Chapter 48 Conspiracy (2/2)

He was wearing a navy blue serge suit, his shiny hair was parted in a 3:7 ratio, and the smell of hair wax mixed with a strong scent of mothballs.

The narrow eyes were full of smiles, but the smile did not reach the bottom of the eyes, revealing an elusive cunningness.

"Thank you, Marshal. I'm sorry to bother you." He gave a standard 90-degree bow, his waist bent so much that it almost broke in two, showing his fawning attitude.

Xie Yun raised his chin to signal him to sit down, and the orderly brought him a cup of tea in due time.

Mitsui took it with both hands, his little finger unconsciously raised, revealing a gold watch on his wrist.

"Thank you, Marshal. There are too many refugees in the Japanese Concession recently." Mitsui took a sip of tea, with tea residue still on the corners of his mouth and a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. "Commander Sato sympathizes with the people and sends the military police to help maintain order every day."

He suddenly chuckled, his two front teeth dazzling under the light, "I heard that there are starving people all over the southern suburbs, it's a terrible sight."

Xie Yun's fingertips tapped rhythmically on the smooth sandalwood table, making a clear and steady sound: "Manager Mitsui's visit today is not just to care about the refugees, right?"

Mitsui rubbed his hands together and leaned forward. The smell of mothballs on his suit became stronger. "Young Marshal, you are a Ming Dynasty man. The current situation..."

He deliberately dragged out his voice to whet the appetite. His rat-like eyes rolled around, calculating Xie Yun's reaction at all times. "The current situation is tense in North China, and your army is short of food and wages. We, Mitsui & Co., are willing to generously donate and provide a generous disaster relief fund to help you, the young commander, to successfully overcome the current difficulties."

"Conditions?" Xie Yun picked up the teacup calmly. Hot steam instantly rose up, blurring his sharp outline and making it impossible to see his expression at the moment.

Mitsui's smile widened. He took out a document from his briefcase and spread it on the coffee table. The words "Nanjiao Coal Mine Cooperation Agreement" on the brown paper hurt his eyes: "Low-interest loans to help you buy food for disaster relief... Of course, if you can allow us to participate in the 'cooperative development' of Nanjiao Coal Mine, the interest rate can be further reduced."

"Snap"

Xie Yun slammed the tea lid in his hand shut, and the scalding hot tea splashed out, leaving a shallow mark on the coffee table.

He stood up suddenly, the hem of his military coat drew a sharp arc, and the handle of the Browning pistol at his waist was exposed half an inch.

Mitsui subconsciously shrank back, knocking over the shed behind him, and a pot of black orchid fell to the ground, splashing dirt on his shiny leather shoes.

"Show him away!" Xie Yun's voice was as cold as ice, and his eyes swept across Mitsui's frightened face as if he was looking at an ant.

Mitsui's smile froze: "Young Marshal, why don't you reconsider it? We can add..."

"Adjutant Zhou." Xie Yun shouted loudly.

Adjutant Zhou immediately opened the door. Mitsui blushed and reached out to pick up the agreement on the ground, but his fingers were shaking: "Young Marshal, you are very righteous, but now this is a mess... Loyalty alone can't save people!"

"Manager Mitsui." Xie Yun sneered, he walked up to Matsuda and took the agreement from him, "In my dictionary, there is no word like 'selling out one's country for personal gain'. If you attack China Minerals again," he tore the agreement in half, "don't blame me for being blind."

Mitsui stared at Xie Yun fiercely, and a sinister gleam flashed across his eyes for a moment, like a poisonous snake hiding in the darkness.

At this moment, the hypocritical smile on his face had disappeared without a trace, replaced by a hideous and distorted face.

He cursed in his heart: This person is so stubborn and so ungrateful!

He clenched his fists until his knuckles were tingling, and finally he could only snort coldly, grab his briefcase and turn around to leave. His leather shoes made a dull sound as they stepped on the floor tiles, as if he had a lot of anger in his heart and had no place to vent it.

After Mitsui disappeared completely outside the door, Adjutant Zhou closed the door and could not help but frowning. He said indignantly: "This Japanese has too big an appetite! It's like a lion's mouth is full of money."

Xie Yun stood in front of the window, looking at Mitsui's departing back, his eyes as dark as ink: "They have been eyeing the Nanjiao Coal Mine for a long time. Once the mine falls into their hands, I'm afraid it won't be as simple as mining. What they want is never just a few mines."

"Yes." Adjutant Zhou hesitated for a moment, "But... the refugee issue..."

Xie Yun rubbed his brows and said, "Let's go see what Representative Yu has to say first."
