Chapter 7 The Ambition to Take Form

The first match ended abruptly due to this unexpected incident. However, the nickname "White-Butt Yasuo" began to spread throughout the school.

Yasuo had changed into a new outfit, but his naked appearance earlier was still seen by many people.

"Ugh~, you wretched Airi, and that slime too, you just wait, ouch!"

Shivering, Yasuo sneaked out of the school gate. Ugh, I'm so embarrassed!

On the first floor of the library, Ellie was looking for books about dragons, while Daisy next to her couldn't help but giggle incessantly.

"Haha~, that was so much fun, Ellie. Did you see that just now? That bastard Yasuo was running around naked, and he didn't even recall his pet!"

Ellie blushed, unsure how to respond, but her mood had definitely improved. Back in elementary school, she and Yasuo had never gotten along; that guy always liked to cause her trouble.

She knew that her pet probably didn't have any good ideas.

"The last recorded appearance of a dragon was probably more than 100 years ago!" Looking at the few records in the history of magic, Ellie was a little confused.

According to the book, dragons are often symbols of disaster. Several times, the destruction of human empires was initially marked by the presence of dragons; their destructive power was truly immense, and humans were nothing more than ants in their presence.

In the most recent record, humanity mobilized several holy mages and several martial saints, and only after paying a heavy price did they manage to kill a fire dragon.

In the end, the entire battlefield was shattered, and a dangerous place known as the Flame Desert was formed.

"So, what Luo Fan saw was actually a dragon?"

Suddenly, Luo Fan shouted, interrupting her thoughts.

"Ellie, Ellie, please teach us to read!"

Seeing the slime idly flipping through books on the table, Ellie finally realized what was going on. When did her pet become so ambitious?

Hehe, knowledge is power! Once I have power, this little vixen won't be able to bully me anymore!

A familiar voice came from behind her. Ellie touched her head, realizing she shouldn't have too much hope for him.

"By the way, can pets transform into human form? Xue'er, were you born looking like this?"

"Yes, Brother Fan, I don't know how to transform into human form either," Little Snow Maiden replied weakly.

"It's okay, maybe these books will have it recorded. I also want to become a cute little person like you."

"But Brother Fan is cute too!"

The little guy blinked his eyes and gently poked his body with his tiny fingers.

Luo Fan didn't know how to answer, so he could only play dead. He really wanted to become human. It didn't matter when he was wandering in the wilderness, but now that he was in the human world, he couldn't stay like this forever.

He really wanted to hug the cute girl next to him! Yes, he definitely didn't have any other ulterior motives.

"Daisy, can we teach Xue to read?" Looking at her pet's expression, Ellie really didn't want to teach him to read just like that; she felt it was too embarrassing.

"Okay, I hope I can communicate with her in the future." Looking at her pet's confused state, Daisy felt that the success rate was not high.

"Give it a try. If it really works, Xiaoxue will definitely become even more amazing."

"Uh-huh."

Indeed, in Daisy's mind, the more intelligent a magical pet is, the stronger its spiritual sense tends to be, and the higher its potential for growth.

She stopped paying attention to the so-called dragon information; the Monster Forest was still too far away. Besides, even if it did appear, it wouldn't be something she could handle.

Thinking about her meager savings, Ellie decided to find a job after school to make ends meet. Previously, the Claire family would at least offer some handouts to maintain their so-called family reputation, but from now on, she would have to rely on herself.

Now, besides her and her sister, an old nanny also lives in her house. She is the cook her mother brought from the family, and she has always been by her side, helping to take care of her poor younger sister.

"Sigh, without a magic core, how can I nurture this guy! If only we could enter the dungeon." Ellie thought to herself, but entering the dungeon required at least a level 6 novice mage, which she was still far from achieving. Besides, her priority was supporting her family and finding a way to heal her sister's eyes.

Fortunately, because of her exceptional talent, the academy waived her tuition fees; otherwise, she would have had to drop out.

"Ellie, what's wrong?" Daisy nudged her arm as she looked lost in thought.

"Um, I'm fine. I was just thinking there probably aren't any children's books here!"

“That’s true. This isn’t a primary magic and martial arts school. I’ll bring some over later.”

"Hmm. By the way, my pet ate one of your water-type magic crystals just now. I'll pay you back when I have more money." Suddenly remembering how Luo Fan had tricked the little girl, Ai Li felt a little embarrassed.

"It's alright. Xiaoxue doesn't like it anyway, so there's no use for me keeping it. She's already eaten it. Besides, she really likes your Xiaoshi, and Xiaoshi has helped a lot."

"Hmph, please call me Brother Fan, I won't call you Little Shi! It sounds awful!" a creature complained loudly.

“Okay, Daisy, we’ll talk about it later! By the way, my pet’s name is Luo Fan, calling him Little Shi still feels a bit strange.” After accepting her pet’s suggestion, Ellie said this.

"Okay, hehe, then let's call it Xiao Luo from now on!" Daisy was still very happy to see her two pets pretending to read a book.

The first half of the year at Sacred Heart Magic Academy is quite demanding, covering a wide range of subjects, including the history of magic, elementary potion-making, elementary monster science, various elementary spells, elementary alchemy, elementary magic circles, and practical combat lessons. The second half of the year will have a more focused curriculum, allowing students to choose their preferred subjects for intensive training.

Therefore, Ellie doesn't have much time to work now; besides after school, she can only work on weekends.

After school, she went to the office and met Ms. Monsa.

For college students to find a suitable job, they need the teacher's approval and preferably a letter of recommendation; otherwise, they won't be easily accepted, especially magicians.

"I already know about your situation. I really didn't expect you to actually defeat Yasuo." Looking at her favorite student, Teacher Monsa was very pleased, especially after the match.

So slimes can be used like this? How did she train it? Although her quality and level are low, which will slow down her growth, it's better than nothing.

"Let me have a quick talk with the principal and see if there's a suitable job for you, since you're already quite busy with your studies. Just wait for my reply."

"Okay, thank you, Ms. Monsa!" Ellie bowed and then left the office.

"What a good child, it's just that his pet is too bad."

Looking at the gently closed door, Ms. Monsa sighed and continued with her work.

"You want to work to earn money?" Looking at his master, Luo Fan finally understood why she had asked the teacher.

"Well, I'm already fifteen and an adult. I can't let Grandma Daisy go out to work!"

"Okay. Just let me know if there's anything I can help you with!"

"You just need to take good care of Liz for me."

"no problem."

"Let's go back then, and I'll teach you to read when we get back!"

"Okay, thank you, Master!"

Hehe, I'm one step closer to gaining power!

In the school principal's office, Brian was meeting with Monsa and Nash. He already knew what had happened that day and was preparing to briefly discuss their opinions on the slime and Ellie's situation.

He knew that slimes could split and reproduce, but he had never heard of them being able to combine after splitting.

“Headmaster, I suspect that slime has more than one magic core. During the battle today, I noticed many small black dots around its body, which are probably all small magic cores,” Nasi said, offering his guess.

What do you think, Monsa?

"When I summoned her last week, the magic circle absorbed most of Ellie's magic power. I thought a very powerful monster would appear."

"So it's not Airi's problem, it's that slime's problem?"

Monsa and Nasi exchanged a glance and nodded simultaneously.

"It got along very well with Daisy, that snow woman, from their very first meeting, and snow women are very shy around strangers!" Monsa added.

"Alright, it seems Ellie has likely contracted a treasure. You can continue with your normal teaching from now on. If it really has that many small magic cores, it'll be difficult for it to level up later! As for Ellie finding a job, you can arrange that for her." Brian smiled and ended the topic for the day.

"Yes, Principal!"
