Chapter 131 The Hearts of Parents Are Full of Pity
Consort Gu rose and went out to greet her.
Yan Cang took Chu Yunjin's hand and walked out to pay their respects.
"What's going on?" Emperor Zhaode stepped into the palace, frowning as he looked around. "I could hear the commotion from far away."
Consort Gu lowered her head and said, "Your Majesty, Consort Shu came in a huff, begging Yan Cang to spare Prince Jin. She also said that Princess Yan was responsible for Prince Jin's predicament. I really don't know what to do."

Emperor Zhaode's face turned cold: "A prince who breaks the law is subject to the same punishment as a commoner. Just because he is my son, does that give him the right to treason? Does he even respect me as his father? He's willing to do anything for his own selfish gain. I have no son like that!"
Having said that, he shouted, "Drag her out of here!"
The palace servants dared not delay any longer and forcibly dragged Consort Shu out.
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty!"
Emperor Zhaode's anger had not subsided: "Not one of them is easy to deal with."
Consort Gu handed him a cup of tea: "Your Majesty, please calm down."
Yan Cang and Chu Yunjin stood to the side, silent.
When Emperor Zhaode saw the food laid out on the table, he walked over and sat down, ordering the palace servants to add a pair of chopsticks.
"You two..." Emperor Zhaode looked at Yan Cang and Chu Yunjin, his expression not very good. "After you've paid your respects, go back early. You're pregnant, so don't run around everywhere. Stay home and take good care of your pregnancy."

Consort Gu thought for a moment and then instructed, "Granny Guo, pick out some youthful jewelry and headwear from my private treasury, and also take the ginseng I treasured. Send them all to Princess Yan so she can take good care of herself."
"Yes," Granny Guo replied.
Emperor Zhaode listened quietly, then suddenly spoke: "Imperial Consort, I wish to pass the throne to Yan Cang."
Consort Gu was startled: "Your Majesty?"
"I also want to enjoy a few days of peace and quiet." Emperor Zhaode frowned. "Yan Cang has absolute control over military power, and now is the perfect time for him to ascend the throne."
Consort Gu remained silent.
