A moment later, the Duke arrived with his troops, only to find his panicked daughter crying while holding Liz.
Liz didn't know what had happened, but sensing that the most familiar aura was not around, she hugged the Luo Fan clone in her arms with a dejected look on her face.
Xiaoxue, on the other hand, was much calmer. At Luo Fan's prompting, she pointed in a certain direction and even used snowflakes to form the words "over there" in the air.
"It really is those persistent ghosts! Chase them!" The Duke casually pulled Xiaoxue onto his mount, leaving the steward to handle things here, and sped off in that direction.
The butler sighed, and after sending out several magical communications, he began to check the nearby villagers.
Not long after, a victim of the Death Curse was discovered; the entire body was burned, but it was confirmed to be a farmer from the vicinity.
"Search all the houses, and remember to use the Bright Light spell. Those rats like to hide in the shadows; once you find them, kill them without mercy!"
After a long while, Daisy finally recovered from her earlier panic and led Liz back to the castle.
As they continued their pursuit, the Duke discovered that the pursuing force had split into several groups.
"Sir, there's more than one of them; several dark figures have appeared behind them."
Without stopping, the Duke led the main force in relentless pursuit in the direction Little Snow had indicated, their speed more than twice that of ordinary snow wolves.
"Split up and pursue them separately. If you encounter them, take them down immediately. Leave no survivors!"
The icy and snowy environment is perfect for snow wolves to thrive.
"Damn it, those guys are always haunting us!" Looking at the dense snow forest ahead, the man in black charged straight in.
As soon as Luo Fan entered the shadow of the Ghost Wolf, he found his body was imprisoned. So he frantically created clones, and with great difficulty managed to squeeze some of them out and send them into Ai Li's shadow.
Meanwhile, the main body begins to erode the dark magic power in the imprisoning spell.
"This slime is so troublesome!" Noticing the change in his spell, the man in black had to focus on reinforcing the magic. He then decisively used a large shadow leap, taking Airi with him into the shadows.
He leaped out of another shadow, his position shifting considerably. Just as he was feeling smug, he suddenly realized that the pursuing group had also changed direction and was rushing straight towards him.
"Damn, how did they find her? Could this little girl have some kind of location magic?" After sensing for a moment, the man in black found nothing.
The tracking team was getting closer and closer, and he could even sense a strong aura of ice elements.
“That slime is already imprisoned, so that little girl is useless.” After thinking for a moment, the man in black threw Ellie onto the snow and leaped into the shadows again.
The thought of killing the girl lingered in his mind for a moment before disappearing; their organization couldn't withstand her mother's wrath.
But that doesn't mean you can't do something else, even if it might be a bit troublesome.
After rescuing Ellie, the Duke led a few men to continue the pursuit, while the rest escorted Ellie back.
"Damn it, why are they still chasing us? When will this end?!" The man in black was furious and immediately hid in the shadows.
Then, several Bright Light spells were cast, forcing him out.
"Why, how did you know my location!" The man in black held a magic wand, his shadow spreading outwards, and the ghost wolf beside him jumped into it.
"So you're a high-level mage after all. You must have used your pet's abilities to make that leap!" The Duke chuckled, not answering his question, but just continuing to wave his staff.
"Ice Prison!"
The others coordinated their spells and attacks, directly forcing the ghost wolf out, while the man in black's body continued to freeze.
"Haha, you think I'd just surrender?" Black blood gushed from his eyes, revealing a sinister smile, before he stopped breathing.
"Arrest you? You're dreaming!" The Duke knew these guys from the Temple of Gods and Demons very well, so he simply froze the corpse and put it into his ring.
The ghost wolf was instantly immobilized by the ice spikes and became Luo Fan's meal. This level 38 dark-elemental magical beast was several times stronger than the one from before.
The Duke was used to seeing the slime emerge from the shadows. After finishing, he collected the ghost wolf's corpse and turned back.
Inside the castle, Ellie was still unconscious.
"My lord, Miss Ellie has been cursed with death. It's probably because the caster is dead, and the curse is now activating." The butler told the Duke what he had discovered when he saw him return.
"Damn, no wonder that guy laughed at the end! What do we do!" Luo Fan withdrew his clone from Ai Li and found that Ai Li's complexion had not improved significantly.
Has the therapist seen him?
"Well, they don't have an effective way either; they can only stop the spread of the curse. To cure it, they'll have to find someone who can break the curse."
Daisy, tears welling in her eyes, held Ellie's hand, unsure what to do. Liz crouched on the other side, diligently casting healing spells, trying to awaken her sister.
"What about those spies? Are any of them skilled at breaking curses?"
"I don't know either," the butler said, lowering his head.
"I'll go ask. There should be a chance. Those people are very familiar with the Death Curse; they'll definitely have a cure," the Duke said reassuringly, before returning to his office with his butler.
"Tell me, who can break the curse?"
"Only that woman in Sacred Heart City can do it; she is skilled in light magic."
"Sigh, I really don't want to look for her!" The Duke sighed, glanced at his wife beside him, and still used the communication magic.
"Isn't this the Duke with a heart of ice? What brings you to my humble abode? Aren't you afraid your wife will retaliate?"
"I need your help! I want you to come to the castle and save a child who is under a death curse."
"The Death Curse? Your child? I can indeed cure it, but why should I help you?"
“That child is Lilith’s daughter. If she dies, you know the consequences.”
"What does that have to do with me? Even if the entire Holy Heart City is buried with me, it has nothing to do with me."
"What do you want? If you still don't want to, I'll go to the Holy Capital and find someone else."
"Go to the Holy Capital? Are you kidding me? That child shouldn't have to wait that long!"
“Some people from the Holy City are coming; they know how to contain it.”
After a moment of silence, the other party stated their conditions.
"I can come over, but I'd like to speak with you alone for a few minutes. That woman is right next to you right now."
"Yes, then I'll wait for you." After saying that, the Duke looked at his wife standing beside him and breathed a sigh of relief.
The butler hurriedly went out.
“You don’t need to worry about me too much. I already agreed to let you marry her.” The Duchess walked over and gently massaged his shoulders.
"That woman is too scheming. You, Madam, are the best!"
"So what are you going to do?"
"The spies are on their way. If we can really stabilize the situation, I'll go to the capital. It's been a long time since I've seen the second brother. I wonder how he's doing now."
With Liz's help, Ellie's condition is relatively stable, but she is unable to communicate with Lofan telepathically.
