Chapter 44 A Belated Wedding Night
Chu Yunjin spent the whole afternoon with Ade, Zhaixing, and Laoyue.
The curtains in the new room were all changed to red, and the character "囍" (double happiness) was pasted on the carved windows, the headboard, and the walls. On the table in the inner room were a red wine pot, two golden wine cups, and an unlit red candle.
After everything was arranged, Chu Yunjin was covered in sweat and naturally wanted to take a petal bath. The bath contained fresh petals that the maids Laoyue had just picked.
As Chu Yunjin took off her clothes and stepped into the bath, with Ade and Zhaixing attending to her attentively, she couldn't help but sigh inwardly once again at the luxurious lifestyle of the ancient nobility.
In the 21st century, she was just an ordinary, unambitious person who had never experienced the extravagant life of the wealthy in high society. Unexpectedly, reading a novel gave her the opportunity to travel to ancient times, enjoy the ultimate wealth that only the elite could enjoy, and even sleep with a husband she never dared to dream of.
Chu Yunjin suddenly wondered, what if one day she woke up and all of this suddenly disappeared? What if one day she woke up and found out that she had just had a fantasy dream?
Chu Yunjin raised her hand and pinched her face, hissing in pain.
"Your Highness, what are you doing?" Adele was startled when she saw her action. "Why are you pinching your own face for no reason?"
Chu Yunjin turned around and leaned against the edge of the bathtub, saying somewhat dejectedly, "I don't know what's wrong with me lately, but I always have this unreal feeling, like I'm in a dream."
Zhaixing was surprised and didn't understand what she meant.
Adele clearly didn't understand either. She exchanged a glance with Zhaixing, and both of them felt that the princess was acting strangely.
“Adele, do you think it’s possible…” Chu Yunjin looked at her hesitantly, a hint of confusion in her eyes, “Is it possible that we’re all living in a dream, not a real life? That I’m fake, Yan Cang is fake, and you’re all fake…”
"Your Highness." Zhaixing raised her hand to cover her mouth, then realized her rudeness and quickly withdrew her hand. "Your Highness must not have rested well these past two days."
"Do you think I'm talking nonsense?" Chu Yunjin frowned. "I'm serious, I'm not joking with you guys."
“Look at how much I used to hate Yan Cang, always arguing and causing trouble, but these past two days I’ve suddenly fallen for him.” Chu Yunjin sighed. “If all of this is true, why did I suddenly change so drastically? Can a person’s thoughts really change overnight?”
Adele and Stargazer didn't know how to answer.
Because the princess used to be quite demanding, her change in the past few days was too sudden. Even they themselves felt it was unreasonable. How could they comfort the princess and make her believe that all of this was justified?
Chu Yunjin suddenly felt a little annoyed.
She's so stupid.
When Yan Jinyue asked her this morning if she had been switched at birth, she should have answered in this way: tell her about this sudden sense of confusion and unreality. That way, Yan Jinyue might have thought she was talking nonsense and argued with her about whether reality was reality or a dream, and then she wouldn't have suspected that she had been switched at birth.
It's just that she was too nervous; she felt guilty after being asked that question and actually ran away in a panic.
That's good now.
Yan Jinyue will definitely suspect that she is not the Chu Yunjin of the past.
Sigh, how melancholy.
When Yan Cang returned to Shuangxue Courtyard, it was already dark. He didn't see Chu Yunjin when he entered the house, but he saw that the bedroom was decorated with festive decorations, with "囍" characters posted everywhere.
Yan Cang walked to the table, looked at the red candles and wine cups on it, and remained silent for a moment. However, his expression softened visibly, and a smile appeared on his lips.
He turned and asked Qingchuan to bring a tinderbox to light the red candle.
When Qingchuan entered and saw this scene, he was instantly stunned: "What is Your Highness trying to do?"
Why do you act on a whim?
The prince and she have been married for two years. What does it mean that he's decorating their new house again now? Does he want to get married again?
Yan Cang glanced at him.
Qingchuan silently lit the red candles, then took his leave.
Well, he knew that no matter what the princess did, the prince wouldn't object.
Besides, it's the wedding night...
Yeah, no man would object.
Yan Cang stood in the inner room for a moment, then heard footsteps coming from behind him.
He turned his head and saw Chu Yunjin walking over after taking a bath, wearing a red coat. Her long black hair fell down, and her beautiful and refined face was without makeup or jewelry, yet he couldn't take his eyes off her.
Chu Yunjin stopped five steps away from him, not moving forward, but tilting her head slightly, staring straight at him with her dark eyes: "My husband is back?"
Yan Cang's heartstrings were suddenly plucked.
Chu Yunjin pursed her red lips, her smile alluring, carrying a touch of shy charm: "Have you taken a bath?"
Yan Cang nodded slightly: "I just washed up in the front yard."
Today I trained in horseback archery in the suburbs and got covered in dust. I washed myself clean in the front yard before coming to Frost Snow Courtyard.
Chu Yunjin's gaze fell on him.
His tall, slender body was wrapped in a moon-white robe. Compared to his usual black brocade robe, Yan Cang tonight had less of a cold and intimidating aura and more of a gentle and refined nobleman.
But Chu Yunjin knew better than anyone that beneath this elegant and noble young man's attire, there were traces of old injuries on his firm chest, shoulders, and powerful back.
He was not a pampered young nobleman.
He is a war god who protects his country.
Chu Yunjin stepped forward and gently hugged his waist: "Yan Cang".
"Um."
"Do you like what I arranged?"
Yan Cang lowered his eyes to look at the top of her head, his voice gentle to the core: "I like it."
"How about we drink a toast together?"
"good."
Chu Yunjin pulled Yan Cang's hand and walked to the table. Looking at the already lit red candles, she couldn't help but turn to look at him: "Did you light these?"
Yan Cang said, "Qingchuan ordered it."
Chu Yunjin poured two cups of wine from the wine pot, handed one to Yan Cang, and held the other cup in front of Yan Cang, gesturing to him.
Yan Cang's eyes softened, and he intertwined his wrist with hers while holding the wine glass.
Chu Yunjin smiled, and in that position, lowered her head and drank the wine in one gulp.
She had fruit wine prepared; it wasn't very intoxicating and had a slightly sweet taste, which was quite delicious.
But it's not the wine that intoxicates, it's the person who gets drunk.
The atmosphere in the room was wonderful, and both of them couldn't help but feel their emotions quicken.
After they finished drinking the nuptial wine, Yan Cang placed the two wine cups back on the table, then put his arm around her shoulder: "Shall we retire for the night now?"
Chu Yunjin pursed her lips and nodded gently.
Yan Cang picked her up horizontally, turned around and walked to the bedside, raising his hand to pull down the bed curtains.
The red candle on the table flickered, and the night outside the window deepened.
This was a belated wedding night.
Fruit wine doesn't make you drunk, but the enchanting atmosphere and deep emotions make you feel intoxicated.
