Suspicion and Identity Exposure

Suspicion and Identity Exposure

Hikaru Midorikawa is not doing well lately; he suspects his identity has been exposed.

When he received news that someone had started inquiring about the things he had investigated, the weight that had been hanging over Midorikawa Hikaru's heart finally lifted. He didn't let anyone make any rash moves for fear of alerting the people behind the other party, or letting them know that he had begun to suspect something.

After remaining silent for two minutes, Hikaru Midorikawa cleaned up the computer he had used in the safe house. Then he picked up his hidden phone and hesitated about whether to call his childhood friend to inform him.

Just then, a car headlight shone outside the house, the curtains were drawn, and the light flashed by, startling Midorikawa Hikaru awake.

He gripped his phone tightly, a determined glint in his eyes. He turned and went back to the bedroom, grabbed a black backpack, packed something inside, and knelt down on one knee beside the bed. Under the dark floorboards near the pillow, he had a fully loaded pistol taped to his back with yellow tape.

Hikaru Midorikawa checked the gun a few times, then tucked it into his waistband and covered it with his trench coat. He slung his bag over his shoulder and went through all the information about him in the safe house.

It was 3:12 a.m., forty minutes after he received the suspected information about his exposure.

After leaving the safe house, Hikaru Midorikawa drove around the area a few times to make sure no one was following him before driving away.

The Black Organization has many safe houses for its codenamed members, and aside from missions and operations, members rarely see each other. Midorikawa Hikaru has just returned from a mission, and no one will notice him for a while, giving him about two days to plan his next move.

After driving to another safe house, Midorikawa Hikaru carefully cleaned up any traces and then prepared some food to put in the safe house. He now needed to determine whether the Black Organization had discovered his undercover identity, in order to deduce the accuracy of his investigation.

If the Black Organization discovers his undercover identity, it means his investigation has delved deep into rum, and the Black Organization will only become aware of such crucial information.

Hikaru Midorikawa knew that he was using himself as bait, but when his gaze fell on the old black cell phone on the table, his eyes became firm and filled with unwavering determination.

-

"What?! Scotland is an undercover agent!" Tsurumi Kawaru's golden eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief. He stared blankly at Curaçao, who remained unmoved, as if casually tossing down a heavy bullet.

Curaçao was reviewing information about Midorikawa Hikaru. Under the bright incandescent light, her heterochromatic eyes silently exuded a strange, inorganic coldness.

Curaçao, without looking up, continued flipping through the documents: "The organization has launched a purge of Scotland, and Gin and his men have already taken action. Since the last mission Scotland carried out before its exposure was a joint operation between you and Ray, the organization needs to thoroughly investigate you all. However, there's currently one better way to prove it—"

As he spoke, Curaçao looked up from the documents in his hand, his cold, heterochromatic eyes fixed on Tsurumi Ryu: "Kill the undercover agent, Scotland."

Tsurumi blinked, recovering from the bombshell news that Scotland was actually an undercover agent. He opened his mouth when he heard Curaçao's suggestion, but his mind was still a mess.

Curaçao glanced at him and then lowered her head. "Ray is a smart man; he's already set off."

Tsurumi Kawaru exclaimed "Ah!" and finally snapped out of his daze. He hurriedly grabbed his things, put on the headphones that Curaçao had thrown at him, and rushed off to chase after Rae.

This night was destined to be extraordinary.

Bourbon learned about Scotland's undercover work an hour later than Tsurumi and Ray. After learning that the organization had given orders for Gin, Ray, and Suz to take action, the blond, dark-skinned youth's face turned extremely ugly.

Amuro Tooru paced back and forth in the room with a grim face. Finally, he gritted his teeth, picked up his phone, and knocked on Curaçao's office door. Curaçao was clearly surprised by his arrival. She put down the documents in her hand, interlaced her fingers, and looked at Bourbon, who was standing in front of her with a hint of ingratiation.

Amuro Tooru didn't immediately state his purpose upon entering. He knew that the incident of going to the sushi restaurant with Tsurumi Kawakami was still fresh in Curaçao's mind, so he beat around the bush and said some nonsense. Seeing that Curaçao was getting a little impatient, he changed the subject and brought up Scotland.

Bourbon curled his lips into a smile with a hint of ingratiation: "I heard that Leigh has a good relationship with Scotland. Now that it's a done deal that Scotland is an undercover agent, shouldn't our intelligence team also make a move in the arrest operation?"

The Black Organization has arrested undercover agents before, but this time is subtly different. As Rum's confidante, Curaçao is well aware of why Scotland's identity was exposed.

When Curaçao learned that the person investigating Rum's identity was from Scotland, she initially thought she had misread it; the intelligence report said Bourbon, not Scotland. But after calming down and carefully checking the information, she followed the clues back to Scotland, arrested a few people, and learned Scotland's identity. She immediately reported this information to Rum.

Rum acted quickly as well, immediately ordering Gin to lead men to capture Scotland upon receiving the news.

But afterwards, Curaçao couldn't understand where Scotland got the information and went to investigate Rum's identity. She was initially suspicious of Bourbon because Tsurumi had only taken him to a sushi restaurant. But then she thought that if Bourbon's identity was questionable, he wouldn't take such a risky step when he was being targeted by her and in an awkward and delicate position in the organization.

If Bourbon were caught investigating Rum's identity, his situation would become even more dangerous.

Curaçao's suspicions about Bourbon lessened somewhat, but she still couldn't understand how Scotland had come to suspect Rum's identity. Moreover, Rum had developed some resentment towards her because of this, and now Curaçao wanted to make amends, and capturing Scotland was the best way.

Curaçao, considering Gin's modus operandi, figured that Scotland would likely be dealt with immediately if it fell into his hands.

After a moment of silence, Curaçao looked up at Bourbon, who was standing in front of the desk, and said, “Since you put it that way, I’ll give you a chance to bring Scotland back.”

It was one in the morning, and the night was quiet.

The residential buildings on the old town side were quiet. In the deep darkness of the night, the old buildings looked like lurking beasts, their outlines somewhat indistinct under the dim orange streetlights.

Heavy breathing swept through the darkness, and light footsteps followed the half-open stairwell door upwards. The narrow, cramped stairwell was not very clean, and the stale air was inhaled directly into the lungs.

Hikaru Midorikawa, clutching his arm, rushed to the rooftop of this old residential building. He hid in a blind spot near the water heater connecting to the ground floor, his tense back pressed against the dusty, exposed cement corner of the wall.

His breathing was slightly rapid, his forehead was covered in a fine layer of cold sweat, and his face was a little pale.

This is due to excessive blood loss.

Hikaru Midorikawa bit down on the hem of his T-shirt and tore off a long strip of cloth. His hands, which were usually steady without shaking, were trembling uncontrollably as he gritted his teeth and bandaged himself.

His right upper arm was hit while dodging Gin's gun, which was originally aimed at his head.

After the bandage was applied, the bleeding slowed down significantly. Midorikawa Hikaru took a breath, picked up the gun on the ground, removed the magazine, and looked inside. There were still five bullets left. He paused for two seconds and then reloaded the magazine.

Hikaru Midorikawa pulled out an old black cell phone from the lining of his coat, close to his chest, and sent a text message to a frequently contacted number.

After finishing this task, Midorikawa Hikaru stood up, leaning against the wall. He couldn't stay in one place for too long, or the Black Organization would catch up.

Thinking this, he walked straight to the low wall at the edge of the rooftop. The old residential buildings were not tall, and the buildings were crowded together. The rooftops were only about a meter apart, and some even shared a rooftop, with each side separated by a low wall about knee-high.

Hikaru Midorikawa stepped forward along the low wall. It was so dark that visibility was very low, so he had to walk close to the base of the wall just in case.

Just as he leaped over a low wall and was about to open the rooftop door, he heard light footsteps approaching the rooftop. His expression hardened, and he quickly ducked to the side, pointing his gun at the rooftop door.

Let's rewind to an hour earlier.

After Tsurumi Ryu caught up with Rai based on Curaçao's information, the two began working together. They first went to the safe house in Scotland. Inside the house, Gin, dressed in a black trench coat and wearing a black top hat, exuded a cold aura. He only gave the two of them a cold glance when he saw them arrive, and then left with Vodka, who had searched the house but found nothing.

Having received a cold glare for no reason, Tsurumi Kawaru, somewhat afraid of Gin, hid behind Rai. After the two of them left, he looked up at Rai with a pained expression and asked, "Where do we go next?"

Ray gave him a cryptic look, and then the two of them started following Gin, searching until they finally found traces of Scotland.

After Gin shot Scotland, who was wounded and fled, Tsurumi Kawakami and Rye separated from Gin and the others. Tsurumi Kawakami, not being very bright, couldn't figure out where Scotland would hide, so he just followed Rye around, trying to use his tracking skills.

Tsurumi Kawakami looked up at the old building, blinked his golden eyes, nudged Ray in front of him, and whispered, "Is Scotland really here?"

Lei snorted and strode inside. Tsurumi Kawaru pouted, muttered something under his breath, and then followed him eagerly.

Pushing open the rooftop door, Lai carefully walked out. Seeing his cautious manner, Tsurumi Kawakami also slowed down his movements and even softened his breathing.

Two gunshots rang out, and Rye dodged them. Tsurumi Kawakami, taking advantage of the chaos, hid in a corner. He strained his eyes, trying to find Scotland, but it was too dark, and there were many things on the rooftop. His search yielded nothing, so he could only move towards the direction from which the gunshots had come.

Ray also immediately identified the approximate location of the gunshot. He moved as lightly as a predator and quickly found an excellent hiding spot.

But before he could make a move, Tsurumi Kawaru, who had reached nearby, smelled the faint scent of blood in the wind. He swallowed hard and continued to move forward, only to be swiftly tackled to the ground by Scotland.

Tsurumi Kawaru's face was pressed against the rough, uneven cement ground, his back against Scotland's knees. Apart from his two legs, which could still twitch a couple of times, he was completely restrained.

"Midori, are you really an undercover agent sent by the Japanese Public Security Bureau?" Tsurumi Nagare struggled a couple of times, but when he realized he couldn't break free, he gave up. He was still very curious about Midorikawa Hikaru's undercover identity and couldn't understand why he would come to the Black Organization as an undercover agent.

Upon hearing the commotion, Lei frowned and deftly flipped over from his hiding place.

Hikaru Midorikawa pressed his knee against Nagaru Tsurumi's. Hearing the noise, he switched to using one hand to restrain him, and then pointed his gun at Ray, who appeared behind him.
