Offense, Evidence, and Resistance
Outside the manor.
Rum's face was dark and gloomy. He opened the car door and got in, his expression turning grim as he recalled the conversation in the meeting room and the long-unseen Suz.
He glanced resentfully at the manor where the banquet was being held, his voice trembling with suppressed anger, and ordered the driver to drive away.
Back at the organization, Rum, who had been suppressing his anger, paced back and forth. Finally, unable to swallow his anger, he picked up his phone and called Curaçao, telling her to come see him immediately.
A moment later, Curaçao pushed the door open and came in.
Rum sat behind the solid wood table with a grim face, his single, undamaged eye sharply fixed on Curaçao. After a moment of silence, he finally asked, "What missions has the action team been on lately?"
Curaçao had sensed from Rum's phone call before she arrived that he was in a bad mood, so she was mentally prepared to be vented on by him on her way here. However, when she saw Rum's extremely ugly, angry, and dark face, Curaçao was still taken aback.
From the time she started working for Rum until now, Curaçao has rarely seen Rum so emotionally volatile. Even when he was at odds with Gin, secretly vying for power, or bribing lower-level staff to monitor his actions, things had never escalated to this point.
However, considering the recent winds within the organization, Curaçao vaguely guessed the outcome of this power struggle between Rum and Gin, and couldn't help but feel a little surprised and curious.
But now was not the time to think about these things. Curaçao took a deep breath, calmed herself down, and gave Rum a brief and methodical report.
After listening to Curaçao's report, Rum had a general idea of what was going on. He pondered for a few seconds and then ordered with a sinister look in his eyes: "From today onwards, I will monitor every action Gin takes on his mission. If necessary, you can act first and report later."
Since Gin was the first to break the ice, giving the boss a cold shoulder and even introducing Suz, whom he had finally found, to the boss, Rum is no longer planning to cause any more trouble.
If he wants to maintain his position in the organization, or even rise to the top and return to his former position as number one, then he must severely suppress Gin, who is now a new and capable person in front of the boss.
Besides, Gin is just a dog that the boss picked up from outside. Why should he be on equal footing with him, an organization elder?
Rum was filled with a multitude of thoughts, but they all ultimately culminated in the disappointment the boss had shown him at the manor's last glance, and the disheveled way he had left the manor.
Curaço looked surprised when she heard Rum's order. She was now genuinely curious about what Gin had done to make Rum decide to take such action.
It's important to know that although the intelligence group and the action group have always been at odds and have previously been secretly monitoring Gin's operations, Rum has always been cautious in order not to disrupt the balance between the two sides, and only sends people to monitor when necessary.
The emotion on her face lasted only a second before Curaçao composed herself, respectfully responded, and awaited Rum's next command.
After giving the orders to keep watch, Rum suddenly pictured Suzijiu's infuriating face, so he looked up at Curaçao and demanded, "What's wrong with that Suzijiu guy?"
Since bringing Tsurumi Ryu back to the organization, Rum has entrusted him to Curaçao's care. Rum usually learns from his trusted confidant, and before he was assigned to Gin's side, Curaçao was responsible for contacting Suz's wine.
Now that this has happened, Rum is not only embarrassed, but his first instinct is to confront Curaçao.
Curaçao's heart skipped a beat, but she calmed down and replied, "Suzjiu has never shown any disloyalty. He behaved very well before he went missing and lost contact, reporting on his actions every three days."
She tried to tell Rum that the situation was not her fault, and that Suz was just too good at pretending.
Rum paused, recalling how he had seen Tsurumi Ryu turn pale with embarrassment at Rum's blunt words at the manor. He remained silent for two seconds before changing the subject, bringing up the recent arrangements for the intelligence team.
Rum: "Bourbon is not bad. We can assign him any tasks."
Curaçao nodded, her opinion of Bourbon changing somewhat because he had told her about the Suz wine in advance.
After arranging some recent miscellaneous tasks, Rum waved to Curaçao, signaling her to leave.
Curaçao breathed a sigh of relief, bowed respectfully, and withdrew.
-
Meanwhile, Bourbon, whom they were talking about, was excited to have unexpectedly reconnected with Tsurumi Kawa. Holding his phone, he looked around, quickly walked to a blind spot, leaned against the wall, and spoke in a low voice, trying to suppress his excitement.
"Where are you located now, and is it a convenient place to talk?"
During the days when they lost contact, Amuro Tooru was worried that Gin would discover his identity and treat him as an undercover agent, and he was also afraid that Tsurumi Ryu would be used as a guinea pig at that research institute.
Upon receiving the call, Amuro Tooru finally breathed a sigh of relief. However, not knowing Tsurumi Kawakami's current situation, he didn't ask too many questions, only asking a few simple and clear ones.
On the other end of the phone, Tsurumi Ryu had stolen someone else's phone to call Amuro Tooru because he had accidentally discovered a secret, but he was unsure of what to do. Considering Amuro Tooru's identity, he made the call.
"I'm fine. I'm at the leader's manor now. I used someone else's phone to call you," Tsurumi Kawa said softly, glancing at the bodyguard in a suit lying on the floor in the room.
After saying that, he glanced hesitantly at the closed door and stammered, "May I kill the leader?"
Toru Amuro: ""
Amuro Tooru was stunned and stammered, "You, what did you say? Who are you going to kill?"
He almost lost his voice for a moment, but luckily he remembered that he was outside. Amuro Tooru looked up and left and right like a thief, and then pulled down the brim of his baseball cap.
Tsurumi Kawakami was completely unaware of Amuro Tooru's feelings at that moment. He scratched his cheek with a slightly conflicted expression, then repeated his previous question in a firm tone: "Can I kill him?"
Amuro Tooru suddenly felt a headache coming on. He took a deep breath and calmly asked, "Why did you suddenly want to kill him?"
Tsurumi Kawa pursed his lips and said, "He's so evil. He actually wants to use people for experiments. I asked Sherry and I know what they're researching."
After he finished speaking, he paused and his voice became muffled: "And I don't like the way he looks at me. These days, old men have been coming to the manor looking for him, wanting the anti-aging medicine that he is researching."
Amuro Tooru paused for a moment as he listened to Tsurumi Kawaru's straightforward words on the other end of the phone, then noticed the important information in his words.
However, killing is wrong no matter what, so Amuro Tooru carefully chose his words and said jokingly, "You haven't forgotten who I am, have you? I came here to capture him. If you kill him, you'll become a criminal too."
"I know, but I don't want to wait any longer."
Amuro Tooru's heart skipped a beat, fearing that Amuro might do something rash. He quickly said, "Don't make any rash moves. You're all alone there. What will you do if you kill him? Aren't you being held by his side right now? As long as you get the evidence of his crime, I'll bring people to arrest him as soon as I get my hands on it."
"Is that so?" Tsurumi Kawakami hesitated, unsure whether to listen to Amuro Tooru.
Amuro Tooru hummed in agreement and said, "But the premise is that you must ensure your own safety."
"All right."
Tsurumi Kawakami nodded in agreement with a hint of regret.
Seeing that he agreed, Amuro Tooru breathed a sigh of relief. After clarifying the location of the manor and the wealthy nobles and politicians who had come to ask for medicine in the past few days, they ended the call.
Amuro Tooru gripped his phone, muttering to himself thoughtfully, "Looks like I need to get Kazami and the others to hurry up."
He frowned and thought for a moment, then put his phone in his pocket, looked around, pulled down his baseball cap, and blended into the crowd like a fish in the sea, pretending to be an ordinary person.
-
"Big brother, Rum's started again."
Vodka gripped the steering wheel and glanced at Gin in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
They had just finished a mission, killing a traitor with ulterior motives. Gin held a lit cigarette between his fingers; he wasn't smoking it, but rather using the smoke to calm the turmoil of the killing and to review the mission.
Gin didn't react to Vodka's dissatisfaction, or rather, he had already guessed that Rum would take action when he introduced Tsurumi Kawa to the boss.
Gin: "What is it this time?"
The intelligence group's influence extends far beyond what it appears on the surface. Gin doesn't usually intend to officially fall out with Rum, even though some of Rum's actions sometimes displease him. He knows that the more underhanded things Rum does, the less likely he is to recover when the boss brings up past grievances.
Vodka told Gin what he had just learned.
Although their action group relied on intelligence from the intelligence group, Gin and his team were not entirely without their own intelligence. Ever since his falling out with Rum, Gin had been gradually building his own intelligence network.
So when Rum made a big move, Vodka received the news immediately.
After finishing his cigarette, Gin tossed the filter into the car's trash can, fiddled with a silver lighter in his right hand, and after a few seconds of cold contemplation, looked up and said, "Detain him first."
Vodka's eyes lit up, and he nodded in agreement.
Previously, when Rum tried to pull some tricks, Gin usually ignored it and let him do as he pleased.
Although Vodka didn't say it, he had been holding back his anger. Now, hearing Gin's words about detaining his men, he immediately rubbed his hands together, eager to try his luck.
-
Amuro Tooru hadn't even had a chance to find out what was going on when he was called over by Curaçao. He had recently won Curaçao's favor, and when he heard that he was assigned to monitor Gin, he couldn't help but show a hint of surprise on his face.
Amuro Tooru hesitated for a second, then asked, "Would Gin use me?"
Curaçao pinched the bridge of his nose, looking tired, and said, "He'll be able to use it. There's a big event coming up in the organization, and the action team is short-handed."
Amuro Tooru was startled, but his expression remained unchanged. He simply looked at her with a hint of curiosity: "Something important."
Curaçao nodded, but she clearly didn't want to say more, only giving a vague explanation before adding, "Vermouth will be with you, anyway... be careful of her."
Amuro Tooru was now extremely curious about this. He nodded in agreement and turned to leave.
