Chapter 31 Eve (1/2)

Zheng Wanqing stood in front of the gilded and carved dressing mirror, her figure was as graceful as a fairy in a painting. The maids beside her were gently arranging the carefully selected dress for her. The moon-colored silk long skirt poured down like water, and the skirt that dragged on the ground was slightly shining like pearls. The square neckline design was ingenious, elegant and generous, just right to show her slender swan-like neckline and delicate clavicle, and her skin was even more radiant and smooth against the satin.

The puff sleeves were fluffy yet dignified, with a circle of intricate and gorgeous lace at the cuffs. The waist was tied very tightly, making her waist look as slender as a willow, as if it could be held in one hand. The hem of the skirt spread out from the waist downwards, and when she walked, it was like clouds floating lightly, or like ripples on the lake, with each step creating a soft arc.

"Young Madam, let me help you tie it." The maid held the shawl in her hands, her eyes fell on the tie on Zheng Wanqing's back, and said softly.

At this moment, the room was silent, Zheng Wanqing smelled the familiar scent of cedar, and a tall figure in military uniform was reflected in the bronze mirror.

Xie Yun had just gotten out of military duty, and there was still a hint of the murderous aura of the battlefield between his brows. However, when he looked up at Zheng Wanqing in the dressing mirror, he seemed to be cast under a spell and was stunned for a moment. His wife stood in front of the mirror, like a blooming rose, so beautiful that he couldn't take his eyes off her. His eyes slid from her slightly drooping eyelashes, across her upturned nose, and finally landed on her bright red lips, and his Adam's apple rolled unconsciously.

"I'll tie the knot..." His slightly hoarse voice, with a hint of imperceptible emotion, broke the brief silence.

Upon hearing this, the maid nodded slightly, gently placed the shawl on the table, then quietly closed the door and left.

Xie Yun's fingertips lightly touched her back, and her butterfly bones trembled slightly with his touch. His eyes fell on the complicated strap designs, and he felt that the design was extremely deadly at this moment. The delicate touch of silk sliding across his fingertips reminded him of those quiet nights, when her hair gently wrapped around his wrists, and a warm ripple surged in his heart. When the last ribbon was carefully tied by him, his lips were already on the back of her neck.

Xie Yun turned her body around. Zheng Wanqing had specially applied bright red lipstick that day, and the bright color made her even more charming. He looked at her with eyes that seemed to be on fire, staring straight at her. After a long while, a hoarse exclamation came out of his throat: "...very beautiful."

Before she responded, he lowered his head and captured her lips.

The kiss was gentle at first, his tongue tracing the shape of her lips.

"Lipstick..." Zheng Wanqing whispered softly with a hint of coquettishness in between breaths.

However, Xie Yun did not give her time to rest and kissed her again.

He kissed her quickly and fiercely, his lips pressed heavily against hers, with irresistible passion, his tongue forcefully pried open her teeth, and penetrated her breath. Zheng Wanyuan's hand, which had been on his chest, had climbed up to his shoulders without her knowing when. She was kissed so hard that her whole body was burning, and her consciousness gradually became blurred.

Suddenly, the tip of her tongue gently entangled with his. Xie Yun heard a muffled groan from his nose, and his palms sank into the fabric behind her waist, holding her tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to merge her into his body.

Their lips intertwined, their breath blended, the air was filled with the faint scent of powder and the cold breath on his body, interweaving into an ambiguous and charming temperature. The gilded carved mirror clearly reflected the closely overlapping figures of the two people.

After a long moment, he reluctantly pulled away, resting his forehead against hers, breathing slightly heavily.

Zheng Wanqing's cheeks were flushed as if she was drunk, her eyes were shining with water, and the rouge on her lips had already spread from this passionate kiss, revealing endless tenderness and charm.

"…The lipstick is smudged." Xie Yun's thumb gently rubbed across her lips, leaving a hint of bright red on his fingertips.

Zheng Wanqing's cheeks turned redder and she glanced at him reproachfully: "It's all your fault."

Xie Yun chuckled, and he took out a lipstick from the dressing table, gently lifted her chin with his fingertips, and carefully touched up her makeup. His eyes were as focused as if he was carving a rare piece of porcelain, and every move was filled with endless love.

"Why are you here so early?" she asked softly, her fingertips unconsciously smoothing out the wrinkles on his military uniform, "Doesn't the reception at the Consulate start in the evening?"

Xie Yun skillfully unbuttoned his military uniform with one hand and was about to hang up his jacket when Zheng Wanqing took it naturally as if they had telepathic connection.

Xie Yun gently rubbed his brows, frowned slightly, and revealed a trace of fatigue: "Editor-in-Chief Liu has something urgent to discuss, so he came here early."

"Young Marshal, Editor-in-Chief Liu is gone." Uncle Zhou's voice came from outside the door.

"Please ask him to go to the study." Xie Yun replied.

When Liu Shizheng pushed the door open and walked in, his long gown was still cool in early autumn. "Young Marshal, I just finished my work at the newspaper office and I'm late." He was obviously startled when he saw Zheng Wanqing, "Young Madam too..."

"Editor-in-Chief Liu, please take a seat." Zheng Wanqing closed the magazine with a proper smile on her lips.

Liu Shizheng looked at Xie Yun hesitantly, and the latter nodded slightly, with a calm expression: "It's okay, just say it directly."
