Chapter 30: Starting as an Adventurer

I swallowed hard, and seeing that everyone around us was looking our way, I couldn't help but lower my head.

I naturally understand what joining the team means...

That means becoming an adventurer, and a party is a team of adventurers formed to complete quests more quickly, usually consisting of 3-5 people.

When fighting monsters, these people are divided into three positions: vanguard, center-back, and defender, so that they can cooperate with each other to quickly kill the monsters. Even when encountering powerful monsters, they can still escape unscathed.

"Leon...? Marta, didn't you tell her?"

Seeing my surprised expression, Pro turned to Marta for a question, since she was essentially in the middle.

"He didn't ask?"

Marta said calmly, which also made me realize something.

"yes!"

I simply assumed that this was a job my father had found for me, without asking Marta what she would actually be doing in the middle of the lake.

"Ah... at least this half-baked father is somewhat reliable!"

I never imagined that my father wouldn't find me a job at all, but instead just dumped me on Marta.

I think I understand now. He meant for me to join the team, take on quests, and earn tuition fees. Although the goal is the same, the nature of the task is completely different.

but……

That's in line with the character of that half-baked father!

“Pro! This isn’t Martha’s fault…it’s my own fault for not asking clearly!”

That's what I say, but it's all my fault for having such a half-baked father!

Marta was telling the truth, but Lia, who was standing next to her, seemed a little dissatisfied.

"Hey! Pro, why are you blaming everything on Marta? Are you bullying her because she can't speak properly?!"

"Lia, I didn't blame Marta..."

"But that's exactly what you mean. Marta went all the way to pick up this kid, and you didn't even say thank you. Instead, you blame Marta. You might as well quit being the captain!"

"Ah... Leah, that's not true."

"snort……"

"Well……"

Leah is a very easygoing person, while Pro is the type who has a hard time dealing with women...

I could tell at a glance that the atmosphere was getting tense; they were probably the kind of couple who were bickering a lot.

"Martha..."

Watching the two of them bicker, although it was mostly Leah unilaterally mocking Pro, I still couldn't handle the situation.

"Hey! You over there! Can you please be quiet for a minute..."

The voice came from behind, and it turned out to be the orc woman speaking.

"Well……"

Her two sharp teeth were also showing, making her face look extremely ferocious as she glared angrily in this direction.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry!"

To be honest, I was really scared. Was this the same gentle and cute orc from just now?

"Lord Book God, I'm so sorry! I misunderstood you..."

"snort……"

They were probably disturbed by our noise and lost interest in continuing their meal. They turned around and started talking to the others before leaving, grumbling and cursing.

"Thank goodness I didn't provoke her!"

I felt a little relieved, thinking that if she had kept an eye on me, they would probably have had an extra meal tonight.

Pro and Lia stopped bickering, each turning their heads to one side, neither willing to give in.

"Ugh... this is such a headache!"

Becoming an adventurer should have been a joyful thing, but now it seems I feel no joy at all.

Marta didn't seem to like the atmosphere either, so she led me to the front desk and asked if I wanted to register as an adventurer.

Of course I want to register. Simply put, adventurers can make money faster than working. As long as you have enough strength, you can even become rich and become a world-renowned adventurer.

"Leon, would you like to join our team?"

Marta asked the same question again, but I refused.

While joining a team can indeed guarantee safety—after all, having more people means more support, and the speed and quality of completing tasks will be greatly improved—it's a different story.

That's probably what my father was thinking, which is why he gave it to Marta.

Even so, there are always times when the team has disagreements: discord during battles, conflicts of interest, and mutual blame after failing to complete a mission...

These issues will become reasons for former teammates to take action.

Although these are all stories, in this world, besides his family, he trusts no one else...

"I see! I'll pass that on to Pro."

A hint of regret flashed in Marta's eyes, but she didn't say anything to ask me to stay.

"Yes, thank you, Marta!"

Actually, I really wanted to stay in this team. Since it was my father who found the team, I was sure I could get through the year peacefully without any problems.

but……

With only four people taking on cases every day and splitting the meager rewards, can they really earn enough to cover Anna's tuition?

"Let me try it alone first! If it really doesn't work, then I'll ask Pro for help!"

"May I ask what name we'd like for the team?" The receptionist was a woman in her early twenties, whom Leon hadn't noticed when she came in.

Looking at her now, she is actually quite a beauty. Her appearance is comparable to that of Sylvie and Martha. Her only flaw is her seemingly insignificant flat chest!

"Uh...what a pity!"

I exclaimed in surprise, only then realizing that I had drifted off into thought again.

"Ahem... Is any name okay?" I'm really not good at coming up with names.

Thinking back to when we named Anna...

A chill ran down my spine...

"Yes! It's up to you!"

The receptionist smiled at me and said, "The service is really good."

"What name should we choose?"

I fell into deep thought, and for a moment I really didn't know what kind of name to choose...

You can't exactly call it the giant boobs that protect Sylvie!

"No, no, no! People will think I'm a pervert who likes women's breasts!"

"Sylvia...Sylvia..."

"Sivir...?"

"Let's call it Sivir!"

It suddenly dawned on me that there seems to be a spell called Sivir that grants holy light...

"Let's call it Sivir..."

I said to the older woman at the front desk.

"OK!"

Immediately afterwards, I saw her take out a wooden plaque, infuse it with magic, and the following appeared on it:

Sivir, Adventure Rank: F...

"Alright! Please infuse it with your own magic to prevent it from being lost and misused by others!"

I took the nameplate; it wasn't very big, about the size of a palm. After trying to infuse it with magic, I found that the text on it had disappeared, except for a symbol representing the Adventurers' Guild on the back...

"So-called information protection?"

I wasn't surprised, because only by using specific magic could the font appear.

"Am I an adventurer now?"

I've never longed for the life of an adventurer, constantly exploring this mysterious world, but why...?

I felt no excitement or thrill; on the contrary, my heart was as still as calm water.

And so, after only nine years in this world, I became an adventurer...
