Healing the gifted and the honesty

Healing the gifted and the honesty

Top floor of the port's Mafia.

The luxurious yet understated suite bedroom is filled with a complex blend of medicinal and aromatherapy scents.

The old leader, whose condition had improved after treatment, sat on the headboard of the large bed, his back against the pillows. His gaze fell on Mori Ougai in front of him, with a hint of barely perceptible appreciation and satisfaction.

Wearing a white coat, Mori Ougai ignored the gazes directed at him, calmly reporting the next stage of treatment progress in brief sentences as usual.

After finishing his report, he glanced hesitantly at the old man on the hospital bed and said tactfully, "Chief, although your condition is much better than before, a complete cure might be difficult unless—"

The old leader understood his meaning. The long-accumulated hidden injuries in his body erupted, and a series of chain reactions almost caused him to fall into eternal sleep.

People who hold high positions of power and have been immersed in power for a long time will feel fear and panic when facing death.

The ambitions of the man who once single-handedly built the port Mafia have changed, and the current leader still harbors ambitions. But under the shadow of death, the desire for power is far outweighed by the desire to escape death.

So when he was seriously ill and faced with the fear of death, the old leader became suspicious and acted increasingly tyrannically and unpredictably.

Noticing Mori Ougai's lingering meaning, the old leader, with his gray hair and wrinkled face, opened his half-closed eyes and stared at Mori Ougai with a powerful aura of authority.

Mori Ougai's face paled instantly. He took a small step back, his expression becoming even more respectful. He lowered his head slightly and seemed to remain silent for a few seconds before speaking.

"I stepped down from my original job for some reason. My former intern assistant was a very rare person with healing abilities. She can definitely cure the hidden injuries in your body."

Upon hearing Mori Ougai's words, a glimmer of hope immediately appeared in the old leader's slightly cloudy eyes.

Those with healing abilities are extremely rare. The old leader had tried to find them using the resources of the port's Mafia, but each attempt ended in disappointment.

Now that Mori Ougai has told him about the existence of the healing ability user, the old leader, under the influence of his intense desire and the torment of his illness, did not doubt the truth of Mori Ougai's words. He was eager to know the whereabouts of the healing ability user.

Mori Ougai gave a bitter smile, looked up at the old leader, and said, "Back then, I used my connections to avoid imprisonment and returned to Yokohama with nothing. She was secretly imprisoned because of her supernatural abilities. But I have never given up looking for her. All I know now is that she is being held in a sanatorium in Yokohama."

After listening to Mori Ougai's words, the old leader calmed down a bit. He scrutinized the private doctor in front of him, weighing the truthfulness of Mori Ougai's words and the benefits he could gain from them.

After thinking for a while, the old leader said in a deep voice, "This matter doesn't need to be known by too many people. I will have Hongye from the intelligence department help you investigate."

"Yes, thank you, Chief." Mori Ougai pretended not to notice the old chief's true thoughts and said gratefully.

Seeing the old leader wave his hand wearily, Mori Ougai shrewdly picked up the medicine box at his feet, turned around, and left the bedroom.

The fifteenth floor of the Mafia building in the port.

Inside the room, Tsurumi Kawaru lay bored in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the shopping street not far away, a hint of longing and desire showing deep in his golden eyes.

He turned around, his eager gaze falling on the black-haired boy sitting cross-legged on the sofa playing games, and said expectantly, "Dazai, can we go out and play today? I want to go see Chuuya."

A voice, tinged with a lazy tone, rang out amidst the background music of an action-packed game: "Go if you want."

Tsurumi Kawakami's eyes lit up, quite interested, but the thought of the burly man in the black suit following him when he went out made him pout unhappily.

“But they will follow.” The black-haired, golden-eyed boy’s lips curled down, his displeasure plain for all to see.

Dazai Osamu finished a game and put down his phone. He turned around and looked at Tsurumi Nagare, who was hanging his head and picking at the carpet. He pondered for a few seconds.

Just then, the sound of a door opening came from next door.

Dazai Osamu crossed his arms and leaned against the cushion, saying, "Mr. Mori is back. If you want to go out, go and talk to him."

Tsurumi Kawakami paused, listened to the noise, and then his eyes lit up. He quickly ran towards the door, his previous resentful expression gone.

In the corridor, Mori Ougai took out his key from his pocket, opened the door, and before he could even enter, he heard the sound of the door next door opening.

Upon seeing Mori Ōgai, Tsurumi Kawakami excitedly exclaimed, "Dr. Mori!"

Mori Ougai turned around and stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over the half-open door next door before landing on Tsurumi Kawaru. He looked at him with a gentle smile and asked, "Kawaru, is there something you need?"

Tsurumi Kawakami scratched his cheek and told him about his desire to go out: "Could those people please not follow us?"

Mori Ougai paused, a dark glint flashing in his eyes. He stared intently at the black-haired boy in front of him for a moment, then nodded and said with a gentle smile, "I understand. I will tell them."

Tsurumi Kawaru cheered and rushed forward to hug Mori Ougai with great joy. He then turned and ran back to his room to tell Dazai Osamu the news.

Leibo Street, Sheep Territory.

Chuuya Nakahara was surprised to see Tsurumi Kawaru and the others. He happily led them back to his house and even gave Sota, who had brought them in, a handful of candy.

Tsurumi Kawaru sat in a chair, took a sip of the juice Chuuya had poured for him, and chattered on about the Mafia at the port.

"Oh right, did Rando come looking for you?" Tsurumi Kawakami suddenly remembered this and put down his cup to ask.

Chuuya Nakahara nodded slightly, his expression somewhat complicated when he mentioned Rando. He glanced at Tsurumi Kawaru and Dazai Osamu beside him, and said, "Do you know the rumors circulating in Raihachi Street about Arahabaki?"

Tsurumi Kawakami shook his head blankly, then turned to look at Dazai Osamu.

Dazai Osamu was fiddling with the Rubik's Cube, untouched by the juice Chuuya had poured for him, his eyes drooping lazily. Hearing Chuuya's words and feeling Tsurumi Ryuu's gaze, the black-haired, iris-eyed boy looked up and met Tom's eyes for a few seconds with an unchanged expression.

“I’ve never heard of it,” Dazai Osamu replied truthfully.

Tsurumi Kawa abruptly averted his gaze and turned to look at Nakahara Chuuya, asking with a puzzled expression, "What is Arahabaki? Is it related to Chuuya's background?"

With a furrowed brow and a serious expression, Chuuya Nakahara seemed to have made a major decision. He took a deep breath and said very solemnly, "Raibo Street did not actually exist seven years ago. An accidental explosion created a deep crater, which is what we see as Raibo Street today."

"Some survivors described the explosion as the descent of the god Arahato."

"—I am Araba-to."

After saying all this in one breath, Chuuya Nakahara's heart trembled with nervousness. He clenched his fingertips tightly, trying his best not to show any emotion. Chuuya looked nervously at the two people in front of him and said the words that had been on his mind for a long time.

Tsurumi Kawa was somewhat bewildered by his rapid speech and the large amount of information he received. In addition, due to the difference in his own knowledge, he did not quite understand what Arahabaki was, and only extracted the word "god" and the last sentence.

After digesting the information for half a minute, Tsurumi Kawakami, having roughly figured it out, stared wide-eyed at Nakahara Chuuya and exclaimed in shock and disbelief, "So Chuuya, you're a god—!!"

After Tsurumi Kawa finished exclaiming in amazement, he stared at Nakahara Chuuya with a look of novelty, "I thought there were only superhumans in this world. I didn't know there were gods too."

After saying that, he suddenly remembered something, a glint of light flashed in his golden eyes, and he leaned closer to Chuuya Nakahara and whispered, "Actually, I'm not a superhuman either. I'm a hero from another world."

Tsurumi Kawaru, fearing that Nakahara Chuuya wouldn't believe him, turned to Dazai Osamu to testify for him, "Dazai also knows that I am the Shield Hero from another world with monsters and magical beasts, and my life's mission is to defeat the Demon King!"

The black-haired, golden-eyed boy spoke with a righteous and awe-inspiring air.

Chuuya Nakahara was stunned for a moment. The slight tension in his heart dissipated in Tsurumi Kawa's chuunibyou speech, and what followed was a comforting warmth.

He curled his lips into a bright, untroubled smile. Although he was very happy, he said with a hint of arrogance, "Heroes and such are powerful, but not as powerful as me."

Sitting alone on the sofa, Dazai Osamu's lips twitched. He looked at the two of them silently, thinking to himself: They really are two idiots.

After skipping that topic, Chuuya Nakahara briefly explained why Randou had come to see him, mentioning that he hadn't told Randou that he was Arahabaki.

"I feel like Lantang is also looking for information about Arabato," he said to them after a moment's hesitation.

Tsurumi Kawaru said with slight surprise, "Eh? Randou is looking for you? Why? Is he also from Leibo Street?"

Chuuya Nakahara shook his head and frowned, saying, "I don't know. Rando only said he had something very important to do."

Seeing Chuuya's expression, Tsurumi Kawakami stepped forward, patted him on the shoulder, and said readily, "Don't worry, we won't tell anyone that you're a god."

“Right, Dazai?” He turned to look at the person on the sofa.

Dazai Osamu tossed the scrambled Rubik's Cube around and gave a thoughtful "hmm".

They finally managed to get out without anyone by their side, so Tsurumi Kawakami dragged Chuuya to the arcade and played games all afternoon. Then, before sunset, they went to a convenience store and bought a lot of snacks.

"I don't think this was available before?" Tsurumi Kawaru stared at the popsicle in his hand.

"Convenience stores will only have them when summer comes," Chuuya Nakahara said, holding the stick.

"Hmm, this is my first time trying it." Tsurumi Kawakami nodded in sudden realization, then imitated Chuuya by taking a bite and putting it in his mouth, saying in a muffled voice, "But it tastes really good, cool and refreshing!"

"Right! I felt the same way the first time I ate it." Chuuya Nakahara was slightly excited.

"Tch, two ignorant idiots, what's the big deal?" Dazai Osamu mocked.

"Hey! You bastard Dazai, do you want a beating?"

"You're asking for it!" Tsurumi Kawakami, biting into an ice pop, raised his fist in agreement.

"Oh dear, the little dwarf and the idiot are furious!"

The three people walked along the road, one after the other, their shadows growing longer and longer in the afterglow of the setting sun until they disappeared into the distance.
