"Anything else?" Ellie's tone turned cold.
Claire calmed down immediately, sensing the deep distance between them.
"Ellie, what I was saying just now was all nonsense. That's not the truth. According to the mission contract, you have to help me, right?" Realizing that Ellie might change her mind, he quickly tried to salvage the situation.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of it. I hope you're all doing well."
"Really? Why don't you come back, Ellie?" Claire quickly chimed in, excitedly surprised that her daughter's attitude had changed once she learned the truth.
"I will ask my mother to come back then, and she will judge you all by herself."
In an instant, Luo Fan saw his expression change drastically, and he sat down on the ground, staring at his daughter with a look of horror.
"No, you can't do this! We made a promise, she won't come back. Ellie, don't scare me!"
"No, she's still inside the Demon Sealing Tower. She can't get out, and she never will!"
Seeing the somewhat bewildered Marquis Claire, Ellie sighed and headed straight for the camp.
Monsters are already stirring on the lake.
After Ellie returned, the mercenary group finally sprang into action. To prevent communication, Ellie had used a sound-blocking scroll, since the information they needed to exchange was all about her mother.
Seeing that her sister's eyes were a little red, Liz rushed into her arms and hugged her tightly.
"Ellie, are you alright?" Daisy asked worriedly. She didn't know what had just happened, only that the marquis had sat on the ground and seemed somewhat deranged.
"I'm fine. I've figured out a few things. Let's go to the lake together. I've noticed some changes there."
"Um!"
The lake surface became completely agitated after Liss cast her purification spell.
Before long, many mud-like creatures rushed up against the light. Countless ice spikes pierced through them, but caused no damage and were eventually blocked by the ice wall.
"What kind of magical beast is this? I've never seen it before!" Daisy asked curiously.
“I don’t know either.” Ellie shook her head. This thing was much uglier than a slime.
Where the mud monster crawled, it corroded the ground, leaving a swollen mark, and a putrid stench wafted from it. Ice, earth, and fire magic had no effect, and physical attacks couldn't cause any damage either.
"The dark element on this thing is so strange, it seems to have mutated!" Luo Fan said, reaching out his tentacle to poke inside and quickly finding its magic core, pulling out the peanut-sized magic core.
Then, the mud monster slowly lay down and turned into a puddle of mud.
Using the same trick again, Luo Fan eliminated many of the mud monsters that had already climbed the ice wall.
Luo Fan took one of the black crystal cores, tasted it, and quickly digested it. This thing seemed to be somewhat related to the inscription on his magic core.
After tasting several more, Luo Fan finally confirmed that it was indeed related to the inscription on his body. After consuming these magic cores, the inscription underwent a slight change.
"They were all left behind by that old hag. Could there be some connection?"
"Luo Fan, you are not allowed to insult my mother."
"Okay, okay, I'll call her my mother-in-law from now on, is that alright?" His train of thought was interrupted, but Luo Fan had developed a strong interest in the lake.
"You bastard, you're always trying to take advantage of me!"
"Let the others deal with the other monsters on the shore; I'll handle the ones in the lake."
"Brother Fan, I'll go with you."
"Xue'er, be good, you can't go down. The lake water is poisonous, but it won't affect me much."
"Alright, then I'm going to go bully other magical beasts."
"Um."
With that, Luo Fan manipulated his clone and jumped directly into the lake.
"Sure enough, there was something mixed in with these dark elements. The triggering condition was probably that high-level magic core from back then." After analyzing it, Luo Fan suddenly sensed his mother-in-law's deep malice.
It turns out her revenge hasn't stopped. Once the entire fiefdom is eroded, the Claire family will likely have no choice but to leave. She's probably been holding back until now, probably out of consideration for Ellie.
Fortunately, Ellie is a good girl and hasn't gone astray!
But would it be inappropriate for me to disrupt my mother-in-law's arrangements like this?
Luo Fan continued deeper, swimming in the direction guided by the unseen force. He plunged into the mud, going further and further, until finally, at the bottom of the lake, he discovered a hidden magic circle.
Inside was a dark crystal core, which looked very similar to the one that Grandma Daisy had provided, except that much of it had dissolved.
It was indeed her mother-in-law's scheme; there must be some connection between the two crystals. At the time, Ellie activated not one, but two—at least two.
As soon as the crystal entered his stomach, the crystal core melted even faster. Before Luo Fan could react, the thing turned into foam.
At the same time, a familiar phantom appeared directly inside Luo Fan's body.
"Little slime, it's been a long time!"
"Oh my god, Mother-in-law, hello!"
"Hehe, I still prefer your unruly self. You've changed how you address me, could it be that you've already won over my Ellie?"
"No, not yet. It's just that I really like her, can you tell me how to transform into human form?"
"You ruined my plans, and you still have the nerve to ask me for help?" The tone suddenly changed.
"It was all your daughter's request. She said she'd deal with those people when you came back. I never expected you to have made these arrangements!" Luo Fan said, his voice trembling slightly as he tried to appease her.
"Does Ellie already know about that?"
"Yes, the Marquis said it himself. I also found a body, which I guess should be Ellie's grandfather."
After a moment of silence, Luo Fan heard a faint sigh.
"How about I take care of this family for you myself? Ellie doesn't agree with me doing that, what do you think?"
"Even my precious daughter disagrees, how dare you do it yourself?"
Luo Fan was speechless, unsure how to respond.
"Never mind, how is Ellie doing now? I never thought that coward would actually find Ellie and bring her back."
Luo Fan gave a brief explanation, and the figure remained silent for a while before finally bursting into laughter. The laughter was so intense that the figure became somewhat unsteady.
Luo Fan's small body trembled, fearing that the phantom might strike him; he believed the other party possessed such strength.
"Alright, sometimes being alive isn't necessarily a good thing. And here's another piece of news: I secretly crippled that spineless coward after Ellie was born. He probably doesn't know yet." Seemingly thinking of something amusing, she added.
"Wow! Could it be Xiu Qi and Xiu Pi? No wonder his elder brother lost his title but didn't cause any trouble. So that's why."
"Hehe, little guy, you really suit my taste, you understand things so quickly."
"Hehe, that's called great minds think alike. By the way, that so-called dual cultivation theory, wasn't it you who came up with it? What exactly happened back then?"
"Of course not, it was found in a secret realm. I tried it once, and it ended up bringing Ellie out. That theory is just nonsense. As a result, the old guy saw the book and actually conspired with others to plot against me." Lilith sneered.
"Heh, do you think I'm that easy to bully? If it weren't for Ellie, I would have killed them all long ago. That girl was still young back then, and I couldn't stay with her, so I spared a few seedlings."
Luo Fan didn't want to talk. This woman was indeed not someone to mess with. The difficulties that the Claire family had faced in recent years were probably related to her.
"By the way, you probably want to become a male human, right? I don't want my daughter to marry someone like you."
"Mmm!" Luo Fan immediately became interested and told me about what he had discovered earlier.
“Then the conditions are even more stringent. After all, your dark attribute is yin, so it would be easier if you became a girl,” Lilith chuckled, completely unconcerned about his discovery.
"Ah, how could this happen!" Luo Fan couldn't hold back any longer. He was extremely unwilling to be sisters with those girls.
What other conditions are required?
"The foundation of the Five Elements is the five basic attributes that share the same origin. To put it simply, you need five attribute clones as the foundation of the human body. Then, add an extremely yang element, and that should be about right."
"It would be really interesting if you could actually become a normal man. No, I need to study this carefully later."
"Of course, it's best to reach level 100, that will increase the chances," Lilith added as she thought, her tone sounding somewhat unreliable.
"Are there any successful examples?"
"Yes, you've heard of magical beasts like the Snow Woman, the Water Fairy, and the Angel, right? Their ancestors probably used the things I recorded to transform into gods and even preserved their offspring, though not born from their wombs!"
"Huh?! So you wrote that book?" Luo Fan instantly realized. No wonder she dared to assert that without her help, he would not be able to take human form.
"Otherwise what? Isn't that amazing? I've collected this book in many school libraries, hoping to spread this idea and find more like-minded people."
"Heh, I feel like there's no hope at all."
"Don't give up, little slime! I have a lot of ideas that I can try on you. Maybe it will actually work?"
Luo Fan suddenly sensed a deep malice!
