Chapter 23 The Tool-like Military Wife of the 1960s

"Mom, these three boys eat so much, I think I don't have enough breast milk!"

Just over a month later, Fang Yuan discovered that her breast milk supply was insufficient.

These three kids ate too much after they got a little older.

I don't know if it's because they absorbed too many good things while they were in my belly, but they all have a big appetite.

However, because they eat so much, the three children have grown to the normal weight for children in just one month.

"It's good that they can eat a lot, because they can grow up quickly. But the baby was so small when he was born, so he had to drink pure milk. I'll just have to make do with formula for the older and younger babies."

Fang's mother held her youngest child and said with heartache.

She was so young when the child was born that she was afraid she wouldn't be able to raise him. She paid the most attention to him and he was the child she loved the most.

In addition, the other two look exactly alike, just like his biological father.

This one doesn't look like her brothers; she looks more like her daughter, which naturally makes her stand out.

"Now that all the children look like normal babies, I can finally relax."

God knows how worried she was when she saw her three grandsons, who were clearly several sizes smaller than the others.

"Okay, Mom, when are you going back?" Fang Yuan nodded and asked.

She had no idea what it was like to work in this day and age.

But she knew that every position had its own vacancy, and if someone left, someone else could take their place.

“I’ve had someone cover your shift for a few months. I’ll take care of your child until the Lunar New Year before I go back home.”

Fang's mother was worried that her daughter would suffer, as the period before childbirth and postpartum recovery is especially important for a woman.

If you don't take good care of yourself during your postpartum period, you'll suffer from all sorts of illnesses when you get older.

"Thank you, Mom. You're so kind!" Fang Yuan smiled when she heard that she had brought it to her for the New Year.

The baby was born in early August, and will be almost half a year old by the Lunar New Year, at which point he won't need particularly meticulous care.

She was naturally happy that her mother had been able to help her take care of the baby for so long.

Facing this mother who looked exactly like her in her previous life, Fang Yuan naturally treated her as his own mother, without feeling any awkwardness.

"Thank you, Mom. Oh, by the way, I got some things here. I'll send them to Dad and the others."

Zhao Qingzhuo was also very happy that his mother-in-law was helping them so much.

Any good things I have, I send them to my father-in-law as soon as possible.

"Okay, but you should keep what you need for yourselves, and don't always try to send it to them," Fang's mother replied with a smile.

A child's filial piety is the happiest thing for parents.

Fang's mother stayed here until the twelfth lunar month.

Watching the children grow up day by day and become so adorable, she really couldn't bear to leave.

Unfortunately, it's almost Chinese New Year, so I have no choice but to go back.

She wasn't actually that tired these past few months; these three boys were easier to take care of than the twins her eldest daughter-in-law had.

She doesn't cry much. When she's hungry, needs to pee, or is uncomfortable, she'll just whimper a couple of times. Most of the time, the three brothers play by themselves, so she doesn't have to worry about them much.

Aside from the fact that the three boys started wanting to sit up four months later and often asked someone to help them sit up, which was a bit of a hassle, there really wasn't much else to worry about.

However, looking at the children's adorable appearance, although she was a little tired, she was mostly happy. She really adored these three little boys.

By the end of December, all three children were able to sit up steadily, which was better than the other children.

Zhao Qingzhuo brought back a lot of cotton, intending to make thick cotton-padded clothes for his family.

The remaining cotton was given to Fang's mother so she could take it back.

He took all his accumulated vacation days this year, planning to first visit his mother-in-law to offer an early New Year's greeting, and then take the children back to Beijing.

Mr. and Mrs. Zhao have called many times to ask about their grandson; he has no choice but to go back.

Early that morning, Fang Yuan got up and saw Zhao Qingzhuo and his mother packing things.

Fang Yuan turned around and went to the smallest bedroom, then came out carrying two snakeskin bags.

"Wife, what is this?"

Zhao Qingzhuo looked at the two large bags that Fang Yuan had taken out with some curiosity, as he had never seen these two bags before.

"These two bags are things I prepared in advance. One bag is for my mother to take back, and the other bag will be sent back to Beijing later."

Inside were dried seafood, as well as rice and flour from her space.

All of this was earned through her hard work. Not to mention anything else, just grinding flour took a lot of her energy.

For this reason, she even placed a stone mill in the space; she made all of these things herself, bit by bit.

"Let me see."

As she spoke, Fang's mother put down what she was holding and stepped forward to examine it: "When did you stock up on all this seafood?"

She hadn't seen any of this before; this girl is quite adept at hiding things, she didn't even notice.

"I stocked up on these before I gave birth, and there's another bag for my parents-in-law. Let's send them back when we get to the city!" Fang Yuan said proudly.

These were all stored in her personal space; she just found an excuse to take them out.

"So many! You're really amazing, wife!" Zhao Qingzhuo also expressed her admiration for Fang Yuan.

This wife is particularly good at bringing things into the house and is also an excellent cook. As the biggest beneficiary, he is very satisfied with his initial decision.

"It's just so-so. We were just thinking that we should eat something nice for the New Year." Fang Yuan looked at the man and his mother with a smug smile.

Fang's mother couldn't stand her smug attitude and interrupted her boasting directly:

"Alright, everything's almost ready, let's go!"

He then tied the bags up and looked at the several bags in front of him that he had brought back for her, feeling indescribably satisfied.

She didn't spoil her daughter and son-in-law for nothing.

Although they came with many bags and packages, they didn't bring back more than half of what they had brought with them.

Not to mention that her son-in-law sent her quite a few things during this period.

She has good food and lodging here, and the child is well-behaved. She's not here to take care of her grandson; she's here to enjoy life.

"Let's go, we're going to Grandma's house!" Fang Yuan picked up her eldest son, kissed him, and said happily.

The child giggled in her arms.

"You should hold the baby properly, or you could hold the little one instead, it would be easier to breastfeed."

Fang's mother never forgot her youngest child.

"Mom, they are triplets. Can't you be a little fair?" Fang Yuan asked helplessly.

They're all a few months old now, and they've all grown to the same size.

To be precise, because Xiao Bao has always been breastfed by her, he is actually a little heavier than his brothers.

As a mother, she can't show favoritism; she has to treat everyone equally.

"Fairness? Have you forgotten how big Xiaobao was when he was born? You weren't fair when he was in your belly, so he should be treated fairly after he's born, right?"

"Oh, my little darling, Grandma loves you the most. Grandma wants to hold you!"

As she spoke, Fang's mother immediately hugged Xiaobao into her arms. This little boy was the most well-behaved and cheerful since he was born, and she loved him from the bottom of her heart.

Of course, she loves her two children too, but she loves her youngest child the most.

"Mom~ Xiao Bao is heavier than Da Bao and Er Bao now, how is it that I don't love him? It's Mom who's biased."

Fang Yuan rolled her eyes at her mother, who was being hypocritical, while holding Da Bao.

Upon hearing this, Fang's mother raised an eyebrow, tightly hugged Xiaobao to her chest, and freed one hand to swat at Fang Yuan:

"Favoritism? I've always favored you too much since you were little, which has spoiled you into this awful state."

Seeing this, Fang Yuan quickly grabbed Da Bao and ran towards the door, but he missed.

After Zhao Qingzhuo put the luggage in the car, he returned and discovered his wife's lawsuit with his mother-in-law, but he didn't dare to get involved.

Turning around and going inside, Erbao on the bed was pitifully reaching out his hand towards the outside.

Zhao Qingzhu smiled and quickly stepped forward, carefully carrying him in her arms as they went out the door.

On the evening of the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month, the group finally arrived at the Fang family's residence in Sichuan.
