Private doctor and port stay
A black car was parked in front of the clinic.
Then the car door opened, and two burly men in black suits and sunglasses got out. One guarded the surroundings, while the other stepped forward, pushed open the clinic door, and went inside.
A moment later, the burly man in the black suit emerged with two teenagers. The man in the black suit, who was on guard duty, exchanged a glance with his colleague, then opened the back door and let the two teenagers get in.
Just as the car was about to start, Tsurumi Kawakami, sitting in the back, realized what was happening, turned around to look at the open clinic door, and quickly called for it to stop.
After pulling down and locking the clinic's roller shutter, Tsurumi Kawakami quietly sat back down.
The car started up again, taking them away from Leibo Street and towards Yokohama's landmark buildings: five towering black buildings.
Inside the car, Tsurumi Kawakuri was restless, as if there were nails hidden under the comfortable, soft leather seats. He would occasionally peek through the one-way window at the buildings and pedestrians flashing by outside, and every now and then turn his head to look at the black-suited men in the front row in front of him.
Tsurumi Kawa glanced at the man in the black suit driving in front, then leaned close to Dazai Osamu's ear and whispered, "Why are they picking us up?"
Unlike Tsurumi Kawakami, who was not used to the ride, Dazai Osamu leaned back in his seat as soon as he got on the train, stretching out his legs naturally and playing with the Rubik's Cube he had brought with him.
Dazai Osamu lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes obscuring a glint of darkness in them. His fingers moved rapidly, turning the Rubik's Cube, and he said in a flat, casual tone, "Perhaps Mr. Mori wants to see us."
Tsurumi Kawakami took it seriously, nodded thoughtfully, and then sat back down.
They soon arrived at their destination, and the black car stopped in front of one of the buildings in the port of Mafia.
The car door opened, and Tsurumi Kawakami stepped out. He tilted his head slightly, staring at the building with curiosity in his eyes. Dazai Osamu tossed his Rubik's Cube aside and walked to his side, his iris-like eyes sweeping over the guards at the building entrance with an ambiguous look.
"What are you standing there for? Let's go."
Tsurumi Kawakami snapped out of his daze, gave a blank reply, and caught up with Dazai Osamu, following him into the building under the guidance of the man in the black suit.
"Lord Kato, the person has been brought." The burly man in the black suit said respectfully to the young man in front of him.
"Okay, you can go now." The young man, referred to as Kato, wore a pair of round glasses with thin gold rims.
He had delicate features, and his figure appeared somewhat thin compared to the burly men in black suits passing by.
Tsurumi Kawaru's gaze lingered on him for a moment, and after the man in the black suit left, he hesitated for a few seconds before tentatively asking, "Did Dr. Mori send us?"
Kato paused, his eyes, hidden behind his glasses, subtly scanning the two boys in front of him, before smiling and saying, "It's not Dr. Mori, it's our leader who wants to see you."
After saying that, he led the two of them toward the elevator, whispering a few words of comfort along the way.
After entering the elevator, the young man pressed the button for the top floor, then took a step back and quieted down.
When Tsurumi Kawaru heard that the leader of the Port Mafia wanted to see them, he opened his eyes wide in surprise and looked at Dazai Osamu beside him with his round golden eyes.
Dazai Osamu glanced at him, and at his signal, Tsurumi Kawakami shut his mouth and followed quietly beside him without saying a word.
The elevator quickly reached the top floor, and the two of them stepped out.
As they walked down the corridor, the young man named Kato seemed to sense Tsurumi Nagare's tension and explained softly, "Dr. Mori is now the leader's personal physician. Because the subsequent treatment requires close care, the leader brought you here."
Tsurumi Kawakami nodded, half understanding, and when he caught a glimpse of Dazai Osamu's calm and languid expression, his tension subsided considerably.
They quickly entered the deepest office, and then, led by Kato, arrived at the rest suite hidden behind it.
Upon entering, Tsurumi Kawakuri saw Mori Ougai sitting on the sofa.
Seeing Tsurumi Kawa was a little excited. After Mori Ougai smiled and called their names, the unease and tension in the black-haired, golden-eyed boy's heart completely disappeared.
Kato stood aside without approaching, and only stepped forward after they finished speaking, saying, "Dr. Mori, the leader wants to see them again."
Mori Ougai seemed to only then notice him, his smile fading slightly as he politely said, "Thank you for your hard work, Kato-kun."
Tsurumi Kawakami keenly noticed that Mori Ougai seemed somewhat distant from Kato. He waved to the doctor in the white coat, and then followed Kato into the bedroom with Dazai.
Upon entering the bedroom, Tsurumi Kawaru wrinkled his nose. He looked up at the large bed in the middle, where an elderly man with gray hair and wrinkles on his face lay sickly.
He was wearing an oxygen mask, and his wrinkled hand, which was resting on a dark blanket, was bluish-purple, with an indwelling needle taped to his face.
Tsurumi Kawaru's gaze traveled up the arm, and he was caught off guard when he met the old man's sharp, eagle-like eyes.
Caught peeking, the black-haired, golden-eyed boy was stunned for a moment before realizing what had happened and quickly looked away, standing obediently in front of the bed.
"Cough cough cough—" The old leader took off his oxygen mask, stared at the two black-haired boys beside the bed for a long while, and then continued to breathe heavily: "You two are Dr. Mori's students?"
Tsurumi Kawakami paused for a moment, subconsciously looked up at him, then lowered his head again, his eyes filled with hesitation, unsure of how to speak.
At that moment, Dazai Osamu's clear voice rang out from the side: "Yes, my name is Dazai Osamu, and his name is Tsurumi Kawakuri."
The old leader's gaze shifted to Dazai Osamu, lingering for a few seconds on his bandaged left eye, before he said with a hint of melancholy and nostalgia, "...Is his name Dazai?"
He scrutinized Dazai Osamu for a few seconds, then waved for someone to lead them out.
Looking bewildered, Tsurumi Kawakami and Dazai Osamu were led out. Mori Ougai, who was outside, was surprised to see them come out so quickly, as it had only been two minutes from when they went in to when they came out.
Mori Ōgai shifted his gaze to Kato, paused for a moment, then went up to him and exchanged a few words briefly before leading Tsurumi Kawa and Dazai Osamu away from the top floor.
The elevator stopped on the fifteenth floor. The elevator doors opened and the corridor outside was empty, with many room doors on both sides.
Mori Ougai led them to one of the doors, opened it with the key Kato had given him, then stepped back and turned to them, saying, "You can stay here for now; my room is next door."
Tsurumi Kawakami walked in and looked around curiously. Inside was a simply furnished suite, with a bedroom and a separate bathroom in addition to the outer living room.
When he came out of the bedroom, he saw Dazai Osamu already sitting on the sofa, but he didn't see Mori Ougai.
Tsurumi Kawa looked at the closed door with a puzzled expression and asked, "Where's Dr. Mori?"
Dazai Osamu was playing with his Rubik's Cube. Hearing this, he didn't even look up and said in a somewhat indifferent tone, "Back to the top floor."
Tsurumi Kawakami responded with an "oh," walked over to the sofa next to him, and sat down. After a while, he felt a little bored and looked around, trying to find something fun to do.
Catching a glimpse of the huge floor-to-ceiling window out of the corner of his eye, Tsurumi Kawaru's eyes lit up. He ran to the window, braced his hands on the one-way glass, and peered into the distance.
The buildings in the port Mafia are very tall, and there are almost no buildings taller than these five nearby. Standing on the fifteenth floor and looking out, the feeling of looking down and gazing out from such a height was quite novel to Tsurumi Nagare.
"Dazai, come here quickly! You can see Leibo Street from here!" Tsurumi Kawaru excitedly waved to the person on the sofa.
You don't notice it when you live on Leibo Street, but once you leave and stand on a high place looking towards Leibo Street, you can see a very obvious bowl-shaped basin-like giant pit.
Dazai Osamu turned his head and glanced at him, saying in a very calm tone, "What's so interesting about this?"
Tsurumi Kawa was extremely excited, completely immersed in the new experience. He moved close to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the scenery outside, occasionally letting out a gasp of surprise.
Dazai Osamu endured the noise, spinning the Rubik's Cube in his hands at breakneck speed.
After a while, Tsurumi Kawaru calmed down and suddenly remembered that Nakahara Chuuya had come to him earlier.
He ran back to the sofa and sat down, glancing around before speaking, then whispered in Dazai Osamu's ear, "Dazai, about the matter Chuuya asked us to find Rando, can we start now?"
Dazai Osamu paused, put the solved Rubik's Cube aside, and said, "It's Nakaya the little dwarf who asked you to do this. I don't want to run errands for him."
Tsurumi Kawa was taken aback, not expecting Dazai Osamu to refuse. He opened his mouth, then said earnestly, "But we're friends, isn't it normal for us to help each other?"
Osamu Dazai: "I'm not friends with the little dwarf."
Tsurumi Kawaru blinked and said straightforwardly, "I'm friends with Chuuya, and you're my friend too, so the three of us are friends!"
Dazai Osamu was taken aback by his friend's insistence on being his best friend. He paused for a moment before realizing what was happening. He crossed his arms, looked down at him for a few seconds, and then reluctantly nodded in agreement.
Tsurumi Kawaru: "Then when are we going to find Rando?"
Dazai Osamu pursed his lips: "What's the rush? We just got here. Let's talk about it this afternoon."
Tsurumi nodded like a chick pecking at rice, not understanding the difference between going now and going in the afternoon, but his intuition told him it was best not to ask.
-
Around noon, Tsurumi Kawakami, who had already familiarized himself with the room, rubbed his slightly hungry stomach and went to find Dazai Osamu.
"I'm hungry, when are we going to eat?"
Dazai Osamu, who was lying on the sofa, glanced at him sideways and said, "Go next door and see if Mr. Mori has come back yet."
Tsurumi Kawakami responded with an "oh," nodded somewhat slowly, and then turned to knock on the door next door.
"Are you looking for Dr. Mori?" Another voice suddenly rang out in the corridor.
Tsurumi Kawa was startled and turned around to see a familiar figure walking towards him from the other end of the corridor.
Upon seeing the newcomer, his brilliant golden eyes instantly lit up, and he excitedly called out, "Lan Tang!"
