Chapter 72 Birthday (1/2)

After dinner, Zheng Wanqing secretly glanced at Xie Yun and saw that he had put down his chopsticks and looked much more relaxed than when he first came.

Zheng Wanqing then winked at the outside. After a while, the maid came in with a blue and white porcelain bowl, which was covered with a carved silver lid and faintly emitted a wisp of hot steam.

"...longevity noodles." Her fingertips trembled slightly when she took the bowl, and the bottom of the bowl made a very light sound when it fell on the mahogany table.

Seeing Xie Yun's eyes move slightly, she hurriedly added: "I wanted to ask the kitchen to make it, but Uncle Zhou said that longevity noodles must be made by hand to show sincerity." She paused, and said in a softer voice, "But my cooking skills are not good, and I am afraid that it will be overcooked, so I dare to serve it to you after you are full."

She lowered her eyes and stared at the ruyi pattern on the lid of the bowl: "It took me three attempts to finally get it into shape. Just take a bite and it'll be fine. It's a good omen."

The silver lid was suddenly opened, and the steaming hot air blurred Xie Yun's outline. The noodles in the bowl were uneven in thickness, but the soup was clear, with two green cabbage hearts floating on them, and the edge of the poached egg still had some burn marks.

The corners of Xie Yun's lips curled up into a half-smile, but he was in no hurry to pick up his chopsticks. He picked up a noodle high.

"When I was a kid in Beijing," he said in a low, playful voice, "I heard the elders say that if the longevity noodles are broken, you will lose three years of your life."

Zheng Wanqing's fingertips trembled when she heard that, and she leaned over hurriedly to stop him: "Stop eating, I'll ask the kitchen to freshen it..." Before she finished her words, her fair wrist was firmly grasped by him.

Xie Yun put the noodles into his mouth, his slightly drooping eyelashes casting a shadow under his eyes.

The noodles were indeed not chewy enough, even a little soft, and the soup was a little bland. But he chewed it carefully, his Adam's apple rolling up and down as he swallowed.

The hall was so quiet that one could hear every sound he chewed, as if this was not just an ordinary bowl of noodles but some rare delicacy.

“…Do you want to eat?” Zheng Wanqing asked nervously.

Xie Yun's eyes flickered slightly, and he picked up a noodle with his jade chopsticks and handed it to her lips: "Madam, would you like to try it yourself?"

She subconsciously tried to hide, but his other hand grabbed the back of her neck. She had no choice but to take a small bite from his hand, the juice on the edge of her lips gleaming brightly under the light.

Xie Yun's eyes suddenly turned dark. He leaned down, pressed his warm lips against the corner of her lips, and gently swept the soup with the tip of his tongue.

The kiss carried the aroma of wheat and the sweetness of soup. It was fleeting, yet it made Zheng Wanqing freeze.

"Very delicious." Xie Yun chuckled, watching the blush spread from the tip of her ear to her collarbone.

Xie Yun's eyes darkened as he caught a glimpse of the maids lowering their heads and retreating.

He clasped Zheng Wanqing's slender waist with his hands and with a little force he brought her onto his legs.

"Ah," Zheng Wanqing screamed, and fell into his arms unexpectedly.

Before she could react, Xie Yunyi leaned over and pressed down, his hot lips accurately grasping her red lips.

His kiss was fierce and irresistible. The tip of his tongue easily pried open her slightly parted teeth and swept across every sensitive part of her mouth.

"Hmm..." Zheng Wanqing's breathing became disordered due to his kiss. She could only tightly grasp the front of Xie Yun's military uniform to steady herself.

Zheng Wanqing seemed to have all her strength drained away by Xie Yun. She felt limp all over and could only lean weakly in his arms.

Feeling her obedience, Xie Yun's kiss gradually became long and lingering.
