Chapter 36 Taralu Bear (Part 1)

I've been in the heart of the lake for half a year now, and my adventure level has reached D. Although I only have less than 4,000 magic crystals, I've finally paid off Martha's debt!

It is indeed troublesome to carry out a commission alone, but the corresponding reward is very generous. As long as Anna perseveres, her tuition fees should not be a problem.

Sometimes Pro would come over and ask me to help him complete quests. He felt that since I was alone anyway, it was better to give me the opportunity than to let other adventurers benefit from it.

I told him about my situation, and although I was sorry for not joining their team, Pro didn't blame me.

I also learned that he and Leah were not a couple, and the reason they often bickered was simply because of their incompatible personalities.

After collaborating with Pro multiple times, I was surprised to discover that Leah was actually a lesbian...

"She's such a cute girl!"

No wonder she kept looking at me strangely; it turns out I've been getting too close to Marta.

Surprisingly, Marta wasn't a lesbian; was it just unrequited love?

...

After arriving at the Adventurers' Guild, I still ate breakfast first, but this time I ordered two servings of fried rice. Before I knew it, I had gotten used to Lilith's presence.

She doesn't come every day, but she definitely comes when she's not doing any commissions...

It's already snowing in the middle of the lake. Without a thick coat, you probably wouldn't even dare to go outside, except for Lilith, of course.

She didn't seem to be afraid of the cold, still wearing that revealing outfit. If it weren't for her striking orcish features, she would probably be seen as a "freak".

The corner seat became my exclusive spot, and no one fought with me for it. The middle seats, on the other hand, were always full.

Because of the cold winter, fewer adventurers went out to complete quests. Instead, they stayed in the guild, drinking and chatting with their party members, and bragging about their past adventures.

It was also because of the cold winter that I learned to drink alcohol. After drinking a cup of hot beer, my whole body felt warm and cozy, although I couldn't accept the taste at first.

What I'm glad about is that the newbie team didn't give up after that battle. The carefree captain, along with two shy teammates, ran around the guild. Wherever someone was telling an adventure story, they would be there!

They also rose from F-rank to E-rank. The girls who used to tremble at the sight of monsters have now become capable warriors. I am very satisfied with what I have seen.

but……

I haven't seen Marta in a long time. Pro said she seems to have snow blindness, and Leah is taking care of her...

"I really trust Marta to be left in Lydia's care..."

I would have a few drinks with Pro, though I always lost miserably. But for a nine-year-old like me, it was too early to be exposed to this kind of thing.

I miss Sylvie terribly, not just because I miss her huge breasts, I really do miss her. I've wanted to write to her many times, but I've always put down my pen...

Father is right. Since returning from Teruneia, I have indeed become too reliant on that mundane life. I know that's impossible.

"Anna will have grown a lot too!"

This is the best thing for Anna, not because I am her savior, but because for her now, relying on me is really not good for her!

I don't want her to marry me. If she can meet a good man, get to know him, and see a happy smile on her face, there's nothing better than that...

When someone drinks alone in silence, their mind tends to wander to all sorts of random thoughts...

Lilith didn't come today; perhaps she's carrying out a commission...

I went to the notice board, thinking I should finish the job quickly and get back to the warm fireplace...

[Rank C: Hunt down the Taralu Bear pack that has built a nest near the lake in the Ruhr region. Recommended for teams of five or more.]

[Rank C: Escorting goods to Spinro City. Must be undertaken by a team of four or more.]

[Rank C: Subdue the Frozen Flowers by the Lake in the Kukuru District.]

...

"There aren't any good cases."

Frozen flowers?

never mind……

Judging from the name, it's a plant-based monster. I don't know much about these kinds of monsters, and it would be too much trouble to collect relevant information.

I accepted the commission to hunt down the bear pack. Although it was recommended to have a team of five or more, I was able to handle it by myself.

After completing the formalities, I headed to the Ruhr lake. It was quite a distance from the center of the lake, so I rented a horse-drawn carriage. Besides, the material was fur, and without a carriage, getting back would have been very troublesome...

The Taralu Bear is classified as a D-rank monster, but it's ranked as a C-rank quest probably because it appears in large groups...

Monsters are quite common in the northwestern region of the entire Kingdom of Kylorans.

It is a white bear with long, sharp teeth and a faint black stripe running down its spine to its tail.

Because of the arrival of winter, they will appear in groups to search for and store food, thus increasing the number of attacks on humans.

The difference between them and bears is...

Tara Bears are nocturnal and sleep during the day. Incidentally, their senses are particularly sharp at night, so no adventurer chooses to hunt them at night.

When I arrived at Lake Ruhr, it was around noon, which was the time when the Taralu bears were most relaxed. This was the main reason for choosing this commission.

Near the lake in the Ruhr region, there is a small river, but due to the scarcity of water, the land around the lake is dry and damp, and after snowfall, it makes a rustling sound when you step on it.

They also leave footprints of the Tara bears, who, according to their habits, usually hide under a hill.

Taralu bears don't have the ability to burrow; even when they build nests, they simply hide under the hills to claim their territory.

"Are there more than twenty?"

I hid on the hill, watching the Tara bears lying on the ground like sea lions below. With the grass providing cover, I wasn't worried about being discovered by them.

Given that it is a bear pack, a strategy must be devised. A direct ambush is not advisable, as that would disturb the other sleeping Taralu bears. If they were to charge up the hill, it would be a real problem.

"The only way is to trap them in the mud first, then unleash a wide-area fire magic attack!"

I already have a general idea in mind, and it shouldn't be difficult to implement. The only uncertainty is whether there are any active Taralu bears nearby.

Although they only operate at night, it cannot be guaranteed that all Taralu Bears are like that!

This highlights the importance of teamwork. I learned a lot while working with Pro on assignments, but it was a bit tricky when I was alone.

If there are only a few Tara bears, they are easy to deal with. But when facing a large group of bears, it is best to be careful.
