Then he instructed the maidservant beside him to fetch clothes from the carriage outside.
He then took the jade and headed towards the side room.

The side room isn't far from here; just walk over and turn a corner in the corridor.

Qin Sheng took the jade into the empty room.

Her gaze fell on the table, then looked at the closed window over there, a little puzzled. Why was the window closed so tightly on such a hot day?
When they arrived, the windows of the other rooms seemed to be open.
Qin Sheng frowned, then sniffed a few more times, catching a very faint fragrance in the air.

Qin Sheng then closed the window.
Instead of leaving immediately, she pulled Emerald around to the front and then hid behind a nearby artificial hill.
Qin Sheng wanted to see who was trying to get back at him.
Sure enough, someone arrived shortly afterward. It was a man with a somewhat sleazy appearance, who went straight to the last room with a clear purpose.
Jade was horrified and furious. "My lady, I'll go and call someone over."
"No rush." Qin Sheng looked around and said, "You stay here and don't move. I'll go in and deal with him."

She moved too fast; Jade couldn't stop her in time and watched helplessly as her mistress opened the window and climbed back in.

The maid covered her face and dared not speak again.
