, I'll go get the new edition sample."

After saying this, the two of them were left in silence.

Outside the window, the plane trees rustled and the sound of a tram bell could be heard faintly in the distance. Zheng Wanqing took a sip of coffee to break the silence: "I didn't expect to meet you here. How long have you been back? Is everything okay?"

Ji Chen's eyes were deep: "Just returned last month. But you..." The eyes behind the glasses darkened, "You have become the wife of the young marshal."

Under the words of blessing, the dull pain in my heart spreads like a tide. Recalling the time when we talked about literature and art by the Seine River, those feelings that could not be expressed in words now seem more bitter.

"Your writing was so charming when you were in France," he said sincerely, "I always expected you to write a masterpiece."

Zheng Wanqing smiled lightly, with a hint of emotion in her smile: "It's all in the past. I just want to do my best in the literary supplement."

Ji Chen nodded, a look of sadness flashing across his face: "With your talent, you will definitely be able to inject new vitality into the supplement."

He suddenly gulped down the cold coffee, his Adam's apple rolled violently, and he couldn't help asking: "How does Young Marshal Xie treat you? Are you...in love with him?"

He looked at Zheng Wanqing with a hint of struggle in her eyes and tried to force a smile, but it seemed particularly far-fetched.

The glass door was pushed open again, and Liu Zheng returned with a stack of publications.

"The theme of the next issue is the new woman." Liu Zheng pushed the topic list in front of the two people, and suddenly felt something strange, and asked with concern: "Ji Chen, what's wrong? You don't look well."

Ji Chen took out his pocket watch and checked the time. He seemed to suddenly remember something and said in a panic, "Sorry, I suddenly remembered that there are some urgent matters in the printing factory that I need to deal with..."

Zheng Wanqing and Liu Yizheng expressed their understanding, and then Ji Chen hurriedly got up and left with slightly messy steps.

Outside the window, a car horn sounded. Zheng Wanqing turned her head subconsciously and saw Xie Yun's black Pontiac waiting quietly on the roadside, with the curtains of the back seat closed. She remembered that he said "going to the military camp" in the morning, and it turned out that he had been waiting for her here silently.

After Zheng Wanqing talked with Editor-in-Chief Liu for a few more words, she politely said goodbye and left. She couldn't wait to run to the black car.

Xie Yun opened the car door with a smile to welcome her.

"How is it?" He ruffled her hair lovingly and asked in a low voice.

"Everything went smoothly. I'll go to the newspaper office tomorrow." Zheng Wanqing's face was filled with excitement and anticipation.

"It seems that Madam will be even busier than me in the future." He glanced at the time on his pocket watch, "Hurry up, I'll take you to the West Suburb Shooting Range to practice the rest of the part." After saying that, his warm big hands wrapped her soft hands tightly.
