Rooftop and the Third Person

Rooftop and the Third Person

"Lay, wait—"

Hearing Ray's footsteps, Tsurumi Kawakami struggled to turn his head to look behind Midorikawa Hikaru. In the darkness, Ray walked over in the direction he had just heard the noise and stood about four or five meters away from them, raising his gun.

When Tsurumi Kawaru saw Ray approaching, he paused for a second, then noticed the tense atmosphere on the rooftop where the two men were facing off with guns. He quickly called out to Ray first.

Ray glanced at Tsurumi Ryu, who was pinned to the ground, still pointing his gun at Scotland. His unwavering demeanor perfectly matched the cold-blooded image circulating within the organization.

Ray looked at Scotland expressionlessly, his gaze lingering subtly on the man's injured arm for two seconds. "Scotland, you don't think I'll let you go just because you're holding Suz's wine hostage, do you?"

In the deep darkness of night, visibility is very low; at a distance of four or five meters, only a rough outline can be seen. With reduced visibility, hearing becomes more acute than usual.

Hikaru Midorikawa couldn't see Rai's expression when he said those words. His eyebrows twitched slightly, and he looked at Rai with a somewhat strange gaze. He wondered if he was mistaken, but Rai's words seemed to be a reminder to him to take Suz's wine as a hostage.

Rae held his pistol up, seemingly aiming it at Scotland, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that the muzzle was raised slightly. If fired from this angle, the bullet would only hit the flat ground behind Hikaru Midorikawa.

Ray, or rather, Moroboshi Dai, or Akai Shuichi, seeing that Midorikawa Hikaru didn't react, assumed he didn't understand his meaning, so he took a step forward.

Now that they were closer and their field of vision was clearer, the two people, each with their own thoughts, suddenly met each other's gazes, which briefly overlapped before looking away again.

The secret eye contact caused Midorikawa Hikaru's pupils to shrink abruptly, and his heart to skip a beat. If he wasn't mistaken, the message Ray was conveying to him was—he was an undercover agent.

Hikaru Midorikawa was momentarily stunned by the sudden news and almost failed to restrain the struggling Nagaru Tsurumi. His gaze followed Nagaru Tsurumi's movements back to him.

The moment he saw Tsurumi Nagare, Midorikawa Hikaru's mind suddenly cleared. Of the three people present on the rooftop, he and Rae were undercover agents, while only Suz was a member of the Black Organization.

The sudden thought was like wild grass growing in the wind. Hikaru Midorikawa tried hard to suppress it, and for a moment his expression wavered.

Tsurumi Kawakami keenly sensed a faint malice emanating from Midorikawa Hikaru, and he strained his neck to look up at him, puzzled.

"Oh right, Ray is right. Even if you use me as a hostage, you can't escape." As he spoke, he subtly moved his restrained arm, hoping that Midorikawa Hikaru would understand his meaning.

However, the other two people present showed different expressions when they heard Tsurumi Kawa's suggestive words. Midorikawa Hikaru was stunned for a second, looked at Suzuki with complicated eyes, and unconsciously loosened his grip on Suzuki's left hand.

Ray's brow twitched slightly, and his gaze toward them became somewhat subtle. Recalling some rumors circulating within the Black Organization about Suz's wine, he raised an eyebrow, unsure whether he should mention Scotland's "good fortune in making friends."

However, Lai lowered his gun slightly and said sarcastically in the darkness, "Suzki, if you die in battle, I will report it to Gin truthfully."

Ray's words were like a declaration, and the next second, the sound of a bullet spinning at high speed piercing the air arrived as expected. Before Tsurumi Kawaru could react, he suddenly felt dizzy and was grabbed by Midorikawa Hikaru and pulled behind a nearby obstacle.

He hadn't expected Ray to be so quick to act. After a second of shock, Tsurumi Kawaru turned his gaze to Midorikawa Hikaru. He had noticed the wounds on Ray's body from the beginning, and now the smell of blood in the air was becoming increasingly strong, probably because the wounds had reopened while he was dodging.

Tsurumi Kawa: "If you really are a member of the Japanese Public Security Bureau, Gin might be coming after you too. He won't let go of members who betray the organization, especially since you're a code name member."

Midorikawa Hikaru leaned against the gray wall, biting one end of the strip of cloth on his arm, using one hand to tighten it again. Hearing this, he loosened his grip, turned to look at Tsurumi Kawakami, who was squatting on the ground, somewhat puzzled by his thoughts.

Tsurumi Kawa didn't think his actions were wrong; in his heart, his friends held far more weight. He paused and continued, "We can stall Rae for now, and then you can find a chance to escape. By the way, do you have a contact? If so, you can have them come pick you up; that way, your chances of escaping will be much higher."

The black-haired, golden-eyed boy squatted in the corner, earnestly explaining his plan to help him escape. Midorikawa Hikaru's gaze softened, and a faint smile appeared in his eyes. He jokingly said to him, "You may be disappointed. I don't have any contact person. I'm prepared to sacrifice myself."

Tsurumi looked up at him in surprise, his golden eyes, which had been slightly drooping at the corners, widened, revealing his confusion and the resistance that unconsciously showed in his eyes.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I had anticipated this situation beforehand, I prepared for it a long time ago," Midorikawa Hikaru murmured, his gaze slightly unfocused.

Tsurumi Kawaru frowned, muttered something under his breath, and then did something that seemed very reckless to others. He rushed out from behind the cover, and Midorikawa Hikaru couldn't stop him even if he tried.

Instantly, his heart leaped into his throat—

There was no dull thud of a bullet piercing flesh, nor the heavy stench of blood; Ray's gun stopped. The air seemed to freeze. Midorikawa Hikaru tentatively peeked out from behind cover, revealing a foot. After two seconds, he peered forward.

Tsurumi Kawakami clung to Ray in a comical pose, pressing down hard on Ray's gun barrel. His arms were tightly wrapped around Ray's hands, and his legs were locked together. They were wrestling with each other in this slightly strange and comical posture.

Tsurumi Kawara strained with all his might, his neck turning red, and after confirming that Rai couldn't break free, he shouted for Midorikawa Hikaru to run.

Ray struggled a few times but couldn't break free. Hearing Tsurumi Kawa's shouts, his lips twitched. When he saw Midorikawa Hikaru walking over with his shoulders shrugged and a look of suppressed laughter on his face, Ray immediately stopped struggling. He said expressionlessly, "Stop looking, come and take him away."

Once the three people on the rooftop sat down peacefully and had a friendly conversation, Tsurumi Kawakami, sitting between the two, would occasionally turn his head to look at Midorikawa Hikaru, and then occasionally turn his head to look at Rai.

He looked at it several times, then finally managed to utter, "You two are both undercover agents."

Lei didn't reply. He ignored Suz's hyperactive behavior and stared sharply at Midorikawa Hikaru: "Are you sure he won't snitch on you or tell Gin? And what exactly is going on between you and Suz?"

Suz is very mysterious in the Black Organization. Apart from the rumors that he was promoted by Rum and has the backing of the organization's second-in-command, Suz rarely participates in activities among codename members. Moreover, there are very few missions within the Black Organization that require the action team and the intelligence team to work together. To date, Lai has only met Tsurumi Ryu once.

During their brief meeting, Leigh didn't offer much analysis of Sauvignon Blanc, so much so that he didn't realize the other party had a "significant connection" with Scotland.

However, the true value of this friendship remains questionable, according to Lei.

Hikaru Midorikawa's eyes held a faint smile. He covered his mouth and coughed lightly to hide it. He turned his gaze to Tsurumi Nagare, who was still looking conflicted. After thinking for a few seconds, he said to Rai, "Although I can't guarantee it, I believe Suzju won't do that."

“I’ve found out Rum’s identity. Suzi told me the information.”

A hint of surprise flashed in Lei's sharp eyes. He looked up at Tsurumi Kawaru and was somewhat incredulous that Suz would tell Scotland such important news.

Hearing this, Rye guessed why his Scottish undercover identity had been exposed.

When Tsurumi Kawakami heard Midorikawa Hikaru mention him, he snapped out of his thoughts and heard the last sentence. He exclaimed "Eh?" and looked at him with great surprise, saying bluntly, "You found out that Rum is a chef at a sushi restaurant?"

Lei: ""

Lei: "Wait, Rum works as a chef at a sushi restaurant. Is there anything special about that sushi restaurant? Is it a five-star restaurant or—?"

Tsurumi gave him a strange look and shook his head: "It's just a very ordinary sushi restaurant, but the owner said it's been open for many years and it's located in Beikacho."

After saying that, he thought of the sushi at the sushi restaurant and smacked his lips as if reminiscing: "The sushi at that restaurant was delicious. Uncle Kyoda—oh, no, I mean Rum—made really great sushi."

Tsurumi Kawa gave a thumbs-up and praised, "I'd like to treat you to a meal sometime if I have the chance."

Lei: "..."

Hikaru Midorikawa chuckled, “Yes, I found that the chef named Kenzuru Wakita at the Iroha Sushi restaurant in Beika Town has an inconsistency in his identity. Although his background is very detailed and there seems to be almost no flaw or inconsistency, sometimes being too perfect is a problem. Then I spent some more time investigating further and, sure enough, I found something wrong…”

Before he could finish speaking, footsteps approached from afar in the darkness, and the sound came from downstairs—someone had gone up to the rooftop.

Hikaru Midorikawa immediately fell silent, his sharp gaze sweeping towards the rooftop door. Ray instinctively reached for the gun at his waist and looked in that direction as well.

Tsurumi listened for a few seconds, then looked at Midorikawa Hikaru with a relaxed expression. He hesitated for a second before saying, "It's Amuro Tooru."

Midorikawa Hikaru was taken aback and turned to look at Rae. He paused and was about to explain something when the rooftop door was suddenly pushed open, and a familiar figure walked out from behind the door—it was Amuro Tooru.

...

Let's rewind half an hour.

Amuro Tooru received the news and rushed to catch up with Gin. However, Gin was in a very bad mood because he missed his shot and failed to hit Scotland. The action team had never gotten along with the intelligence team, especially in recent years when Rum, relying on his seniority, often bossed Gin around. Therefore, Gin was very cold and hostile towards Amuro Tooru, who came from the intelligence team.

It took Amuro some time to learn from Gin about the direction Scotland had fled and that Ray and Suz were acting together. On the way there, he sped up to the maximum speed, driving at breakneck speed.

After tracking down to an old residential area and seeing the Black Organization's car parked outside, Amuro Tooru ran all the way there. Following the faint bloodstains and footprints on the ground, he pushed open the rooftop door. Amuro Tooru's heart was in his throat, his heart pumping faster, the sound of his heartbeat seemed to be right next to his eardrums.

"Bang--!"
