Chapter 22 The Eagle Soars Too High, It's Too Exposed!

The goblin hero, with his bright blue eyes, carefully observed his surroundings. Then, he sniffed the air and instantly spotted Puck and Trisna in the bushes!

"Oh no, we're no match for him!" Parker tugged at Trisna's arm.

Using the power of a scout to fight a goblin hero is suicidal!

"It's too late." Trisna pulled her hand away from Parker's. "You go first, I'll cover you!"

"Chirp!!!" The goblin hero's feet were wrapped in magical runes, and he pounced in an instant.

But he seemed a little... anxious?

What's he in such a hurry for?

Before Parker could analyze the situation, a flash of silver light appeared, and a huge lance flew from afar, instantly piercing through the goblin hero!

The goblin hero's magic sword fell to the ground, and he struggled to stand up, but it was impossible.

Half of his body had been torn apart by the lance, and the immense force caused a three-meter-wide crack in the ground when he landed.

In the end, he died unwillingly.

Parker and Trisna held their breath, staring at the goblin hero who had seemingly died and come back to life, finding it hard to believe that such a being could have died so absurdly.

Parker was the first to rouse himself. He looked at the lance stuck in the ground beside him; it was entirely silver-white and looked quite heavy.

"Huff... huff—"

Heavy breathing came from afar. Trisna, like a cat with its fur standing on end, stared intently ahead, her eyes gleaming.

Parker also felt the oppressive atmosphere and the strong smell of blood in the air.

Under the moonlight, a knight rode up unhurriedly, her eyes gleaming with a terrifying red light.

The knight exuded a strong aura of dark creatures, and his armor was stained with blood.

“The Black Knight!” Trisna’s nerves tightened as she recalled the battle against the demons that her elders had talked about.

The Demon King's first choice for guards is the Black Knight!

In that battle, many dark elves perished in the deadly fight against the black knights. They were fearless in the face of death and were the elite of the elite!

"Tristina, do you have the courage to confront the Black Knight head-on?" Trisna recalled the question her great-grandfather had asked her.

She gazed at the figure ahead, at the blood on his armor left by countless people—so many lives!

The pungent, fishy smell made Parker vomit on the spot. A counterattack? A pipe dream!

Trisna faced a tremendous internal challenge: attack? Or... flee?

She trembled as she reached for the dagger at her waist, but she couldn't control her hand, and the dagger rolled into the grass.

Just as she reached for the dagger, she heard the horse's breathing!

She looked up and met the Black Knight's crimson eyes, who looked at her as if she were an ant.

The Black Knight held a sword in his hand, the sword wreathed in a pale, ethereal aura, like steam rising from boiling water.

However, the Black Knight only glanced at Trisna before riding up to his lance and pulling it out with a slight effort.

The Black Knight turned back, used his lance to lift the goblin hero's corpse, and returned to the forest.

No one knows what happened inside, but one can imagine it must have been a bloody battle.

After a long while, Trisna and Parker looked at each other and felt that the oppressive feeling had completely disappeared.

Looking at the bloodstains on the ground and the marks left by the lance, there was no doubt that what had just happened was not a dream.

"She let us go?" Parker still couldn't believe it.

Trisna nodded; she couldn't imagine that a Black Knight would let the creatures he saw go so easily.

“What a freak,” Parker said.

This reminded him of a little anecdote from aristocratic circles.

Baron Azer was in a fierce battle, and it was only through the intervention of a Black Knight that he was able to escape danger.

Although the nobles were more interested in hearing how Azer fought the Black Knight than in his escape, even though he was seriously injured, they still had something to brag about.

Location: Hed Mountains (temporary frontline position)

early morning.

A scout rode up from afar.

"Great news! Great news!"

"Count Ledo has decisively defeated the main goblin army; the enemy general has been captured!!!"

The mercenaries all perked up their ears, their faces beaming with smiles.

“See, I told you goblins aren’t that scary.” An old mercenary nudged his grandson: “Just you wait, when I get old, you’ll be the one taking on these jobs.”

"Great news! Great news!" The mercenary leaders gathered together.

"This way, we can add another layer to our defenses."

"Hey! Young man!" a captain called out to the messenger scout, "When will Count Ledo return?"

"Huh?" The scout was taken aback. "The Earl is already leading his heavy cavalry legion back to the city."

"Was the captured general also taken back?"

"Yes!" the scout nodded.

Parker handed his intelligence to the captain, who flipped through a few pages, looked at the young Parker, and said, "The upcoming battle is not suitable for scouts. Go to Orwick City."

“Okay.” Parker nodded, then recalled Goofy and let him land safely on his shoulder.

He packed his things and glanced at Trisna, who was also passing information to the other commanders.

As a dark elf, Trisna is always eye-catching wherever she goes.

Trisna noticed Parker looking at her, and she looked up and smiled back.

The two walked out of the mercenary tent together, and during the walk, she revealed the truth.

“There’s been some conflict within our group, and nobody wants to come all this way to deal with these trivial matters,” Trisna sighed.

"So, they decided to go back to the capital, and I... I stayed behind."

"And you?"

"The commander plans to transfer me back to Orwick City." Parker scratched his head, a little embarrassed, and said, "Maybe I'm just too weak?"

Trisna didn't seem to care much; she was teasing Parker with her finger... and the eagle on her shoulder flew high.

Gao Fei didn't seem too happy, but the way his fingers twirled among the feathers made it shiver with pleasure!

“Okay, then I’ll go to Orwick City with you!” Trisna said.

“Okay!” Parker couldn’t refuse, of course.

Moreover, although they hadn't known each other for very long, Parker felt that he might be in love.

By the way, are Dark Elves allowed to have partners with humans?

Or perhaps... Trisna already has a partner!?

As for the Dark Elves... is polyandry allowed?

“?” Trisna silently typed a question mark, looking at Parker with a puzzled expression.

"Ahem, let's go!" Parker patted Goofy and took the lead.

"Chirp!" Gao Fei chirped, seemingly mocking Parker's blushing face.

Trisna, standing behind her, smiled but didn't say anything.

Next stop! Orwick City!
