Chapter 97 Side Story: "Agatha's Story"

White dew turns to frost, and the pale moon shines across the sky.

Within the Kingdom of Naroland, far from any town, lies a place known as the "Elf Forest."

The first thing that catches the eye is a lush, verdant scene, with towering trees growing in profusion, their huge and dense leaves blocking out the sun, and vines and treetops intertwining to form a unique canopy.

Looking around, you can see all kinds of plants everywhere, emitting a rich fragrance.

Deep within the Elf Forest, atop a towering 100-meter-tall Bauhinia tree sat a petite and delicate young girl. Beside her lay a blond-haired, blue-eyed boy, his hands supporting his chin, seemingly asleep.

"Ugh...so boring..."

The girl seemed a little impatient. To her, this strange sight was nothing new, something she had long since grown tired of.

"Kuro! Should we go check out the human towns?"

As if suddenly remembering something, the girl quickly shook the boy beside her and said excitedly.

"Ugh...no way..."

The boy opened his sleepy eyes, stretched, mumbled a reply, and continued to sleep.

"Hey? Kuro! Don't be like that, we'll just take a look, just one look!"

Seemingly driven by an intense curiosity about human towns, the girl continued to shake the boy, trying to get him to agree to her request.

"Ugh... Agatha, stop fooling around... It's too dangerous to go to human towns. Have you forgotten your parents' warnings?"

"Hmph... those are all lies to keep kids at home, I don't believe them. Besides... with you here! What can humans do to me! I can just run back..."

Agatha seemed dissatisfied with Kuro's answer and continued to tug at his arm and shake it playfully.

Although he had been warned since childhood not to go to the human world, even Kuro wavered a little under Agatha's insistence.

After all, judging from the world depicted in the "forbidden book," humans are not inherently evil. They, like us, build towns, cultivate farmland, and study magic...

In short, it seems that anything we can do, humans can do as well.

"Go! Go! Just one look, I promise I'll only look once! I swear I won't look a second time!"

"Sigh... Okay, okay! I promise you!"

Kuro couldn't stand Agatha's pestering any longer and had no choice but to agree.

"Hehe! I knew Kuro was the best. When I grow up, I'm definitely going to marry you!"

Upon hearing the satisfactory answer, Agatha jumped up with joy and, taking advantage of Kuro's inattention, secretly kissed his cheek.

"Hey, hey, hey! You're cheating! I... I never said I wanted to marry you!"

Kuro's face turned bright red instantly after being kissed by Agatha. He hurriedly pushed her away, slid down the tree in a panic, and then ran home.

"Don't forget! Kuro, see you here tonight!"

"I...I understand!"

~~~
Kuro is a swordsmanship prodigy among the elves. He reached the master level at the age of seven and reached the sword king level in less than a year.
It can be said that Kuro is the only Sword King-level expert among the elves.
Agatha's home wasn't far from Kuro's; the two had known each other since childhood and were childhood sweethearts.
Agatha became Kuro's first apprentice. In short, at that time, Agatha simply thought swordsmanship was fun.
Despite Kuro's dedicated instruction, she remained unable to even hold a sword steadily.
In contrast, Agatha had a strong interest in barrier magic since childhood, the kind of magic that could strengthen oneself and improve attributes for a short period of time.
However, it seems that elves are born with little magic, so despite Agatha's efforts, she was never able to improve her magic further.
This also led her to meet Kuro.
"A reckless yet timid little boy"
This was Agatha's assessment of Kuro upon their first meeting. However, to her surprise, this little boy was actually a master swordsman.
Driven by curiosity, she began to pester Kuro, wanting to learn swordsmanship as well. However, the heavy longsword always slipped from her grasp and fell to the ground.
That's why Agatha developed a strong interest in the little boy in front of her.
From then on, the only Sword King-level character, Kuro, paired with Agatha who could use amplification magic, became an incredible combination.
As time went by, Agatha quickly fell in love with this timid little boy.
However, what she didn't know was that this act of willfulness would ruin her and Kuro's wonderful life.
~~~

Under the moonlight, two petite figures moved among the dense foliage; they were Agatha and Kuro.

"Agatha, are we really going to a human town?"

To be honest, Kuro initially thought it was just a joke by Agatha, so he didn't make many preparations after returning home.

After nightfall, he found that his parents were already fast asleep. He then wrapped himself in a long robe and tiptoed out of the house, without even taking his sword.

However, when they arrived under the Bauhinia tree, they were surprised to find that Agatha had done her homework, carrying a huge backpack and wearing a hood, clearly preparing for a big adventure.

Although he had considered going home to get his longsword before setting off again, Agatha told him, "Just buy one when you get to town."

Unfortunately, it was impossible to refuse Agatha at this point, so he could only follow her out of the village.

"Don't worry, Kuro! We'll go check out the nearby towns. If we find that humans are really as our parents say, we'll run back as soon as possible."

It was clear that Agatha was very excited. She had long wanted to go to the town to find out more, but she could only stay in the forest every day, gazing at the sky, living a repetitive life.

The reason she had this thought was because she was too dependent on Kuro. She knew that with Kuro's Sword King-level strength, even if she encountered some bad guys in town, Kuro would easily take care of them.

So, as soon as she got home, she made thorough preparations.

First, there's the backpack that can hold a lot of things. Even when returning to the forest, you can bring back a lot of local specialties from the town, which can be considered a gift for your parents.

Secondly, there were the magic crystals. Although secretly taking the magic crystals her parents had accumulated over the years was not a good habit, Agatha understood that in the human world, without magic crystals, it would be impossible to move an inch.

Finally, there's the cloak. After all, such long ears are too eye-catching, and if they're not properly covered, they might attract unnecessary trouble.

After tidying everything up, Agatha sat in her room, waiting for night to fall. She would only go out after her parents fell asleep, otherwise they would find out and drag her back to the room.

As the chirping of insects grew louder, and after repeatedly confirming that her parents were asleep, Agatha carefully stepped out of her room, carrying her large backpack.

After completely leaving the village, she excitedly ran towards the Bauhinia tree, but it seemed she had arrived too early and did not see Kuro.

After waiting for a while, just when they thought Kuro wasn't coming, they found him timidly running over.

After a few complaints, he ran out of the forest.

but.

Even as he listened to Agatha's promise to "just take a look," Kuro was distracted. He felt that there must be a reason why his parents warned him every day.

But the world depicted in the "banned book" is different from the one described by parents.

Clearly, Kuro was deeply conflicted. He knew very well that if humans were really as depicted in the "Forbidden Book," Agatha would probably never return to the forest.

"What if it's like what's depicted in the 'Forbidden Book'? Agatha, what are your plans?"

Although that was the thought in mind, Kuro still tentatively asked Agatha.

"Hmm...that would be perfect. I was thinking of living in a human town, and then...marrying Kuro, and having a bunch of big, healthy boys, hehe...that's it, Kuro, you'll always be with me, right..."

Agatha Christie was not entirely uninhibited about Kuro, and she even made thorough preparations for her future life plans, although that was a long time from now. However, she seemed to have made up her mind about something.

However, Kuro did not want that. Although he had decided that he would marry Agatha when he grew up, he did not want to leave his parents and live alone in a strange town.

"Of course I'll stay with you... But is living in a human town really a good idea?"

It wasn't because of the fear of humans that his parents talked about, but because he liked being with his parents.

"Why is it bad? We're not the only two who ran out of the forest, yet we're still warned every day how terrible humans are. I'm so tired of hearing that!"

Agatha, on the other hand, had long wanted to leave her parents and live on her own, burdened by their constant nagging.

Just as Kuro had thought, even if she rejected Agatha now, she would still go to the human town alone to find out what was going on.

"Alright then..."

Left with no other choice, Kuro could only accompany Agatha, as he was worried about her going to the human town alone.

However, he also began to regret that he hadn't made adequate preparations after returning home.

At the very least, you should keep a longsword with you.
