"Phew, thankfully the clone here isn't affected." Luo Fan breathed a sigh of relief as he returned to his ice-blue clone.
Having consumed so much blood this time, it'll probably be dormant for a long time after digestion. Luckily, I have a backup.
"Brother Fan! You're back?" Xiaoxue started babbling again.
The monsters on the third floor were too weak and didn't interest her at all.
"Yes, we've run into a bit of trouble. The body over there has been drugged with sleeping powder, and we don't know when it will wake up."
"Do you need me to come over?"
"It's dangerous to go over to the fifth floor now! The smoke hasn't dissipated yet. What's the situation here?"
"How boring. There are hardly any monsters. Goblins are too weak. It's more fun following you."
"No, I don't want another monster riot!"
After clearing out the nearby monsters, Ellie walked over; she had also heard Luo Fan's voice earlier.
"So what are you planning to do? We're about to leave. I've killed more than a dozen magical beasts this time, and I feel like that's enough."
"How about Xiaoxue and I take Huoyu down? We should be able to burn away the smoke with fire." Luo Fan didn't want to spend the night down there, fearing something might happen. He'd heard that nighttime in the dungeon was when most of the magical beasts were hunting.
"To bring these guards with you?"
"Bringing too few people is still too few. It would be best if the Duke could come over. By the way, the Duke is at home. I can ask him to send someone over. He's definitely interested in the remnants of the Temple of Gods and Demons." Luo Fan thought of the clone at home with Lis, but since they were so far apart, it would take some time to sense them.
About fifteen minutes later, Liz appeared in the Duke's office.
"Your Grace, Daisy and the others have discovered a place where ghost bats are being bred. Please take them to the third level of the Ice Shadow Dungeon. It would be best if you could bring Guild Master Joseph along."
"Huh! Are you sure?"
"Yes, Luo Fan just told me that his clone is still over there." Liz hugged Luo Fan nervously and said cautiously.
After that incident involving the Heart-to-Heart Curse, the Duke learned that Riesle could communicate telepathically with slimes.
"Okay, I'll set off with my men right away. Just tell Ellie and the others to wait."
"Um."
Time passed second by second. Joseph, having learned the news, arrived at the Ice Shadow Dungeon with his core members and the Duke, where he met the group of Ellie and the others who had gathered together.
Then, following Xiaoxue's guidance, the group fought their way to the fifth floor.
Avoiding the dangerous mud, the Duke and his entourage finally arrived at the location of the giant rock. This time, only Xiaoxue carried Luo Fan and Huo Yu; the others returned to the ground.
"Is this it?" The Duke looked at the large rock in front of him, somewhat incredulous. Joseph, however, sent men to investigate, and they quickly located the corresponding mechanism.
"There's sleeping gas inside." Seeing the words Xiaoxue wrote, everyone became more vigilant and opened the stone.
A strong stench of blood wafted over, but with the help of several fire and wind mages, the odor was eliminated.
"So many skeletons, and so many ghost bat corpses? What exactly happened before?!" Everyone gasped in shock.
With so many ghost bats gathered together, they could easily wipe out a small town. Their abnormal sonic waves and control effects are impossible to defend against.
A moment later, under the guidance of the Duke and Joseph, they began to clean up the battlefield. Xiaoxue, meanwhile, led Luo Fan to the main body, which had fallen into a deep sleep.
After swallowing the main body directly, Luo Fan breathed a sigh of relief and began to check the contents of the ring.
"Lots of magic scrolls, mostly wind-based. A pile of gold coins, only a hundred or so. I didn't expect to be this poor. Contact information? Useless."
As Luo Fan searched and analyzed the uses, he discovered many dark crystal cores, a token, and various daily necessities, including food and clothing.
Finally, he found some more letters, but he was too lazy to analyze them. He stuffed all the letters, which involved the identities of the recipients, into a magic bag he had found earlier, and then had Xiaoxue give it to the Duke.
"President, this should be where they raise ghost bats. These two people seem to have been killed with a knife. Could someone else have been here?" the person in charge of the inventory asked curiously.
"I don't know. If they did, they probably slipped away. Let's see if there are any other clues."
"Yes, the murderer must be in a panic. There are still breeding and trading records here."
The Duke was analyzing something while holding a bell. A moment later, Xiaoxue came over, handed him a magic bag, and snatched the bell away.
"You little rascal!" He casually opened the magic bag and soon pulled out the token.
"This is the Divine Demon Token!" After searching through it again, they found the letters and lists, and even some hidden strongholds.
"Xiaoxue, did Luo Fan find this too?"
Xiaoxue nodded and unconsciously shook the bell in her hand. The clear, melodious sound echoed through the cave, even invigorating the other adventurers.
“Duke Simmons, is that the sound of the Soul-Suppressing Bell?” Joseph walked over, saw the token in his hand, and his mouth dropped open.
"Well, if Xiaoxue thinks it's fun, let's give it to her. It won't affect us. But we can take a closer look at this sign and the list of locations inside."
Joseph leaned closer to take a look, surprised by the unexpectedly large gain. He was already held responsible for the incident in the dungeon they managed, but now he could redeem himself.
"We'll go talk to the city lord later. If the capital finds out, it'll be another great achievement for us."
"Hmm, no problem. Have someone dispose of these corpses. The crystal cores and blood inside have already been taken by a certain little guy." The Duke nodded, this trip was indeed worthwhile.
Not long after, Ellie and the others returned to the Duke's mansion under the escort of the guards.
Near the Ice Shadow Dungeon, the large-scale guild mobilization and the involvement of the city's law enforcement team attracted a large crowd of onlookers.
"Have you heard? The guild leader and the duke killed hundreds of ghost bats together. I just saw them burning the corpses. I heard they were raised by the Temple of Gods and Demons. Only those bastards would raise such magical beasts."
"Hmm, no wonder there are ghost bats here. They're being raised. Those people deserve to die."
"Yes, we owe it all to the Chairman this time. I heard they investigated for a long time before finally deciding to close in, and even killed those fugitives hiding inside."
Upon hearing this news, several inconspicuous figures in the crowd quietly retreated and eventually disappeared at the end of the road.
That evening, Sacred Heart City launched another attack, destroying several strongholds in one fell swoop. One of them was even located underground in a small chapel in the city, and many unsuspecting participants were arrested.
After returning to the Duke's mansion, Luo Fan gathered his other clones, began to integrate the blood he had absorbed, and then fell asleep once again.
Fortunately, there was one clone who was not affected by the drug.
"Ellie, I killed several goblins myself this time. Here, take these dark magic cores." Daisy was very happy to have completed the dungeon trial once again.
"Thank you, Daisy. Here, these ice-type spells are for you. I feel there are still some issues with the speed and combination of spells this time. Let's try ice and earth elemental dungeons together next time."
"Yeah. I also feel that learning through practical experience is faster."
"Sigh, I don't need any more dark magic cores for now. After consuming this batch of crystal cores, plus the blessing from that blood, I should have a chance to level up to 27. I still can't comprehend any magic; I guess I'm just immune to it." Luo Fan sighed. He also wanted a ranged attack skill.
If all else fails, use the clones as bullets to shoot them out, so it would be best to forge a bow that you can use yourself.
Anyway, learning more skills is never a bad thing. Even if I go out to rob people in the future, at least I'll look presentable.
